End of an era indeed. You’ve spent years in the area.
I’m here in PA right now, spent almost 4yrs, then more than 2yrs in Austin Texas before that.
And next month, I’ll be moving out of the country, going back home. It’s bitter sweet, I’ve enjoyed my stay and very thankful for the opportunity

Look forward to yout series and building. One great source for solar is Hawaii based "off grid living really". Steve has a very unique and slightly counter intuitive approach to solar. With second hand panels so cheap per watt now, he has the idea of going heavy on panel wattage and not so heavy on inverter/battery setup. The idea being when the sun shines you do all your power intensive activities... The guy know his stuff.

Thanks so much for checking out my channel Dee Gee and for the welcome. If finances were flush a truck would make sense for me. When you calculate the financial math though it goes like this. Using a truck times per year? Probably a dozen. Renting one. At most for that period roughly $800.00. Cost of truck payments or purchasing one that is as reliable as the toyota? Easily $6000.00. So far financially doesnt add up. The convenience is great though, that I agree on!

Hi Marie. Thanks so much for watching my videos! Hope you subscribed so you can see lots more! Of course with such an important decision I wont be qualified to choose the best option for you but... Here is what I would do first and foremost. Find out what kind of restrictions there may be for Coconino county. You will want to talk with the county office about Tiny cabins. Minimum size and permitting. That is paramount before you do anything. If you can I would avoid electricity onsite like the plague. Power companies are NEVER going to reduce your power rates. If budget allows you should go all solar. You can get set up for about $7000. Of course that hurts up front but after that you are good for many years with no cost. Also remember that its fun and beautiful to live remotely but the reality is that you will need medical and conveniences as well. I chose to live within 45 min max of all of those. Hope this is helpful!

Dennis in only a short period I had a septic installed and was fully permitted and inspected under the opt out permitting program. I have also had one visit since (a couple of months ago) from the County to examine what I am doing here. She was pretty friendly as I presented all of my county paper work and said See you next year! Why bother with a survey. Just get a tape measure and start surveying yourself. You defeat the off grid convey if you hire people to do something for you.

Hi Richard First thanks so much for watching! I love that you stopped by! Your timing couldnt have been more perfect! I just posted a video showing why I hired someone after measuring and surveying myself. Also my concept is that I will do what I can do myself with training for my off-grid location. But at some points (ie insulation etc) I hire professionals so that it gets done right. Check out my surveying video here and thanks again for your comments! ua-cam.com/video/Ik21R5__yio/v-deo.html

    PROPERTY BOUNDARIES
In your video dated Dec 30, 2020, you said your property was described as 528 feet by 300 feet by the real estate agent, which is 158,400 square feet. You could find only one of the four, metal, corner markers. When you measured the properties with a surveyors tape, and it was about 470 feet on the Frontage along the private road instead of the expected 528 feet, which was at least 30 feet encroachment on your neighbor's property. You hired the surveyor who did the original survey of your property to survey it again, and he put a tall, steel pole marker at all four corners. Then you said: "It turns out that I own 50 feet of the private road in Front of my property, and my property does not go an additional 50 feet of Length from the road.
It seems that your property Frontage along the road and your property Length perpendicular to the road are confused. The road is probably not 50 feet wide, so you seem to be saying that the Frontage of your property is 50 feet instead of 528 feet. And the Length of your property is not clear, maybe it is still 300 feet.
The following questions and information may be of some help in sorting out your property matters to protect your interests. Wishing you the best.
QUESTION 1. What are the surveyed Frontage and Length of your property, and how many square feet is this?
QUESTION 2. The Cochise County Clerk has a legal survey Plat Map of your property in their records, as well as a legal Property Deed for your property in their official records. Do you have a copy of your official Plat Map and Property Deed? Have you filed your newly surveyed Property Deed and a copy of the new survey Plat Map boundaries with the Cochise County Clerk?
QUESTION 3. Does your next-of-kin or beneficiaries of your estate know about your new property?

This was a rough estimate. Thankfully things are documented by the county and I dont have to figure out the specific mathematics.
