Still I agree, but alot of the great literary works are! Gulag archipelago, Don quixote, our lady of the flowers, De Profundis, Mein kampf(not so erm great but a classic) and many more.

y'know, throughout history there's always been at least one person that's fought for civil rights in ways just as Martin Luther King Jr. has in scarily similar ways; and yeah I might sound idealistic when I say this, but maybe, just maybe, similar to Nickelodeon's world of Avatar that we have our own Civil Rights Avatar right now in this day and age forevermore, and that they just have to find their calling and show themselves in whatever way possible. But until then, we've just gotta keep trying to make this world a better place one step at a time!
there's one thing I've always said: "We must always forgive but never forget, lest we play history's broken records"
not sure how to tie in my little quote but I hope it's message reaches you nonetheless! Per audacia ad astra, my friend! ^^)/

I believe it was for a college English class I was taking that we were assigned to read this letter. I had procrastinated the assignment and was going to skim through it before class so I’d have something to share. But as I started reading it, I couldn’t stop. I read it in its entirety and was late to class. This is still one of the most powerful and influential princes of literature, outside of scripture that I have ever read. Truly Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a man of God, a man of country, of man of his people and ALL people. He uses historical, biblical, constitutional, ethical, moral reasoning to peacefully persuade the the clergymen of the south that the time for action is always now against unjust laws of any kind. He taught peace, love, true equality, determination and persistence. He will always be one of my greatest hero’s! I wish more people really knew what he stood for. Thank you reverend King for you impact on the world!

thank you for posting the audio version of this. I'm not sure why, but I feel like I'm able to take this in way more effectively than when I tried to read it on the page. Not sure if maybe i just have/had trouble focusing on stuff. But I'm glad stuff like this is around way more often and is more readily available now. Thank you for doing the Lord's work w/ accessibility. ❤🔥

D Dub I agree- at first, I thought, I can read it faster, but then I stopped and listened and wow - so much of a powerful thing to really just sit and hear his voice and message. Everyone needs to hear this and not just once.

He was an innovator and activist in every sense of the word. He spoke with insight as well as intelligence. His "I have a dream" speech was epic and real. He was ahead of his time and he really did stand for what is right in life.

The "I have a dream" speech speaks to a generation and future generation.
Grace, Hope and a beacon in the night.
For me, "Letter from a Birmingham Jail," speaks to the need for "Anti-Racism."
The Book - How to Be an Antiracist by Ibram X. Kendi (Author) follows this up, expanding Dr King's ideas.
Every MLK day, I take time to listen to "Letter from a Birmingham Jail"
I am reminded on this day what it takes to gain true freedom. Thank you, Dr., Rev. King.

Thank you for posting the original audio. For numerous reasons, I don't like when people post videos of themselves reading Martin Luther King Jr's Letter from a Birmingham Jail. One of the most profound things I had ever heard, is from MLK "the arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice". I tend to not be a person that listens to people just because they are a prominent figure, I filter out a lot of what people say or write (for better or worse). But something about MLK, what he says and how he speaks really strikes me deep.

Wow! To God be The GLORY for such a soul such an oracle such an oratory, what clarity what knowledge what understanding what courage what moral strength and fortitude.
A true King Solomon of the time a true hero a true leader a true Statesman easily Presidential material, political and religiously capable and savvy and eppt . What a tragady King wasn't received by His generation or his fellow ministers of the day.
looks like America had her chance to change and do the right thing.
I don't think this country will ever again see the likes of
    Dr. Martin L. King JR
    So sad, so sad.

The speech is beyond reproach. It is a learning experience in itself. I turned on the closed captioning because sometimes I miss things. I wish I hadn't. They were so poorly done, they were a distraction. It is better to just look up the text.
