LSV: Uses Thopter tokens instead of Faerie tokens to annoy his opponents
LSV: Accidentally annoys his future self seven years later

Pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease do more of these! It would be cool to understand more about why different decks in different eras were good, and how different cards fluctuated in power in different formats

I wish we could still watch the whole pro tour on youtube. For me, that's what got me into magic.

  • @GSPriv26

Some of my fondest Magic memories are from watching these horrible grainy coverages, with the little Flash-pop up window that showed what card was being played.
I remember this game and how awesome it was to watch LSV flip the card from under Windbrisk.
Thanks for doing this, I hope you guys do some more, even if it's not all LSV matches. If you do, please do some Mirrodin/Kamigawa Kamigawa/Ravnica PTs, those were the best Standards ever and had some incredible matches.

This was a cool run back I'd like to see more of this kind of content. What an intense game though, it feels like the relative power of standard decks has come down quite a bit since 09 but I might be wrong great commentary as well guys thanks

This comment didn't age well. Now we have 10 cards banned out of every new set, sometimes before they are even playable LOL.

I keep coming back here every once in a while to re-watch this video because it's so damn entertaining to listen to Luis talk about one of his classic games. I would love to watch more videos like this one but I understand that availability might be an issue and it would be difficult to find pros who can be as entertaining as Luis. Awesome content though!

Looking back at it, while I have a lot of fondness for the old Pro-Tour Top 8 coverage, back when Randy Buehler was still in top form and things were a lot more laid back and informal, the post PT Dark Ascension coverage is really presented much better.
As someone who's watched the PT Kyoto Top 8 some 30 or 40 times, I will vouch for having been very confused as to what was going on the first time seeing it.

When did the Mutavault die? One moment Luis had it to give his Cloudgoat flying, and then next turn it wasn't there to attack? It had +1/+1 counters on it so it couldn't have died to Fallout.

    • @-bdl2696
      @-bdl2696 4 роки тому

LSV attacked Nassif, Nassif cast Plumeveil (4/4 flash flying defender) and traded with it. Watch the actual MTG channel match with the commentary and they go over it. The camera angles leave much to be desired for this match, lots of focusing on their faces, rather then the above table camera we know today.

As an MTG player who only became able to fully enjoy the game a few years ago, this remains one of my favorite things LR has put out. I come back to this strangely often, and it's hard not to feel sad about all of the things I missed on account of being so young. I really wish I could have experienced a PT before they were erased.
