Bourbon is made from a grain mash that contains at least 51% corn, while Scotch whiskeys are typically made from malted grains.
Literally Google lol
And taste better then bourbon
How is the percentage of corn mesured in the mash
In reality bourbon is a cheaper version of rum more then whiskey
I came for an answer to a question I never knew I had.
Lol
Was enjoying a glass of Glen, remembered how I was into vodka 4 years back and the question just popped up lol
I like Capri sun
Thank you for putting a smile on my face! 😁
Luisa Jorrin lol welcome
Thank you for sharing Sir! Subscribed! I’ve visited the DR mostly in spring/summer months. How it during Hurricane Season down there? I’m considering an extended stay in Santo Domingo during the winter months in the Midwest.
My question is really about flavor profile. I understand the technicality but have no idea about typical flavors.
0:59 is the most clear cut answer I’ve ever gotten lol
OMG I came here cause I developed a taste for Bourbon. Staying for the snark! Thanks!
Glad I could help! 😀
Ty so so easy to understand 🌺mahalo
"Difference between Scotch & Bourbon | School of Spirits"
there, I fixed your title for you
Whiskey is Irish; Whisky is Scottish; Bourbon is American.
What about Canadian rye whiskey?
Lots of fine metaphors!
Thank you, metaphors and puns are our guilty pleasure ;)
Awesome
This visual design makes me think we’re going back in time by about a decade. The audio makes me think the editor has been on the sauce
Meanwhile I’m in Tennessee drinking a JD while watching this haha
This Video is much clear that others
Thank you for the kind words, we're happy you enjoyed it. Would you mind letting us know what kind of content you would to see from us in the future?
Wait, what happened at band camp?
Not less than 94.8% but maximum of 94.8%. because less than 94.8% is 94.7%abv correct me if I'm wrong.
What is the difference between whiskey and whisky?
man i lovvve scotch
Forgot about Canadian whiskey

Where did the "e" in whiskey come from?
Here's a video for you :)

Irish spelling, so the right way to spell it
@@samuelb2375 Irish whiskey is weak and unsophisticated.
Not unlike the Irish themselves.
Glad my Irish ancestors upgraded to the land of the Scotch.
It is widely believed that during the 19th century, Ireland's distillers began to use the 'e' as a way to differentiate their whiskeys from Scotch.
@@samuelb2375 actually, you are wrong!
Whisky comes from the SCOTTISH pronunciation of the Gaelic word Wish-ca-bah
The Irish pronunciation is Oosh-ca-bah
The Scottish abbreviated it to wishkie and then anglocised the pronunciation to Whisky.
So yeah!
Come day go day wishing me heart it was Sunday Drinking buttermilk all the week whiskey on a Sunday
I'm glad you had the two spellings, cater for all drinkers. Though to be fair, once I've had a few it means fuck all.
I wonder if it's possible to make a spirit that is both Scotch and Bourbon?
Good question! We'll our in-house spirit gurus if it would be possible and get back to you.
Yes and no. If a distillery in Scotland made a 51% corn spirit and put it in a virgin oak casks for at least 3 years it is classed as scotch but couldn't call itself bourbon. It could be called Scotch grain whisky or bourbon style whisky.
There are some companies that make mixed whiskies. For example, the Bourye whiskey by High West is a blend of Bourbon and Rye, which give it both a sweet and malty taste...
Monkey Shoulder is very close to that basically a 50/50 in sweet bourbon meets smokey scotch.
Video: “What’s liquid, brown and has the ability to make you feel warm all over?”
Me: *pauses video and looks up online*
Google: “Brown vaginal discharge”
Oh! *Closes and burns phone*
*sigh*
Me: opens up incognito tab
Bourbon has a much wider variety of complex flavors than scotch does....
i dont see why anyone would prefer scotch, but hey, to each their own!
To me , bourbon smokes scotch and i was a scotch snob for many years...now i prefer bourbon and enjoy drinking a lot more!
Cheers~!
ANYONE *I’m trying to gift a Bourbon afficando so may I have recommends?*
Buffalo Trace is great if you can find it. Bulleit Rye and Woodford Reserve are great "cheap" alternatives that will satisfy just about anyone. My recommendation is to ask your local liquor store for a local option - though it might not be the "best" bourbon you are supporting the local economy and everyone likes something local.
@@brandoncarey541 thank you. 🥰
@Vincent Samson I actually got Elijah Craig for sure. Gave another brand but forgot the name. Still trying to secure McKenna 10 by Juneteenth.
Thank you so much 🥰 hoping he'll like them or tell me stop 🤷🏿♀️
It’s only whisky. If it doesn’t have the E
Still don't get it
I love whiskey
Which one?
@@godzilla964jack Daniel's of course with the "e"
Bourbon must age (by law) in new oak casks ... Whisky must age in used oak casks which can be helding bourbon :-)
That's not quite true if referring to scotch. Virgin oak barrels can be used. But you are right about most scotch distillers using ex bourbon casks. Sherry casks are also commonly used.
Nice... 👍
Coronavirus is a “catch-all category.” Lol
Yeah always wanted to know which is stronger Scotch or Henny 👑
Well, Hennessy is a cognac which is a completely different animal 😀ua-cam.com/video/FNXTxujCPOc/v-deo.html
Wait it's not shyt
That one time at band camp
We all know what happens in band camp, stays at band camp!
okay how about Irish whiskey
just add the 'e'
E Dub all day baby.
Let's make a 3 minute video with a lot unnecessary animation and banter to explain something that can be done in 1 sentence
This video said so much and nothing at all at the same time
What about Cognac ? 🥃
We actually have a separate video on Cognac, we suggest you take a look at it to find out more here:

"A booze channel for PEAT'S sake?"
Half information is risky
Was looking for something a little more informative and less silly ("that one time, at band camp...").
Sorry you didn’t find the video enough straight forward. Do you have any other comments which would help us improve our content in general.
Everything is very much appreciated 🙏🏽
I said poop lmao! Pooop that aint warm👻
Where is the Irish whiskey? :(
In Ireland! Don't worry, we aren't picking favorites, it's just that most people are usually confused what's the difference between the three featured in the video.
So much basic info has been left out of this video
Sorry to hear our video wasn't to your liking, would you mind letting us know what else you would have liked included?
Scotch whiskey all night long
And then you sing THE Blues.
Ehhh caramel coloring . No scotch for me
This doesn't mean it's always present, just that it can be. It would be a shame if you missed out on the experience because of this!
Who knows, maybe you'd really enjoy it?
makes no sense how are they unique when they're the same thing
We suggest you watch the video again more closely, as it should be apparent what the differences are.
Alternatively, you can always pick up a Bourbon and a Scotch and taste them side by side to see the difference yourself.
They are all alcohol... 😂😂
If your poo is liquid, you need to change your diet man.
tbh, your intro did make me think of poop, rofl.
Very stupid explanation and inconclusive
Must be made in KENTUCKY!!!!
Misconception. That used to be true but is no longer.
The congress passed a resolution that US whiskey can be called bourbon if it’s 51% corn.
It’s was to give non Kentucky bourbons a fair shot on the international market.
Jack Daniel technically is a bourbon but they prefer to market themselves as “Tennessee sour mash whiskey”
@@jimmy2k4o i didnt know it was congress. Goes to show the govt ruins everything lol.
Thanks for the background tho, very interesting stuff
Poorly explained
Sorry to have disappointed you, would you mind letting us know what you think we left out or we could have explained better? Any feedback is much appreciated!
Cheers
Scotch wins
Almost every time 😉🥃
Sadly, this is another ill-informed video that gets is so wrong in the first 15 seconds that we all should give it a thumbs down and move on to a presentation that understands that Scotch, Bourbon, Rye, etc. are all whiskies or whiskeys. The poop emoji at :08 is another indicator of the quality therein.
Sorry to hear you didn't find our video informative and entertaining.
Hope you found another one that better suits your taste!
Stop spelling Scotch WHISKY, Whiskey.Thumbs down.
Scotch is spelled whisky without the E
They explained that in the video cause of the whisky act.
Bourbon and Scotch are different forms of Whiskey. Educate yourself pal.
They don't have to be different. Although no distilleries in Scotland do it, they could make a copy of a bourbon and call it scotch. They just can't call it bourbon.
