  • Since the ultimate rebuild on our hemi Jeep Wrangler wasn't done in time, we took our Ford Bronco Raptor to the Rubicon Trail for the Jeepers Jamboree! Now although the off road and rock crawling capabilities of our Bronco definitely exceeded our expectations, that doesn't mean it made it off the trail unscathed. So now that we're back home, we walk around the Bronco to show you what all was damaged and broken during our off road adventure!

    Considering the punishment you put on the bumper, all that broke were the tabs for the fender(and the bumper). LOL Brittney buttoning her lips after Kevin's comment, "There may be a loose nut behind the wheel." Love the channel. Love the content.

    Its amazing how much you can spend on these vehicles and the manufacturer is only going to get you started. I like the fact of Brit and Kevin they just tell you how it is and this works and that won't. Make it or break it. These folks will save you alot of heart ache and you have a choice spend a little more now or a lot later.

    I know that when my YJ was new back in '88, it would never have made it on the Rubicon. That's why nothing on it is stock since I built it 25 years ago. That Bronco is impressive. My '93 Bronco is a big girl, even with the pre runner bumpers and suspension, it would be difficult to get through that trail. Great job.

    Two friends of mine in there rigs plus myself and my wife just ran the Rubicon last weekend - wow quite a blast and I just didn't appreciate that it is twenty miles of crawling with zero rest (the whole trail is an obstacle and it never quits), amazing two days. However, it also rained Saturday plus most of that night and it was like wheeling on teflon

    I feel like this whole bRaptor series is just a giant ad for the Recon Grapplers. 🤣 I'm honestly sold. Once my Ridge Grapplers wear out I'm going for Recons. That tread looks almost like an RT, anyway. Probably be a better all around tire anyway, since my JLU is also my daily.

    I was excited to see bronco come back. I loved the bronco and when they announced it I couldn't wait for it. When it came out it's been a HUGE let down. First all the rocker arm breaks, Second the trans has issues for some and if your off road when it breaks ford says they won't help you warranty or not, lastly was seeing you guys take out the rear bumper. I mean we all know that it's bad. In my Jeep I get a notice the sensors are not right and hit the button to turn that off and all is good. After that happened in the bronco you went into limp mode and the question becomes are you even going to make it home? Luckily after you restarted it went good again. These are all things that didn't have to happen. The new generation ford is not living up to my old generation expectations. I watch to see how others do to see if I want one.. and for now I really don't. I used to love ford a lot better than Jeep. Now however my Jeep has A\C, something only fairly recently offered. (some jk and jl models) No issues getting over things even fairly stock. Ford breaks things, shuts down, they may not even honor the warranty (really how is this not a lawsuit? I get control arms but trans is a known issue and a design flaw yet some still have been told they are on their own.), I mean text book on how to kill your brand.

    But realistically the only Jeep that the BRaptor can be compared, head to head, side by side, dollar for dollar, to IS the Wrangler 392XR. And even then the 392 is still cheaper.
    Good to see you pushing the BRaptor to the limits.

      Although, the electric motor could have gotten hot because of the mechanical resistance which would increase the current flow through the motor/electronics.

  • @michaelzeeuw772
    @michaelzeeuw772 11 місяців тому +2

    The alignment issue is probably calibrating the steering angle sensor back to center. Mine goes off center during fast off-roading in ruts or just tapping a tie rod with a hammer to install my tie-rod braces. F150 electric steering is fairly notorious for this. I marked my alignment and nothing changes but the steering wheel center. It sucks, and I can't find an OBDII programmer that says it can calibrate a Bronco (most newer Fords can be zeroed with a good scanner).

    I love the Broncos (I actually own one), but the Raptor is 5,700lbs, probably a thousand more than any other vehicle doing the Rubicon with you. Add a beefier rear bumper and skid plates and it will be over 6,000lbs. It's a great truck but not a great rock crawler. On another note, I have to say I really enjoy the great spotting by Brittny.

    What about replacing the raptor fender flares with non-raptor fender flares? They are narrower will they fit the body? Until someone comes out with some better fender flares that could possibly give you the clearance you’re looking for without making the stance wider than it already is. Just a thought keep up the great work guys.

  • @grundyb

    Maybe try a transmission cooler mounted to the radiator and connect it to the power steering tubing. I’m thinking the wheel sensor rings are getting out of sink and it is flashing a code. I’m thinking you should bring a cheap code reader so you know what codes you’re getting and clear it right on the trail so you can communicate it with Ford. Take a picture of the code before you erase it so you don’t forget want it was.

    The reason (most likely) your engine goes into limp mode is because of the intercooler. Drill a small hole about 1/16 in the lowest spot of the elbow coming out of the intercooler as it goes up to the intake. After compressing and cooling large volumes of humid air it tends to condensate and pools in the lowest spot. When you gas’s it a pool of water rushes into the engine. I would search ecoboost weep hole and see if your issues matches those in the search.

    • @ZboeC5
      @ZboeC5 11 місяців тому

      Instead of upping their game all it's done is raise prices. Ford just dropped the base model Bronco and now you can't get one for less than 40k. Wrangler prices are up across the board as well. My favorite part is, adding a 6.4 to a RAM somehow only cost $2,000 but if you want that same engine in a Jeep that'll be an extra $20,000 please and thank you. Never mind that they only dropped the 6.4 in a Wrangler because the Bronco's 2.7 Ecoboost absolutely curb stopped anything Wranglers had before. The 2.3 in the Bronco is better than everything but the 392 in a Wrangler. But all this has done nothing but increase the cost to consumers.
