Huichol Chichimeca Indians Zacatecas Mexico

- Chichimeca was the name that the Nahua peoples of Mexico generically applied to many bands and tribes of nomadic and semi- nomadic peoples who inhabited northern modern-day Mexico and southwestern United States.
The primary indigenous people of present-day Zacatecas were the Chichimeca Indians.
Groups belonging to these Indians include Zacatecos, Cazcanes, and Guachiles.
Ahhh the lovely Zacatecas. The ones that defeated Spain. The Mexica empire had 800,000 warriors and defeated 1,000+ Spanish soldiers, but the Zacateca, much smaller tribe, defeated 2,000+ Spanish and overthrew them. It's almost like the David and Goliath story. The smallest empire beat a gigantic monarchy.
It wasn't just like that, the Chichimecas had a big advantage over the Aztecs when they fought the Spaniards in that they had adopted using Spanish Horses and weaponry, are you honestly telling me the Aztecs wouldn't have wrecked the Spanish if they had horses and Spanish weaponry? C'mon bruh even then the Aztecs did win some battles and many Spaniards were sacrificed there weren't even 800000 aztecs in the whole empire FUUCKK how the fuck were there 800000 warriors? There were only 200k some people in the whole empire, no need to degrade one civilization to uplift another...
its because of guerrilla tactics, they usually consisted of small raiding parties that would sack spanish settlements, killing livestock, people, and mostly disrupting the populace..these tribes "the chichimecs" consisted of various nomadic peoples..they were extremely primitive, they didn't grow crops or domesticate animals instead they forged for food daily. The spanish said they were arched over all day picking up scraps from the ground..they didn't even have gods, they worshiped the sun and moon and slept on the ground ..
The Aztecs referred to them as "sons of dogs", there culture faded away because they didn't know how to write, make art, construct villages or towns ..most of the north and central mexico consisted of these nomadic groups, the civilization builders were in the south..
Aztecs/the mexica empire called people from the north savages so that says a lot lol.
The Aztecs fought in hand to hand combat which made them susceptible to the guns and cannons of the Spanish, and even with their disadvantages the Aztecs had some success. That's also why the Aztecs and Spanish never conquered the the Yopes who were excellent archers, and lived in a mountainous terrain.
History repeats its self ..the name of pancho villa Francisco you can't deny the blood.. we are not cowards and it shows in real life ..just like it's about to repeat again my friends u.s is going to need our help
i was born in zacatecas i now reside in chicago usa... i am proud to be from zacatecas.. i love my people thnk you for posting this video

Half My Family is from Zacatecas, Mexico. They're very hard working people. They're also very humble and timid people. They're not use to being on camera so that would explain why they didn't say much. I appreciate your compassion and interest for other cultures.Thank you so much for sharing ♡♡♡
few words but he did not make himself understood
Is the Spanish or mestizo population high there? My 8th great grandparents were born in Zacatecas in 1730 but had Spanish names. I know Spanish names and religions were forced onto them but I’m trying to trace my indigenous roots.
Im from zacatecas god bless my native people .
they/we had their own religion right before they forced them/us into christianity
@@christthewolf4000 Catholicism is not christianity.
There's a difference.
Many say it is but it's not.
@@rosasmith9835 Its the same. Christianinty is a protestant religion. The extra books taken out didn't change a thing. Its Still the King James Bible. Ignorance is a choice.
From Jerez, Zacatecas, living in the illegal settler nation of U.S. I am on a mission to decolonize myself and society, and one thing that hurts my heart is I will probably never find my original tribe, but I am aware of the few that are surviving. Seeing these people whom are relatives of my ancestors gives me happiness.
This mans words are true and of good heart. These people kept Mother Earth healthy, and "civilization" has destroyed the Americas. I will try to visit and sit down and talk with them soon, as when I was a kid I was ignorant and did not realize these were my ancestors. May the Creator keep them safe and give them the resources to keep their tradition alive
Great work . I agree with you 100% on your view. I am of Mexican American heritage. My parents are from Zacatecas. We carry indigenous blood. When A white person calls us " illegals " ....I find it rather ironic. How in the hell are the descendants of the European invaders going to call the ancestors of Native Americans , " illegal " ?!?!
My 8th great grandparents were born in Zacatecas in 1730.
I think about this often. My mom and her family are from Zacatecas. My father is from Michoacán with Purepecha blood. It makes no sense. Caucasians are the ones who crossed the ocean illegally! And all around it’s Indigenous who are struggling.
Mexicans and there reservation brothers and sisters, are the real, and only!!! North Americans!!!,

@@yolandajimenez9453 he is obviously trying to help. He has a European accent England perhaps.
if I'm annoyed by you imagine how annoyed they are by you.
They are not Indians, they are Native to Zacatecas. Indians are in India. You sound like you are from England but originally from India
They are from Nayarit and Jalisco, they just go to Zacatecas to sell their art after they go to their ceremonial peregrination to Wirrarika in San Luis Potosi. Your attitude is a bit colonial in showing them as if they were a human zoo without even trying to actually talk to them before drawing your conclusions.
Huicholes own the Sierra between Durango, Nayarit, Jalisco and Zacatecas
This is beautiful to see. My father was from Juchipila, Zacatecas. He was born in 1906 and came to the USA 1911 with his mother. My father had family here in California even before 1900. My dear father lived to be 95 years old and have a very big extended family he was a good hard working man and we sure miss his wisdom.
I FROM Juchipila too,
@@rosariomercado940 - Hi 👋🏼 we’ve been looking for any descendants that live there or if there are any left.
They’re not Indians they are indigenous
it pains me to see this... as zacatec..

struggling? suffering? These people are living better, eating better and are much happier than most of the world! this guy has much to learn
lwittma yes, I'm from Zacatecas and was way happier when I was there, than here in the USA I left my country over 30 yrs ago, my kids were born here and they are just to this country, and they are the only reason I don't go back to my country.
I agree that these families are struggling, but then again I saw two cellphones on the table near the beads. The video was interesting to watch because it allowed me to see “my primos” in Mexico, but I also think that it was not appropriate for this man to have touched the child.
So did you help out?
or just travel there to show them how awesome your life is.
They keep their culture and traditions despite 300 hundred years of spanish colonization and 200 of mexican mestizo assimilation. This is remarkable. Though, poverty and specially inequality are issues in Mexico and arround the world. I like they look happy and family is together
They are chichimeca (Zacateco )
how do you know they are zacateco and not huichol. they wear traditional huichol clothes
Goku Kakarot would they be the same as the wixarika Indians?
Those are Huicholes from Nayarit and Jalisco
Zacatecos desapered centuriries ago, all of us living in Zacatecas are mixed people now
Ellos no son Zacatecos son huicholes.
And Guanajuato natives to dont forget people
Thank you so much for recording this, I'm from Zacatecas and I miss it so much, haven't seen my hometown for over 20 yrs.
And just wanted to mention tours the end of your video you point a sign that it says pomada de peyote ( peyote is a root like a potato and Indians used to chew it and will make you last days walking and not hungry, also it makes you alucinate, also used as medicine
Thank you for this video! I am from Kentucky in the US and I have many family members in Zacatecas. My grandmother recently passed away and unfortunately I never had the chance to meet her. This video gives myself and others insight of the lifestyle they endure in modern times. I'm proud of my roots and one day I hope to help as many I can!
The Native Indegenous people need to be celebrated and respected. there influnce , Cultural are the True roots of the America's .many tend to foget that this continent was and still is a Tribal continent and that the original people of the Americas are the Native Indegenous people. who have thrived here for many thousands of years.
I was born there and now in Ohio. I appreciate the video but why are you asking them the to say Merry Christmas? The people that brought so much pain and suffering also brought the Christian holiday?
My grandmother was born and raised in Zacatecas in a little pueblito. According to Ancestry DNA she’s 60% indigenous and it’s true because her and the rest of the family have strong indigenous features.
Our Nahuatlaca cousins (It's said the Chichimecas are originally the Chicasha ('chicasaws'). "Halito" from your Chahta cousin.
Oh halito 💕 i never knew that I'm also chahta
Chatahs don’t look like that. Not the original ones in Mississippi that some of my people come from. Maybe they are of the Asian Spanish version. My Choctaw, many, are labeled as black/African Americans.
@@patriciademekpe5522 - I never said my Tribe looked like that. I said those ARE cousins to my Tribe because they are one in the same with our Chicasha cousins, who are my cousins, too. I don't know you Ma'am, your Tribe, and I don't even understand the point you're arguing. EVERY Native alive today, RACIST or not, has Nahua/Nahuatlaca blood in them. I can suggest LISTS of books to back every claim I stake. Much Love.
@@SmashinAdams well, my people are aborigine/indigenous and not of the Asian stock. I read they may have come from south of the border during ancient times following the direction of a leaning stick but i don’t know. We do have Indians in Louisiana called the Chitimacha but the are also of a darker hue.
@@patriciademekpe5522 - A Chahta sapia (We are Chahta). Yep, that's us! The 'leaning pole' followers were the Nahua who crossed the Beringia. They mixed here with the Allegwi Moundbuilders. And the Beringia-crossers were already part Moundbuilder before crossing. By now, I seriously doubt if there's anyone left on Earth that's 100% Moundbuilder; Racists & colorists hate the 'bands', 'nations' & 'tribes' many times out of hatred of their supposed unity, straighter hair, fairer hue, & their little perks (which are nothing). The Chitimacha are a sub-group of us Chahta.
Thanks for the video, my family is from Zacatecas and we are hard working people thanks for sharing and by the name of your channel are you brazillian? i am just wondering
From Brazil? Didn't you see the intro?
He's from England! And stupid AF
He's probably looking to groom something more exotic than native English girls
Your destroying it by saying Feliz navidad , our people been destroy by christian faith .
I know I am so sorry I want to learn and want to wish them well in their language yet we have spoiled their lives and language and way of life all together I cry inside me please visit my new videos of the minority people of Vietnam and China please
completamente estas mal la ignorancia es lo que hace que hablen tan mal
No. Other people killed your people, not Christianity.
Christian Herrera Christianity was used to deceit our people and steal the riches of the land. Do some research.
r i t u v l s Christianity itself is not what destroyed them, in fact, many natives were happy to convert. It’s the people who brought Christianity that destroyed them. If the Spanish had approached the natives more calmly and humanely, things would be different today.

Good grief my friend. I want to respectfully point out the obvious - they are not "Christian".
You keep pressing them on telling you how to say, Merry Christmas? *facepalm*
My Grandfather was a Huachelo from Jalisco. I think Huachelos r from Zacatecas, Jalisco, Durango. My neighbor is from Durango, we recently discovered that we r both Huachelo. We hugged, it felt like a sister hug. My gramps was very humble, patient and very wise.

I am from Zacatecas, that Huichol tribe is not from Zacatecas, the Chichimecas are a very different one, they have recently emigrated to Zacatecas, they live in the Sierra de Jalisco, as a missionary I have gone to their places of origin
I wonder how you say "Please go away." in Huichol?
Those are not Chichimecas are Huicholes from Nayarit and Jalisco

Trust me I will share it, I myself am a descendant of a Chichimeca tribe called Guamare of the Mexican State of Guanajuato and I am extremely pleased that people recognize my people's struggle. God Multiply your Blessings from Heaven.
My humbling thank you for your kind words and thoughts.
Shiran De Silva I have a question do you know who originally owned Cortazar Guanajuato I have some sources that keep saying otomi and mexica but I read that the guamares own the whole territory
They are not chichimecas, are huichol , don’t confuse
huichol are chichimecs, the branched of from the guachichil..and formed there own culture
first part of this video you are in a place called La Buffa. . , Feliz Navidad means Merry Christmas. Hope you went to go see the La Quemada. which is the ruins of Chicomeztoc. The Huichol are not the original Indigenous people of Zacactecas they claim they originate from San Luis Potosi but migrated to the states of Zacatecas, Durango and Jalisco. Because of enslavery due to Silver mining in Zacatecas there were many tribes brought in to work the mines many assimilated into the Mexican culture to survive thus losing culture and traditions. But the Huichol are a strong people and regardless seem happy not living in mainstream society but up in the hills and desrts of Zacatecas. I hope you bought some of their beautiful beadwork.
nice
nice
thanks for the appreciation
All faith is of one spirit. It's not the destruction of what is of the physical world that interrupts the spiritual connection but it is our master of life demonstrating his glorious alternative option
Their language is fading as Spanish consumes the native speakers. Struggles of indigenous communities around the world.
It’s so sad hoping all the indigenous people learn their languages and liberate themselves.
Where this Video was made, in what part of Zacatecas?

very nice video...thanks.
how terrible... you could at least five words in Spaniah. shamful
not Mexican , Hispanic or latino. they are natives just as much as the Cherokee , Navajo the Sioux etc...

haha the language I'm using is the same one that your using "English" And next time you go visit these people learn some spanish so you can communicate with them,
+Quagmire Giggityy The language you are using is picked up to suit your approach to life, also it has not served your to continue to benefit others along the way follow some of my videos and understand what i am trying to explain, every language is old and has not served humanity, these people are land owners Spanish is not what they spoke until they were made to speak. Hence the life of these innocent humans have been suppressed for hundreds of years in the name of religion and political gain. No land owner in of the world is rich they have lost all including their language and their land to outsiders.
Follow and share the true reality of human actions ua-cam.com/video/kTvj4f2zltY/v-deo.html
pero que crees yo si puedo comunicarme con ellos por que soy Mexicana no es bueno que insultes a las personas por que lo unico que el quiere expresar es lo maravilloso que es Mexico y su gente asi que ellos entendieron perfecto

You should learn about the plants of power like peyote. You are walking that day in ancien territories withba lot of history from chichimeca ancestiors then the colonization with the spanish, then the frenchs. The huicoles are ancient people our roots of zacatecas our conection with the semidesert terrain.
I wish you are able to protect these land owners like how I am doing,

It's nice you are trying to at least understand. But sadly the we where forced to forget our own language.
thank you for bringing attention to the originals people and their suffering to post colonized mexico and the saddest thing is that the indigenous peoples of these two great continents the white men named the Americas.

I highly doubt these are Chichimecas, the Chichimecas have been exinct for quite some time and their culture has been lost forever, the Chichimeca Jonaz from Guanajuato are maybe the last of what remains of these people, modern heavily indigenous Zacatecans is the closest you'll get to the Chichimecans that roamed those lands before the Spaniards arrived
