That was a great story in perseverance. Broken leg, 9/11, balancing family/work, Covid and now living the dream. I really love the inspiration for all of the little ones out there that have that dream, it's so important for them to know that they CAN do it.

Wonderful. Particularly struck by Captain Erika's story of the shift in safety culture over the last 20 years and how risk-taking equated to skill, at least for some 'macho' types. Great question, and great insight.

What a great story. I’m considering being a pilot as my career choice. If I do I’m going to relocate to Europe for my training and first 3-5 years flying commercially. USA regulations make it nearly impossible for someone on a modest budget to get certified and flying. My dream is similar to your story. One of my major commercial dreams is to fly an Airbus 220. I love that machine!! Thanks for sharing Cap

I want to thank Captain Erika for sharing her pilot life and her journey. Does Captain Erika have a social media that she posts her flying also ?

At 30:04 the caption reads Boeing 757 but the aircraft in the picture is a AIRBUS A321 otherwise it was a great interview.

Brendan you do the most important thing that is so rare. You let your guests speak. Alaska would be very smart to use this skill in interviews and training. Great listening skills. So many ups and downs in your career window. I imagine you know a lot of great pilots that had to leave to support their families. Couldn’t ride it out. This interview will be shared by many women looking to become pilots. Now give us an ILS into Seward… lol

Fixed it! Thanks for the correction…sent me down an internet deep dive into why some airlines use “air line” and some use “airline”. 👨‍✈️
