I've blacked out from alcohol a couple of times. It is weird knowing things happened and you don't know what you said or did. Thank you for talking about the realities of drinking alcohol. Take care Tim💕

Thank you for your video about drinking. You helped me stop. “Never stop quoting until you quit”. Been a heavy drinker for almost 20 years. Finally 3 months sober. I am not going back to drinking. Keep making these kind of content , because it helped me.
    Thanks again

No shame for admitting these things! I think this helps others who are dealing with alcoholism. I had a lot of friends who did this in college, and some took years and years to sober up. It's hard once you're hooked. But I also think there's usually something deeper that keeps a person coming back. Mental health should always be evaluated when in these situations.

Thank you for sharing, Tim. You don't hold back, and that truth will set us free. I've just thrown out antidepressants (maximum dose) after 25 years!! Now it's time to do the same with alcohol.
I'm off to the library to get some books to fill in the time tonight. ❤

I think this is my first ever youtube comment and Tim youve helped me tremondously with your videos. Im 38 been blacking out since I was 14 prob blacked out 100 times. Always a what you call social drinker and alot of times one glass a wine daily until the nights where I went all out. I havent drank in 6 months besides a few non alcohol beers. Blackouts are scary. No joke and totally embarrassing. One of the hardest things in life has been to not drink but it can be done as others have done it. Just like Tim says. Keep quitting till you quit. We can all do it :)

I'm 51 now and grew up with a alcoholic dad who is a WW2 veteran. His anger issues scared me to never drink. The most alcohol I use is one glass of wine a year. My dad is 96 now and went sober around 80. I love my dad no matter what.❤thank you Tim for caring to help out, being outspoken on a tough addiction concern.

I've probably been blackout drunk 10-20 times if I had to wager a guess. It's so embarrassing to admit. My worst one was when one morning I woke up with my head spinning, the table in my room completely broken and literally having 0 recollection of the night before. It was scary. Here in Ireland we call that 'the fear'.

I lived with someone who apparently “blacked out” from alcohol. I never knew what it was because I actually thought it included them “passing out”. But No! We are talking about a fully alert and functioning adult! It was like being with Dr Jekyl and Mr Hide !!! He adamantly denied entire days of occurrences. Had no memory of things he did/said. The blackouts progressed and lasted DAYS at time! It was absolutely bizarre and scary!

I use to blackout almost every time I drank. For me luckily it just happened to be a “phase” I went through in college, but that year I drank consistently was probably one of the worst years of my entire life.

Great message Tim I've only blacked out once from drinking and threw up the next day too..Too much mixing Tequila with other things..I felt like shit for 3 days..I was 28 at the time..more importantly that feeling of throwing up hugging that piece of porcelain for dear life and feeling sick was good enough to not do that again..I learned you don't mix and in my case moderation is the key..My Dad could drink like a sailor and after his 2 DUIs I didn't want to follow in those footsteps..LIFE lesson learned.

    Hey Tim,
I just wanted to say what a blessing you are to my life…on July 4th of this year I ended up practically blacking out and driving my car all throughout the city where I live not remembering and not even knowing what I was doing… I was followed and pursued by a few state troopers but supposedly never stopped until I got home then I was arrested for eluding, dui, and reckless driving… this has already significantly made such a negative impact on my life and it hasn’t even been a week… I should’ve known a few years ago when I woke up in harbor view trauma center with a broken jaw and had my jaw wired shut for 2 months…or when I blacked out and fought my best friend and almost crashed the car we were in when he was driving… I have had many many recent blackout nights driving home not even knowing how I even got there but no damage to my vehicle, myself, or others… it’s insane waking up to a completely terrified feeling of “what happened”
Thank you again for who you are and what you stand for. You are already changing my life in such a positive way. I have hope, and I thank you.

What’s interesting though is if you see a video of yourself or a friend tells you about something that happened, the memories start to come back. It’s like the memories are still stored in your brain somewhere you just can’t readily recall them. At least that has been my experience with blackouts.

I had my first black out from alcohol one year ago this month. I don’t remember what occurred from 9 ish p.m to 1 ish a.m. very blurry until about 8 a.m. I didn’t feel good. I puked but was eager to get back to my home. I lost interest in drinking since then. My neck still has a pinch type sharp pain in it from being manhandled by a security guard for something I don’t even remember and still do not know about. Yep, it is true. I will never know what happened.
I have lost my craving for alcohol, except occasionally. Now that I don’t drink much i notice a lot of changes when I do! I feel more grumpy the next day and get anxiety and depression because alcohol gives a dopamine rush, and when you have a dopamine rush then there is a time period of maybe sadness afterwards.
I’m grateful to not be spending my money on alcohol anymore. I’m happy I have rules for myself now.

I just threw away all the beer i had left, I'm so tired of this feeling. I've been watching your videos for awhile now, i think I'm finally at the point I'm ready to quit. I've quit a few times, recently when i started back i only drink once a week, i used to drink every day so i considered it a step up. I felt like it was enough since I'm not as bad as i used to be but I'm tired of wasting an entire day off just laying in the bed, my hangovers are also a lot worse now that I'm older. I guess i was fooling myself into believing once a week wasn't that bad, or as bad as i was but that's still an entire day wasted drunk and another day wasted being hungover. I'm at the point i want my days off back, my time off is fleeting and i don't want to waste what little time i have being sick. Thanks Tim, I know it's easy to talk about it now but I'm going to come back here when it's really tough and I'm off again, that's when the battle really starts.

One blackout I had. I woke up the next morning in my apartment. There was a massive pile of clothes on my bedroom floor. I completely emptied out my closets and all my clothes were just there in one big pile on the floor. No idea what I was doing.

my cousin (40) has been drinking till he blacks out since he was in his mid 20s and now in the last few years it's every time he drinks. more than 1/2 a bottle of whiskey almost every single day. I don't foresee him going past 45. I have told him so many times to quit but to no avail. Feel poor for his daughter.
