I’m a rad tech at a clinic and my work essentials are: water bottle, cold crew with cream, Pulse ox (our docs like them with covid), pens, planner, any bulk Costco snacks, compression socks (lol), Apple Watch, deodorant, extra masks, sanitizer, hand cream, chapstick, feminine products, and any size of pad of paper/small journals. I hope this helps! I was cross trained in Lab and CMA due to covid but I enjoy helping others 🙂 Cheers!
Congrats on the new job!! If you’re willing to, I (and I bet a lot of others 😂) would love to see your journey/process of studying for and learning CT and MRI! I just got accepted into an RT program and your vids are so encouraging to watch 😁
Okay I love this vlog! I feel like I'm in a college course specifically in human anatomy and physiology learning the terms again ahah. Love this!! Makes your vlog unique!
I just know if I had to start a new job rn i’d be so anxious and stressed, I hope you had a great start! You look very happy, can’t wait for the next vlog🥰
When I trained in MRI I had a note book 📓 to write down all the notes on positioning, scan planning and even some pictures I drew. I also bought a MRI and CT pathology book, which is very helpful because if you see certain pathology you have to call a Radiologist because that pt may have Togo straight to the hospital. Also in the book it tells you what protocols to run. I bring lunch, snacks, headphones, gum, vitamins, water and thats about it 😄 Sometimes I bring my drone or skateboard haha for my brakes Good luck with your journey. MRI can be a pain in the beginning but if you worknhard and you are interested you get way better.
I love watching your videos so much girl! I'm about your age and also an x-ray tech so its nice to see someone doing their thing on UA-cam!! I'm also learning MRI at the moment so its cool seeing us on the same boat lol. My essentials are a water bottle, my apple watch, hand lotion and hand sanitizer, extra masks (like a lot lmfao) and some snacks!!
Oh wow, I'm so glad you posted this video! I really love learning about your career and seeing whatever you are able to show! That's awesome about the flexibility of the scrub colour, do you have a favourite colour?
Have 7y of CT & RX experience. It takes maybe 1-3 weeks to learn all the possibilities of RX positions. However to learn CT scan, it will take several months to be really good at it (knowing how to scan, which procedure to use, and how much contrast/delay is required before the scan happens.) I dont know how fast the workload is, but at my hospital we do like 30-35patiënt / 5h on CT scan. Than another 25 patiënt from 2pm untill 7pm. And than you are on call, during the night once a week. But you need to work the next day, now matter if you did get called. Cardiac, abdomen, thorax, orthopedic, ... with or without contrast. A CT scan can be completed in 2-3minutes. And it takes maybe 7min to get the patiënt in, hook him up on the contrast injector and leave the room (after checking his kidneys if they can even handle the contrast. You dont want to destroy some kidneys.) In total we do like 300+ patient with 6 working nurses/tech a day. (including echo, mammo, RX and CT). Now i'm being trained on MRI. I use www.mrimaster.com to help me. We work from 7am untill 0.00 pm to minimize the waiting list. Covering 3 shifts. I wish you the very best learning CT & MRI. The most important to know, is what a coronal, sagital and axial view is and how you can get this through positioning the patiënt/Changing parameters on the CT & MRI scanners. We use Siemens. And for the love of god, check the kidney function, the dosage of contrast & confirm the name and date of the patiënt. whats in my bag? Mostly snacks and water. You'll burn away those calories in no time, doing a job like this.
X-ray machines with remotes are so cool when you first see them. Then you use them for a while and realize they decided to ignore the ergonomics completely (because it has a remote??) and it's harder to move manually than any other machine.
I am in CT school! Just finished my clinical. Mosbys is the holy bible for learning CT for the registry. I’m hoping to take my boards in May! Good luck! And love you girly! Keep advocating! 🥰
Hi Julia! I was wondering where your black long sleeve is from that you wore under your scrubs. I’ve been looking for a material like that to wear under my scrubs. Thanks! 😊

How do you build confidence when you’re nervous? I struggle with anxiety when I’m new to anything. Also, I’m the biggest introvert and I know you are too.. any advice?

@Emerson Owen I’ve heard of the charging magnet stopping and not charging and it turning off on its own? Have you experienced anything weird. Might give it a try with my old one!

when it comes to Anatomy, is it general or more in depth? what should I start reading about it to prepare myself ?
