    A couple of things to add:
    1. The colourful fabric I have used in this video is interlined. You can see a video on the interlining here: ua-cam.com/video/uWadIr_0ODA/v-deo.html I used a silk crepe de chine by Chiara Santoni from Joel & Sons for the exterior fabric and and interlined this with a cotton sateen from Fabric Godmother (both UK online shops). The silk would be too lightweight for this dress if it had not been interlined; both layers cut out and adhered together and treated as one. Any questions let me know!
    2. With regard to the sizing the pattern currently works for the following measurements:
    Bust: 33" - 45" (83cm - 114cm) / Waist 25" -38" (63cm - 96cm) / Hip 35" - 47"(89cm - 119cm). However I would recommend that you look at the finished garment measurements, because you will have some 'give' from the above figures. For example the maximum waist finished garment measurement is approximately 45 1/2" (115cm) (without darts sewn).
    Please let me know if you are not covered in this range of sizes, and if you would be interested in patterns? I do plan to create patterns in larger measurements, however I personally believe that to create a 'great fit' I don't want to continue grading this pattern to make a larger size. If there is the interest I will draft another pattern to suit the larger range of sizes. If this appeals to you I would love to know your approximate measurements; if you feel happy to share them please email info@madetosew.com, so that I can make sure the patterns work for you! Thank you, Aneka x

      Could you please pin this comment to the top? I was about to ask about the interlining as there was no mention of it during the video, but thought to scan the comments prior to asking. So glad you posted this. Thanks.
      Also, I've sewn many dresses in the last 40 years, but never thought to interline silk crepe de chine, which would explain why I've avoided wearing a silk dress I made 30 years ago! It was too flimsy and it never occurred to me to interline it. Duh.

    seriously, the reason I decided to learn how to sew was that I loved simple dresses like the shift dress but I didn't want to buy them off the rack and wear the same print that everyone else would. I love this tutorial! It's so clear and easy to follow. The pattern is fool proof and so versatile. I made a blouse using your pattern and it turned out lovely. now I'm on the hunt for a perfect fabric for my dress :) thank you!

    I struggle with math,
    I can't back the car out of the driveway without hitting something,
    I can't cook something without burning it,
    BUT, I was able to download, print and follow your instructions completely! (First download for me)
    It was as easy as falling off a log.
    I also added my own side pockets.
    Sincerely, thank you!

    I just finished making this dress, every step was super easy to follow along with. Starting from the printing of the pattern to actually sewing it, the instructions were super clear. This was my first garment I made using an actual pattern and I'm very pleased with the look of it. I am looking forward to making the top (I made the dress) and then using the same fabric for an A-line skirt. I struggled with pattern matching on my dress (I used a plaid) and that was the only part that got me very frustrated, however the end product is something I would actually pay money for in a shop, so it was worth it.

      Thank you for the reference, I'm going to have a look at it now. I used your french seam tutorials to make this garment with french seams, and the sleeve is also set with french seams. I love your video's. I would love for you to do intermediate videos for someone who knows how to sew but videos that make your clothes a little more professional and fitted. My problem is fitting. I have watched many videos but they way you explain things I can understand.
    Thanks for all of your hard work on these videos!!!!

      Thank you for your lovely message. I plan to launch some pattern cutting and adjusting tutorials for both fit and design using this pattern as a basis. However you can use any other simple pattern. I would be happy to do some on fit adjustments and am hoping that people can send in their issues for help. Thank you so much. Aneka x

    Thank you for the a wonderful video. When you finish the side seams with the overlocker, do you take any fabric off? It seems like you get a closer, nicer finish if some is cut off on the serger, and if so, do you change any of the seam allowances to allow for the amount cut off?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  7 років тому +2

      Pleased you found it. I don't take any of the fabric off with the overlocker, as this would amend the seam allowances. I run the edge of the fabric right up next to the knife on my overlocker. I hope you find this ok? Aneka

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  6 років тому

      Hi Brittney, great news. So pleased I could help. I personally overlock mine down to the width of the overlocker. I run the stitching line from the machine through so that the overlocker stitches almost on top of this. Hope this helps? Aneka

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  7 років тому +1

      Hi Amy, of course. I hope this helps, Aneka xx

    Thanks for the great tutorial. The length of the video discouraged me at first but I’m so glad I stuck through it. I learned so many tricks on how to finish the garment well which is one thing I do not do well.
    How would you adjust the pattern for a cup A?

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  5 років тому

      Thank you so much Carolyn, I am really pleased that you enjoyed the tutorial, despite the length. Huge thanks. You need to do a SBA to adjust for an A cup. Measure your High Bust and Bust, I explain here: ua-cam.com/video/b5LOX7_ItaM/v-deo.html and then I have two different tutorials that show you how to do a SBA: ua-cam.com/video/cAag52hkr3k/v-deo.html this one is more detailed. But this one covers the waist dart: ua-cam.com/video/ynNXldjno2k/v-deo.html Hope this helps? Aneka x

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  5 років тому

      In terms of how much to remove and what size to pick I would measure your high bust and add 3" (as if you were a C Cup). Pick that size pattern. And then remove 2" from the pattern (1:" each side) to make it an A Cup. It will probably remove the side dart. Aneka x

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  7 років тому

      Hi Elizabeth, yes I did interline my fabric. The top colourful layer is a silk crepe de chine by Chiara Santoni from Joel & Sons, that was interlined with a cotton sateen from Fabric Godmother (both UK based online stores). Here is a video I show the process: ua-cam.com/video/uWadIr_0ODA/v-deo.html, hope this helps. Aneka x

    I'm waiting for my download......can't wait. One question though, what adjustments do I need to make if I want to use a knit/stretch fabric? Thank you. Really enjoyed your video!

    • @MadetoSew
      @MadetoSew  6 років тому

      Hi Keith, I hope you were able to download the pattern ok? When it comes to knit / stretch fabrics there is a slight ? as it does depend on how stretchy your fabric is? You could follow this exact pattern in a medium to thick weight jersey with little stretch (double knit / ponte roma), but you would need to make the pattern smaller for a lightweight or stretchy fabric. You will basically need to remove the ease from the pattern and more... unfortunately it depends so much on how stretchy the fabric you want to use is. Hope this helps? Aneka
