- I head out alone for a solo overnight bushcraft tarp camp on a hunting preserve. Set up a Tarp Tent configuration next to a stream. Make a campfire and cook a pork chop. Drink some beers and enjoy my banana flask whiskey. In the morning, I tear down and hike out in the rain. Hope you enjoy!

You are hilarious. With your beer can foot smashing (the first 9ne scared the hell outta me as the timing was perfect for it to) and belching!
@@wwcwcp09 Glad you like it bud!
Awesome 👍😎
Enjoyed your video as usually! Lovely spot, nice little stream. The last time I camped with my daughters by the sea, it was a hell of a storm and downpour, and they liked it better than any peace and calm)))) The tent held up, and we ended up sleeping as babies! Thnx for your video, dude!
That sounds like an awesome trip. You created a memory they will keep forever.
I live in Tennessee and they are lots of awesome places to camp. Great video
Another great video Sam. Thank you for doing what you do!
Thanks William! I know you've been watching since the beginning. It means a lot. Cheers!
small plot sent me over here. ✅✌️😎👍
Kevin is the man. Happy to have you on board buddy!
What you've done with that tarp is amazing. And, thanks for showing the set up in a way that a regular dude like me can understand it and not be pre-discouraged to try it out.
Thanks man! That's such a nice compliment. That configuration is called "tarp tent" and it's actually not hard to set up. The only problem being you don't have a floor, but I just lay a small ground tarp down.
@@CampingwithSamBananas if it ever stops raining here enough for me to get out, I'll be giving it a try.
@@OutlawCamper good luck, If I was to use it for a long term, like 3 to 4 days I would want a floor placed down, I use a horse blanket that's very light weight maybe less then a pound, I place that down then my mattress which is light weight compact, blow it up, sleeping bag, makes for a comfy bed... hope you figured it out.. Happy camping..
@@Regina0964 oh, I've spent more nights on a horse blanket than I care to remember. I've got some tarp stuff coming up on my channel, but nothing like Sam's stuff. He's an artist.
@@OutlawCamper I love my horse blankets. I also use it when I tent camp, place my tent over it so I don't end up with a tear in the bottom... happy camping, I'll check out your channel, I'm starting a channel soon myself, going around places in Wisconsin... should be good, others love these camping videos..
Yes rock get water in them and do crack and sometimes send shards flying . I have had them split in half. Even on top of a barrel stove.
Loving the banana flask
Thanks! I might have do some 99 Bananas in there next time.
Amen
Hey Sam love that trap setup. As always great video.
Thanks Mack!!
That’s awesome what you have done with the tarp it looks exactly like a tent . Excellent stuff. Great video again my friend. Keep them coming and I will be watching. John from Sheffield in England
Thanks Jon! I think I'll be doing this again soon, but this time with my dog. Same tarp and same location I think
I LIKE YOU VIDEO...NATURAL...WHIT SIMPLE TENT

Very nice tarp tent set up.
Thanks man, I appreciate that!
So good kip going my friend.
That means a lot bud, thank you!
Good job love your videos keep. It up love watching
Thanks Roger!
Nice camping site. Very pretty with the stream 😊
Thanks Karen, glad you liked it! This is one of my favorite spots.
Never had a rock explode in a fire pit but I've definitely had them split into pieces, multiple times. Usually don't find out until we take the pit apart or put the fire out.
Yeah same here, that's what happens to me as well.
Was it me only hearing children yelled out loud in the forest? Nice video man. I liked what you did with the tarp.
Yes! I tried to get it all edited out, but there was a family playing nearby. It’s public land and people come to hike and just hang out and enjoy nature.
@@CampingwithSamBananas Aaa..thats get rid of the chill. Thought I was hearing something else. LOL
Hi Mr Bananas, new sub here. Really enjoying your videos, good stuff. ATB Jason 👍
Thanks so much man! Much appreciated my friend.
I lyk camping with the rain. But I don't have any material to camping coz I don't have extra money for tha material.. I'm ALWYS watching ur adventures.
Hey man, I really appreciate having you along! What county are you in?
Thank you so much information caping very beautiful garden l like where is this..?
Glad you liked it! It's in Michigan, USA
You should do those fire reflectors for your campfire. I see a lot of the bushcraft channels do those.
I know! I have some big bushcraft plans as soon as the mosquitos die down. I've already got a few big structures planned out.
Thanks for the shout out! Love your vids
Love you Mom
@@CampingwithSamBananas love you too son. liked, posted, shared
Well done....choice spot.
Thanks bud!
That blueberry beer sounds dope. I'm over here drinking cat pee
I'm heading to Cleveland in a month. Think I'll be able to get Space Kitty out there?
@@CampingwithSamBananas one can only hope! It's local to my city, I'm not sure how far their distribution reaches; although it is a fairly big operation so fingers crossed!
Another awesome and entertaining video!!! One question,When you were tearing down your tarp I noticed a tent setup behind you?
Haha I've had to answer for this one a lot 🤣 A buddy of mine was camped farther in and saw me on the hike out. We decided to go in to town and grab food but he had to wait for me to tear down. He has the MSR HUBBA HUBBA and it pops up in like literally 60 seconds. He threw it up to put his gear in since it was raining. You can also see his foot in my sign off at the end.
Just an observation, at the end when you were packing up, is that another tent behind you??..great stuff, great camp!!...🍌
Hey bud! Yes it was like super late at night and a friend joined me out of the blue. And he didn't want to be on camera, so I didn't bother explaining it on camera. You can also see his foot on screen at another point when I'm saying goodbye to the camera in the morning. He showed up after I was done filming for the night.
Nice
Thanks bud! I'm going to do this again soon but with a basic blue home depot tarp.
Phong cảnh đẹp quá
Cảm ơn bạn và rất vui vì bạn đã thích nó
If rocks could soak up water, they would be sponges or popcorn and I don't think they are either. What rocks do is hold heat so that when it is cold you can heat some rocks in the fire and put them under your bedding. Might be fun to experiment.
After I uploaded this, I saw a video from Corporal's Corner. He was saying that in 20 years outdoors, he's never seen a rock explode. He said sometimes they crack and that's it. So I'll probably just go ahead and use the river rocks in the future.
@@CampingwithSamBananas I have seen (heard) them explode, more like a pop, not much louder than a ladyfinger and was hit by rock fragments.
@Red Skelton water can be trapped inside rock, I know it sounds crazy and is very rare, but it does happen.

New friend here, nice video
Glad to have you on board!
Michigan, I grew up in Michigan. Camped all over that place. I just remember the damn mosquitoes making it miserable.
It's the worst part, that's why cold weather camping is the best. Can't wait for that! This is southern MI, by the way. Near Hillsdale.
People are so worried about carona. Ill never get carona. I buy Budweiser. Umm redds black chery ale is as dangerous as twisted tea if not more dangerous. Yummy stuff.
I need to check out that Black Cherry Ale you keep mentioning
Hey Sam . I know putting these videos together are not easy. Do you have a po box or something we can support? You should come here and camp northfork creek.... I in ohio. Love the content.
Dude I really appreciate you asking. I’m going on Monday to get a P.O. Box and I’ll come back here and update the description of all the videos. I’ll go ahead and google Northfork Creek so I can look I into that.
@12:34 looks like your huntin vampires hehe
Haha yep for sure dude! Never thought of that but yea
When you have to blow it up
it's self inflating
I may be commenting twice on your videos as I am beginning to watch them again. We have a large game management area near my home but camping is only allowed in designated areas. Thats not good as the alcoholics and dopers continually roam these areas on four wheelers at night. I would have to stealth camp away from these areas to feel safe.
Yeah that's not good at all! Some of these areas can definitely be dangerous. I've never had an issue here. Almost 100% of people I encounter are day hikers from the city or hunters. They've all been super nice.
I've had the exploding rock thing happen to me.
Interesting! Good to know I will keep that in mind.
Hey Sam, me again, just catching up on some more of your camping. Hiking videos, I was wondering where do you live? Is it Canada? You just don't sound Canadian.. just checking, great video's, . I wished I could come and hang out and camp with you for a few days, do some hiking.... I live in Wisconsin.. or you could come here and we could go to some cool places, my favorite is by Devils lake.
Hey Regina! I live in Toledo OH. So all my videos so far are northern Ohio, Southern MI. Haha I love Canada, but I'm American. Hey by the way the rain camping video is up.
@@CampingwithSamBananas cool I'll go check it out. I'm sure i will be committing on it lol..
I hope you didn't get to wet..
@@Regina0964 A little but not too bad. Thanks for saying hi to my mom lol! That was nice of you.
@@CampingwithSamBananas Not a problem, she's seems very happy for you..
Banana Schnapps? 😊
That's a good idea
Never watched other guys videos that drank so much, do you have a hang over
Not usually, but once in a while. I'm spacing out 6 beers over a 4-5 hour period and also a little bit of bourbon of course (banana flask). Plus I try to drink at least a liter of water, sometimes two. So it works out pretty well most of the time.
Are you from Michigan? If so, where from? I'd like to know some good places to go dispursed camping.
Hi Tim! I'm from NW Ohio but if you're from Michigan I'd recommend Manistee and Huron National forests, but there's also a ton of state forests up there. You can camp pretty freely in any National Forest or State Forest in MI. I recommend grabbing the AllTrails app as well. Good luck!
Im guessing he's NOT concerned about the Michigan dog man?
🤣 he’s much further north than me anyway lol
Okay, how did you grow the third foot....@39:40 lol Great video!
How did I miss that?! A buddy of mine was camped further in. He passed by me hiking out. Stopped and kicked it with me while I tore down/filmed. Then we hiked out together and went into town to get breakfast. He didn't want to be on camera.
@@CampingwithSamBananas It's all good! Love the videos!!
@@dcmore8488 thanks bud!
If you were solo, where did the foot come from and then quickly disappear from the right side of the screen at 39:40??

@@CampingwithSamBananas It's awesome to run into someone you know while out in the wild. Been watching your videos from start to now and enjoying all of them. Glad to hear that no spirits crawled up in your sleeping bag. LOL.
@@hikingandbackpackingadventures thanks bud! Glad to hear you are enjoying them 👍
Yeah, so last night. I'm a pretty large man at 6' 2" and 273 lbs. But even with a powerful AR-15, whatever was in the darkness by the carport made me chicken out, and since I have an elderly dad with dementia to worry about, I think I wisely decided to return inside and call 911. Two sheriff's deputies were dispatched to respond, and while they saw no one, they did inform me that they also heard strange noises, but that they were coming from deeper in the woods surrounding my property. One of the deputies was a K-9 officer and he walked his dog to the perimeter of the woods, at which point the dog refused to go any further. This is what the officer told me later. Thank God for first responders, but it was (and) still remains a strange and spooky situation. They took a report and said to call again if I experienced anything else that was odd. I think I want to move to town now. Lol
That's nuts!!
I have one piece of advice, don't wear a hat with antlers on it . LOL
🤣🤣
Just curious here. What does Sam banana keep in his banana flask?
Always bourbon and it's usually Monkey Shoulder.
I don't understand these bushcraft channels that think they need to be so diligent about the fire. As long as it's out and can't start a fire after you leave, the coals are good for the soil. Nothing about that fire is anything that wasn't already there. Besides, in a few days, most of the signs of a fire will be gone anyway.
Boy scouts ingrained that into me LOL!
@@CampingwithSamBananas Ever go to the H. Roe Bartle Scout Camp in Missouri? We live not too far from that.
@@bubblehed738 No I've never been out that far before. I live in Toledo, so I spend most of time in the surrounding areas. This video was shot on a 2600 hunting preserve in Southern Michigan, so we do have some neat outdoor spaces near us. Just have to know where to look 😉
For one thing, it's to insure nothing remains hot, small critters will rummage through the coals especially if there was any food cooked over the fire, plus a pile of coals can be a bit messy if you don't notice them when setting up camp, especially when tarping.
Do you have to register to camp there or do you just "go with the flow"?
Chicken breast looks good 👍
It was! That was my camping go-to for a long time.
Very interesting tarp set up, I like it! What a beautiful area.
Glad you liked it :) This is the same area as my most recent camp, but in different seasons.
If you're in Michigan, why aren't you camping in The Manistee-Huron National Forest? 2 separate forests sharing the same name. The Huron National forest is on the East Side of Michigan while the Manistee National Forest is on the westside of the state. Going to a Hunting preserve is just lazy. Lol
I'm aware of MHNF. I've done several of my YT videos there. Unfortunately, I can't drive 4 hours every time I want to go camping. I'm out at least twice per month, sometimes more. I'm building this channel so that I can do this for a full time job.
