"In 1977, a singer/song writer/producer by the name of Chris Sedgwick asked his close friend Ozzy Osbourne, who was living in the U.K., to sing back-up vocals on a cover of the ANIMALS song 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood'. Ozzy complied, and along with the help of some local musicians by the name of Benjamin Marcus, and Caldwell, the track was laid down and pressed on a 7" vinyl single, and distributed under the label Birmingham Free Music to local pubs to be played in the jukeboxes. The B-side of this single contained a song entitled 'Have You Ever Bin Loved' which was sung by Chris Sedgwick alone (no Ozzy). It is said that only 100 copies were pressed, of which most were destroyed in a fire. "This song ['Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood'] has remained unheard for almost the last 30 years...until now.
That doesn't quite make sense as Juke boxes rook records with a large hole in the middle in order for the mechanism to grip onto them. 7" singles pressed specifically for juke boxes were made with the large hole. They had to have an adapter (called a spider) if you wanted to play them on anything other than a juke box. Singles pressed for home use with the option of jukebox use had some cut-outs around the middle so you could break the centre out by pushing it with your thumbs and create the larger hole required for the juke box to be able to grip it. you could still clip a spider in if you wanted to play it at home later. However, the photo of the record on this video shows a completely solid pressing with no option to break out the middle for a jukebox. This would suggest it was only ever intended for home (or possibly DJ) use.
I'm surprised how many people don't know the original oh, no offense that these people but Burton was a monster vocalist and the original blows this all out the water not that this is bad
I really love Ozzy's line "I'm just a soul who's intentions are good, oh lord please don't let me be misunderstood." I think Ozzy's voice is very underrated. It's different but unique and very very hard to copy. I've tried to cover, and karaoke his songs and it is very difficult.
Only great thing about the internet is once in a while you stumble upon a lost mindblowing gem like this,Ozzy Sabbath head here and this is like christmas morning ❤
Is this reminding anyone else of "You Wont Change Me" off Technical Ecstacy? Same key, similar vocal lines.... maybe this arrangement served as a inspiration to an extent?
This arrangement definitely has the sound of Oz's last two albums with BS. What a crazy period it was from '75-79 for rock bands. Little did anyone know the early 80's metal scene would completely blow the roof off the genre and provide us some amazing masterpieces.
3 minutes of happiness! Ozzy sings very earnestly, his voice is magic! I compared this song with other artists, but only Ozzy so sensually sings .. Love it !!!!!!
I worked with Chris Sedgwick in the second incarnation of free music and i have this single ..he gave me a copy. most of them were destroyed in a warehouse fire..
@@user-gr6tl5xh6t i haven't got a record player unfortunately .. its quite rare this record could be worth something in years to come .. I remember him telling me the story about it years ago .
ozzy singing lead here my friend dennis macarten r.i.p told me he played bass on this he showed me the single he played in necromandus who minus there singer were ozzys very first. briefly blizzard of ozz.
ohh fuck! i've been seraching this song for a very long time ago!!! a part of this song was on the menu of my ozzy camden 2003 dvd and i never knew what song was that!!! manymany thanks for this rare song! :D
Jody - Jim Norton (Jim & Sam Show on Sirius XM / O&A fame) mentioned he loved your dad's version on the show today. I'm sure he'd like to have you on the program to chat about the track's origins, etc.
How has this escaped my ears for so long? There needs to be a release of ALL the Ozzy era outtakes/ b sides/demos/ outside recordings etc. For sure it would be better than that garbage 13 lp that unfortunately is Sabbath's epitaph.
Sounds like ozzy is just singing backing/guesting as he only sings the chorus. Anyhow, sounds like a polished 70s chart song. The Animals raw bluesy version is better.
My Father Chris Sedgwick is the lead vocalist on this track. Ozzy sings the chorus.
Jody Sedgwick 👍
Jody Sedgwick What???
I love u jody...
Respect to your father sedgwick 🍻
Jody Sedgwick that’s dope. Got any recordings?
Great track.

So this is from 1977, not 1975 as the title says?
Got to wonder if Don Arden had something to do with that fire.
Thanks! For sharing.

Ozzy has the most unique voice in the history of music history.
he can go high and low
Sometimes it's like he has a built-in vocoder down ihs throat. :p
Gud Dergo Freddy Mercury.
sure thats not Niall Quinn from the cranberries
Thats not ozzy! Thats a scam

That chorus couldn't be mistaken for anyone but Oz.
People, this is most definitely OZZY singing in this. I've been listening to Ozzy for 40 years and i know him when I hear him
craigster1573 definitely him on the chorus no?
It's him on the chorus
My same reply
No this is Chris Sedgwick on the main bits, it’s Ozzy in the chorus.
Only great thing about the internet is once in a while you stumble upon a lost mindblowing gem like this,Ozzy Sabbath head here and this is like christmas morning ❤
Wow,his voice fits this song perfectly.
Yea, it'd be good if he sang more than a couple lines.
rockrabbitt bill ward
The way of Ozzy Osbourne IS recognizable between thousands..
has the Technical Ecstasy sound to the vocals, this is kool
Makes me understand that album's influences better.
when you think you herd them all
And then there's one black sheep that strays away from the path
Wars, Eric burdon did it better....
Eric Burdon is better....WAR....
@@loriholman6125 what is it good for?!
👀 ❤ U's
This is really great, makes you wish Oz had done more like this. He's just such a great singer
Wtf I swear I find a new Ozzy song everyday and I've been listening for over 20 years! 😂
🕶👍
Is this reminding anyone else of "You Wont Change Me" off Technical Ecstacy? Same key, similar vocal lines.... maybe this arrangement served as a inspiration to an extent?
Fuck, you wont change me is so underrated as hell. People shit on technical ecstacy too much, not a bad album.
@@xxxxSHADOWxxxxxX technical estacy is a masterpiece.
@@xxxxSHADOWxxxxxX Because it's their worst album from the ozzy era. It's still good just not as good as the rest of their stuff.

Ozzy's a one of a kind vocalist, a man with a musical identity. What a pleasant surprise to hear him sing this song !
3 minutes of happiness! Ozzy sings very earnestly, his voice is magic! I compared this song with other artists, but only Ozzy so sensually sings .. Love it !!!!!!
best version of this song, in my opinion
Better than the original, in my opinion. Love the chorus!
The best would be on Eric Burdon's album Sun Secrets.
Anything with 1970's Ozzy is the best version. Of anything
Wow I just discovered this had no idea it existed. Ozzy is my fav lead singer ever and I loved the original ever since I saw american me.
I worked with Chris Sedgwick in the second incarnation of free music and i have this single ..he gave me a copy. most of them were destroyed in a warehouse fire..
would be interesting to see an upload of the other side of it if you still have it!

Every feel as if bound to the floor and the ceiling needs attention but you cant break the force holding you down.
What a great cover of a classic song!
Thanks. I love hearing Ozzy at his peak 🤘
@Fran Cesco Sabotage 🤘

Original artist is nina simone in 1964 but god damn amazing cover by these gentlemen
thanks for sharing these gem
i do hope that song for jim &when i come down shows up soon
also the rare stuff from dumfries
Gorgeous :)
Ozzy is like a cry'in boy.
His voice is like the male, metal version of Grace Slick,or Janis Joplin. Not the best "technical" singers, but truly gifted with One of a kind voices!
Ozzy does not "try" to hit chord, like many singers do. But he hits them naturally. Sings from the heart. Only a hanful of great singer can do it.
Wow I never heard this version. It’s really good. The lead box remind me of the singer in Spinal Tap,, but it’s AWESOME. Ozzy sounds sooo great too!
I really like this version
Jesus christ , every body know ozzy's voice, ozzy have unique taste...
cool tune!
I need that vinyl!!
Ozzy's voice is the best.
ozzy singing lead here my friend dennis macarten r.i.p told me he played bass on this he showed me the single he played in necromandus who minus there singer were ozzys very first. briefly blizzard of ozz.
lovely. god bless ozzy
Wow!
Brasil, \0/, Eu amoo Ozzy!

Always loved the animals version, I didn't know this version existed! Cool
Ozzy harmonies on the chorus , from the Sabotage Technical Ecstasy era.
AWESOME.... Animals cover 💯🤟🤟🤟🤟🤟🎸🎸🎸🎸🎸🥁🥁🥁🥁⚡🤪🤪🤪🤪😜😜😜😜😮😮😮!!!!
This is probably the best unknown Ozzy song
wow!
Magnifica
Ozzy sings the Chorus..and back up vocals are points
Where have they been hiding this?

According To The Documentary OZZY made this song during his Break from Black Sabbath: HINTING A SOLO Career in The Making !!!
do you have a d/l link for this
i'd like to have it ♫♫♫
Very goog
Where does I can find that vinyl?amazin cover song of Ozzy
❤️️!!
The best version of this song.
I no longer really try to emulate Ozzy's timbre, it's too unique, I just make do hitting the notes and putting my balls into it.
OFC ITS OZZY IN multi vocal as thay used in thos years so his voice soundes like thers more then 1 singing:)
ozzy sings the chorus
"Oh lord, please don't let me sing be-hind Roy Wood"
@ppn22 the guy singing the back-up(?) vocals sounds a LOT like vocals (You can tell by the way he sings when he gets louder)
@skyywide you have to eddit it together in windows movie maker or something.
@bls13thmember how is it underrated ? most people agree he has one of the greatest voices in Rock !
Reading the comments i'd just like to say it is Ozzy and Chris Sedgwick . Not Roy Wood or anyone else.
@DoomMetalSludge I hear the similarities as well. Funny you mention that, I've wondered the same thing myself.
sounds like ozzy to me
Check out Place of Skulls 2002 version...
Is this public domain?
can you dig it
Who played bass guitar?
Who played the guitar?
Ozzy sings the Chorus
is this something to do with the singer from the move?
Sounds like ozzy is just singing backing/guesting as he only sings the chorus.
Anyhow, sounds like a polished 70s chart song. The Animals raw bluesy version is better.
Roy Wood on lead vocal?
Check out Place of Skull's cover...
"Unreleased track?" It's obviously been released, you even have a photo of it. It's just rare.
I didn't know Ozzy did any solo projects in the 70s, sounds like about 1980
Like it! Terrible mix or not - this has POWER!
100% That's ozzy singing back up
Seems like he was trying to sound like Ozzy! What band was he originally from?
eso fue en el mismo año que sacaron Sabotage con Black Sabbath
Who's playing the bass?
My bros go UA-cam - are you a good person by living waters
@igessthsisgrwnup Nina Simone did the song first. The Animals covered it and made it popular.
