I wouldn't call this an alternate version, per se. It sounds like Ozzy's just improvising to get a feel for the vocal melody. This was the first album where they started writing in the recording studio.
@@davidtoddmickens5558 Yeah, this is before he did that lol. These lyrics are literal nonsense, because they are only there for the sake of feeling out the vocal lines and what syllables might sound good. " I know what's going on You people don't really know When I fall in to your place What am I to do? If you go on with your load Don't you ever say Black Sabbath man with your hair so long Didn't realise what he said " This is meaningless babble, because they hadn't yet figured out what the meaning was going to be. It doesn't even rhyme. This is a very normal thing for songwriters to do, literally make up nonsense words to figure out what might sound good, and usually something interesting will emerge and from that they get an idea of what the song might be about. The word children seemed to stick out in this case. Ozzy would make up words just to put something to tape or to ear for geezer to then go in and write lyrics for.

@@Heaview just looked that up, don't really listen to death metal, think that needs a better ear than I have unfortunately. I'm good at Ozzy and most older metal bands
I always loved the original version, but this demo is pretty top notch. Now all we need is a video that shows the actual lyrics. I see some tried to decipher the lyrics phonetically, and it's probably very very close, but I know I'm not alone in wanting to know the actual lyrics to this version.
Sounds like it should have been called save me or save them I never hear children of the grave in this song. The alternate versions usually don't rhyme and this is an example but a damn good song 👌
This is a perfect example of Ozzy not getting the credit he deserves as part of the writing process. He is just making words up to get the melody down. Then Geezer would come in and write the lyrics around Ozzy's melodies.
I love this demo into how Ozzy created vocal melodies. Say what you want but Ozzy benefited from bass players that could write lyrics. Geezer, Daisley, Lemmy.
This must be one that Ozzy wrote the lyrics to. They said he was really good at coming up with a melody for their songs making up some words on the go. Then Geezer would be the one who would come up with the classic lyrics we all know.
