Thanks for posting a fairly frank and straightforward review of your job. It does seem like it would be a great experience, but like all "passion jobs" seems like it probably means low pay and unpaid overtime. Really wish having more applicants than positions didn't automatically mean "we're probably going to take advantage of whoever accepts this job"
Nice video and what a cool job! Volunteering can also be a great way to get involved. A lot of aquariums have volunteer dive teams. It’s hard work though - definitely not a sightseeing dive!
It's depressing how they take advantage of peoples passion for animals and the environment to get away with horrible pay. The salary for an Aquarist here in the United Kingdom is 40% below the national average salary, and is only a fraction above minimum wage. For a job that requires a bachelor's degree and up to or greater than a year of unpaid volunteering experience, as well as a rescue/dive master scuba certification in a lot of cases, that is outrageously underpaid.
There are also way too many people who are willing to do it for free because they think it's cool. Why would they pay when there's a line out the door willing to volunteer? Makes it really hard to compete with.

I think it's good to be realistic about what you're getting into. It's definitely not a job everyone is cut out for.
