thats a neat lil tractor. I got a 1965 allis chalmers B10 Bumblebee. that thing is just awesome, got it running by just rebuilding the carb and setting the points after sitting outside for over 20 years uncovered, it shows its age and im debaiting on painting it, if so i want it original, needs a new seat and battery and i gotta fix the gas tank. but that is the quickest starting thing i ever saw, as long as theres gas in the tank, just takes a tap on the button and its going.
That thing is too cool!! When i used to live in alaska, i always loved the first light dusting of snow on the mountains, like the ones in the background at the beginning of the video.
my neighbor just gave me an old Gibson like this that he inherited from his Grandpa. He thought that his GP had put Chevy wheels on it at one time and I never really looked. I did notice the rear differential has GIBSON cast into it. Going to have to check her over and see how original it is. Looks like it will be fun working on this old girl.
yessir in Longmont. You may be right about the 9 inch. from what Ive read they used whatever they could get thier hands on to build these things. they were excellent products back in the day.
i don’t know by looking at it but i’ve heard that originally gibson sourced most of their parts and they used a chevy rear end until they started producing their own parts so my guess is chevy
I'm fairly certain that the transmission is a BorgWarner T96 from a Willis Jeep. The idea behind Gibson when they started was to use Army surplus to build their tractors. WW2 just ended and there was a lot of surplus. The rear axle I was guessing GM because I know Gibson used them amongst others (I think, ha ha). Why does that tractor look better in your driveway than mine?? LOL......
I think thats what Stretch said it was.. another guy said my impala has the same rearend.. i never noticed... you know.. it DOES look good here dont it! haha
I am not an expert on Gibson, but the rear end on all the ones I saw were early thirties Chrysler pumpkins that are narrowed. That is all I know fella. Cute little tractor. Where did you find the little beast ???
How about my name is Joaquín from Uruguay, I am trying to restore a 1947-48 Gibson Wisconsin tractor, I would like to know if you can give me information to obtain or adapt a carburetor for this tractor. Greetings and thank you very much for your attention
Not sure what tha axle is out of but it is not a Ford 9 inch. Pompkin is th wrong shape and the axles are a floating style. The outer end of the axle has a castle nut on them. The 9 inch has the berring pressed on the axle and a 4 bolt flange with a seal holds it in.
Yeah, you don't have anything to do either, so you need a project to stay busy. :P I'll be watching this, I have a 1970's Case about that size that needs to be made useful. You might give me some Ideas.
mine newest Gibson D has a rear mounted, hand operated winch. Front rims have 55 pound weights and tractor front axle changed and rear rims have 24 inch tires. original owner was a master craftsman with the winch and arch.
I miss my Gibson terribly. That Wisconsin engine had plenty of power for that little rascal, and the steering lever becomes second nature in about two minutes.
Somehow I didn't get to catch your "P" word. I can think of many however, not the least of which is Proud, hm maybe Pointless, Powerful or powerless, Pompas, or possibly passable. Cheers OLDDUDE
I might be using that steering principle to get my tractor running so I can mow my Mom's lawn...the steering pinion gear is stripped om my Ryobi lawn tractor so I can't steer it & I ain't got the money to replace the gear. I will either weld up the old one & cut new teeth or make a new gear from scrap steel, but till then my Mom's lawn is looking like Vietnam...LOL
when you said the "P-word" I got a little nervous, watching it next to my wife... she raised her eyebrows a bit... then you said paint, I could her her breath out. lol... funny the things you get uptight about as you get older. lol..

Way COOL ! I can see you going over the hill on that little thing ! Keep the videos coming I am loving them !!
OH NO, now I got competition in the tractor building!!! Neat little tractor. Dan
A steering stick! Just like in the old Piper Cub I flew back in the 1960s. It sure looks like fun.
And now you've got a Gibson tiller-steer... looks like a model A.
I swear, you come up with the coolest projects!

I'm already over the hill! haha
Shirley Gibson tractors had fenders-hood an grills. If it has a jeep transfer box I have a pto fer it.
1st nice old tractor first time I saw one
cant wait to get started on it
I believe that if you look under your Impaller you'll see a differential real similar to that one. The 64 that I had was a front load like that anyway
i don’t know by looking at it but i’ve heard that originally gibson sourced most of their parts and they used a chevy rear end until they started producing their own parts so my guess is chevy
well when you put it next to the little 3hp Briggs I have in the garage its pretty big!
want to hear her run..looks good
yeah! fun huh!
neat little tractor, you gonna put a steering box n wheel in place of the lever setup ?
the early ones like mine didnt come wif fenders but yep its a yeep! haha

I think thats what Stretch said it was.. another guy said my impala has the same rearend.. i never noticed... you know.. it DOES look good here dont it! haha
it sounds awesome!
I am not an expert on Gibson, but the rear end on all the ones I saw were early thirties Chrysler pumpkins that are narrowed. That is all I know fella. Cute little tractor. Where did you find the little beast ???

@@1963impala2drWaylonWire I hope one day that I will find a barn fresh machine just like you found Waylon. Nice find.
Honkin' little rig!
I think I read that their later bigger models had fenders etc.. dont know anything bout Shirley tho.. haha
I'll tell Santa, maybe you'll get one for xmas ;)
gotta see what they were originally ... i think grey and red
Nice!
you just have to bring that up dont you. hahaha.. its WAITING for me! haha
probably a borgwarner transmission it will say what model on top of it
na..been looking for one of these for 20 years but I only want one :)
someone else said it was a 9 inch..another said its the same thing my impala has.. I have no idea
I think that is a Plymouth rear end. I have a panzer with the same rear end and people have told me it was a Plymouth rear end
not too big, I'd have to read that stats but its stamped on an identical one that I restored.. umm 9 hp I think..
Yea the "P" word, paint it RED and call it "BIG RED".
Nice little tractor.
i wish you had it .. haha
in Longmont they tell me
ill take a look
