I get sooo irritated at videos that say do this now, but I have No idea when now is or when the video was posted. So when you said you had included all the planting dates in the description below I was Very excited. Thank you very much for that. I too am in East Texas ( from Indiana), and I am still learning Texas planting and harvesting times. 👍🏻
THE BEST VIDEO I'VE EVER SEEN Thank you for: The dates to plant The video break down The seed types (in the caption) Planting tips and tricks Seed description: OMG/TY by category and variety, also personal picks Physically showing us how to do it Companion planting: incorporating seeds with already established plants. I've been looking for years for a video that includes all the important facts. What to plant, what kind to plant, when to plant, where to plant, with what to plant, how to plant. Thanks, Monique
SO straight forward! Thank you for specifying the dates for planting, types of crop, and stating clear directions for planting. Best video I've seen on gardening yet.
I also live in Zone 8. I used to live in Zone 3, and had great gardens for such a short growing season. Still new at Fall gardening here in TX. Going to get my carrots in NOW! Lol! Thank you for the video.
Thank you! I planted spinach and lettuce seeds end of Sept and the flipping squirrels (that my neighbor feeds) plow through the beds and each time I try they won’t sprout; only the peas made it. Once I finish building the squirrel barriers I will try again, before Oct. 15th :) And yay, the collards will continue to grow! Glad I found this channel - thank you
I put garden wire around my vegetables in the spring to keep rabbits and squirrels out of them. For my Fall planting, my husband has built me a raised (waist-high) garden bed. Worked out well this summer with different flowers. Guess I need Fall flowers now!
I'm in zone 8a SC and my garlic has only been taking 7 months from planting to harvest. I plant it the end of November and harvest in June. Sometimes, when I plant it, it is after the first frost but the ground is still warm. They still do well.
Thank you 😊, very clear, detailed information. We are in zone 8B. Looking forward to trying the new vegitable you suggested. I have been growing Russian Garlic with great success. Great video! Thanks again 👏👏👏👏👏
I planted peas, today, this should give them enough time to grow pretty good before our first frost. I Added some Epson salts and bone meal to the pots I planted the peas in. Tomorrow, I will finish tilling my garden with my Mantis. I will turn in some lime, 10-10-10 and some bone meal into the garden. I will plant primarily spinach, cabbage and lettuce in my garden. They should do well this winter. I am not a kale person. I got some turnip and mustard seeds for my daughters garden. I am not a turnip or mustard person, too. I also bought her a new easy start Mantis for her birthday. Mine is a 13 year old Mantis that I restored. Both are two cycle versions. I do not support battery driven equipment, at all.

So funny I came here to say exactly the same thing as the commenter below. Right now means nothing unless you say what date and preferably what zone. Thank you for your Instructional videos and yet I don't know what right now means.
I loooove collard greens! I have to see if they'll do well here. I didn't know swiss chard was a perennial, we have a few plants in the ground still that has survived all the heatwaves. We haven't started our fall planting quite yet (we're so behind XD our chickens are starting to lay!) but we'll probably take advantage of the cooler weather to get some planting done. Take care, hope your garden does well!!
HI THERE! zone 8a here! thanks for the vid. I heard you say epsom salt for this area. Im assuming because this area has alot of clay interference in soil? :] we bought our first house so im about to transform our new backyard into a food forest hehe
I will surely try the soup. Sounds great. The company I buy the seeds from (one of the largest organic seeds companies www.rareseeds.com) labels it as a cabbage. It surely looks like a kale. Same vegetable family though.
Did you say the name of the garlic you planted? If you did I missed it. Glad you said kale is a two year plant. You would not believe how many people pull them up before they are done.
True story my first time planting I was so excited and went to Home Depot bought a bunch of starter veggies and planted them. I got carrots that were the craziest and saddest things I have ever seen and all the rest were mislabeled and I ended up with a ton of cucumbers 🤦♀️ Haven't tried since but after seeing your tips I may try!
Great video! Thanks for all the information. I'd like to know where you are getting these specific dates for the plants you mentioned in the video. I've found several planting calendars online, but I've found they often disagree with one another, or are primarily geared towards spring and don't have planting times for the fall. Thanks and have a great day!
You're welcome. As for the dates, I did look at many charts but the one I found most helpful was from Texas A&M. Sometimes you have to feel things out as well. I am behind in planting this year but I am not worried about it because it is still 90F here in TX.
Looking for flowering plants. I'm in zone 8. I live in an and need flowers lol. I have a jasmine that needs transplanted into the ground. It survived spring and summer in a pot. It's beautiful. Should I wait til next spring to transplant? What flowers can I do now that will be permanent
This year is a weird year..its looking like october...usually very wet and cool will be hot and dry all month...which means i wont get any BROCCOLI and hardly any cauliflower...errrrrr.
What the difference between 8a and 8b? I’m up near Oklahoma border and I’m now 8a. We go from extreme heat 112° to cold fast. We only seam to have a three to four week window of cool before frost.
Very helpful, thank you!! I'm going 2b new to doing a veggie garden so I have a further question. I see you planted in the ground but would you be able 2 plant in containers in fall & it still work?? Thanks for your help!! Take care and God Bless!! ♥️✝️✝️✝️♥️

All are doing well accept the peaches. They died. This area of Texas has a serious problem with several peach tree diseases. It wipes out most peaches in this area regardless of variety.

I have also used tomato leaf tea to spray my brassicas to keep pests off. The only problem is you need to spray every 3 days. I've chosen to make a low tunnel using bug netting and as long as you protect the seedlings from pests laying eggs before planting and keep the netting at least 3 inches from the nearest leaf then your brassicas should remain pest free without sprays. The slugs can still get at them.

Nero di toscsna or cavolo nero or Tuscan kale is all kale, famous in Tuscany. Try their Ribollita soup that made this plant famous: omg!

Territorial seeds are so expensive. I only purchase from them when I can't get it else where.
You should only have to purchase seeds once or twice. Get in the habit of saving seeds and it will cut your costs.

Hello. It's the date that I published the video. Late Sept.
What do you to keep slugs and snails away.
I dust everything with diatomaceous earth.

How did the Southern exc seed do?
Really well. I like them. Good germination.
What are the top 3 or 4 hearty and very nutritional plants for fall gardening?
For which zone? Mine, 8b? Collards, Carrots, Beans, Winter Squash (Butternut)
@@CountryLivingExperience , I believe zone 7 or 8 near Arlington.
I recommend the same as I mentioned above.
How to do deal with aphids and cabbage worms with the cole crops?
I use a mixture of neem oil and soap. We did a video on that when aphids were attacking our kale two years ago. Check out our video archives.
I have also used tomato leaf tea to spray my brassicas to keep pests off. The only problem is you need to spray every 3 days. How deep does the soil need to be for carrots?
Depends on the carrot variety. 8" is usually fine.
Thanks! I’m in 8B almost 9a on the Mississippi Coast. So excited to start my first fall garden!
Are your dates listed for ground planting of seedlings or direct sowing of seeds?
Direct sowing
What about mustard plants
Yes. Good time for those as well
What if you're on the border of zone 7-8? I'm in Central NC and right on the border, not sure what I can plant.
Your local university should have an extension office for agriculture. They should have a planting schedule for your area posted online.
How do you handle slugs in the garden.
I have heard putting down a board on the ground in the bed. They hide under it because it is moist.
Would you mention the time zone! Right now means what month?
Central time zone. Right now means the date I published the video....mid-September.
When is the best time to plant Kale?
Starting right now if you live in zone 8b in the South. You can extend that to through the next few weeks.
I am in Zone 8.5. Can I still plant what you are suggesting?
It is a bit late but you may still get some to germinate. We have had warm temps here in TX but it is now cooling off.
where and when??????????????????
