- Another MGB GT 'In Detail' video this time having a look at the interior of the MGB and describing some of the quirks and features. There were numerous changes over the years so I'm interested to hear what differences there are between mine and later models so let me know in the comments!
I’m 6’4” and the MGB is the only classic British car I’m comfortable getting in and out of. And definitely driving is a pleasure. Thx for the video

Healey 3000 suitable for big boys as well.
Another place to check is the bonnet vent inlet lower rainwater outlet known as 'toms knob' it eventually goes hard and is bst checked by inserting a screwdriver up outlet twisting around generally allows road dust to fall out pour water into the vent to check its all good great video regards fom New Zealand

The chromed coil spring rear hatch stays of the GT in my opinion are such beautiful items. Always look at them whenever I spot a GT

A great video, thanks. I’ve only driven my GT for about 5 minutes when I bought it as it was off the road legally. Been restoring since, so still another year or so, but good to learn where everything is and what it’s supposed to do. I love the red you have there so very tempted when it comes to choosing my interior as at present it a very worn sandy brown. Cheers, look forward to more videos.

Legend has it the little front quarter windows were to the ash when flicking it from coming back into the car when smoking whilst driving

Love your vidéos. You’ ve made the perfect choice of Colors with this beautiful old English white and this dark red interior. To reset your Trip odometer , you should try to push and turn the knob in reverse. Never drove any MGB , but my 74 Citroën DS Ivoire Borely works this way. Hi from France.

Hi Mark. Enjoyed this one a lot. I am only lightly acquainted with the MGB. Nothing says Bond more than Dymo tape!. Seriously the MGB interior does look like a slightly smaller DB4. If you put a Aluminium mesh speaker grill in front of your tablet then you would have the full Sean Connery in gold finger package. Don't know if you guessed but i really like Bond too😁. Congratulations on broaching the 1000 subscriber milestone👍

Hi John, thanks for the comment! I had thought about some sort of mesh for a stealthier look but couldn’t make it work nicely😔 I’d love a DB4, prefer them over the DB5 in fact but neither are within reach these days! Yes I’m so pleased with how many people are watching these videos, legitimises my hobby somewhat and in fact I have a new project arriving soon and given our shared interest should be something you’ll like 😉

I love your enthusiasm. Just a thought: Are you worried about the rusty bits at the bottom of the left A-pillar? There are some more brown bits peeking out under the headlining. Have you checked the notorious corners of the chassis to be OK rust-wise? Otherwise, I love what I am seeing. Keep your highly entertaining videos coming!
Hi, not worried about the brown marks in those areas too much, I redid the interior a couple of years ago and I think the a pillar discolouration and the brown around the headlining comes from old glue that has changed colour, I didn’t replace the material on the ‘rails’ around the headliner so they’re original and the a pillar trim doesn’t fit perfectly so reveals a bit of stuff that is normally hidden, I’ll double check the a pillar though as I could be mistaken! The car is generally solid with quite a lot of bodywork being done a few years ago but does need tidying in places!

I'm looking at getting an mgb gt. Do you think theres enough room for 2 kids under 7 in the back? Just to go drive around our neighborhood? Obviously these cars aren't really safe enough for them to go on full blown rides. But can a 10 year old ride back there say? Love your videos and your car!

Yes I think a 7 year old would just about fit, my 5 and 7 year old both love climbing in the back of the MG but like you say I wouldn’t want to actually go anywhere with them in the back due to the safety aspect. My kids seem to prefer sitting in it stationary on the driveway pretending they are driving and pressing the switches/buttons 🤣
@@granblogismo My kids are the same way lol. I have a few classic bikes and I usually leave them on the center stand so they can climb on them, but I'm thinking they'd enjoy a car even more. Thanks!
1/4 lights are there cos the window will not go past the door opening mechanism,.. i prefer 1/4 lights for demisting the wind screen, disadvantage is theft, open the 1/4 window from the outside and operate the door opening lever.
Aha! Good to know, yeah I like them for ventilation like you mention, luckily I don’t keep anything in the car worth stealing! I guess the car itself could get stolen but if people were determined enough the quarter light probably one of several ways of breaking in!
Greetings from Cologne, Germany. I really love your steering wheel. I still have the original one in my 1974 GT, but consider switching it to a smaller one since my long legs barely fit underneath. By the way: I consider having Isofix-holders for my kids' seats fixed to the rearbench - did you ever think about it?
I notice you have what looks like a Webasto sun roof. Any plans to renew the head lining for it? I want to mine in a 72 MGB and I'm looking for guidance etc. Thanks.

Hi, it’s a ‘mountney’ wheel with hub that I bought from the MGOC but I think you can buy direct from them, Mota Lita are probably a bit nicer but this was about half the price!
Good video where is your fuel pump ,just bought a 75 RB gt and it’s in the boot and looks a bit exposed , is this unusual?
Hi Philip, apologies for the delayed reply, I just checked mine and the wiring for the pump is in the boot but the pump itself is outside, however, I *think* on the later ones at least some of the pump ( the terminals for the electrical connection ) might possibly be accessible from the boot 🤷🏻♂️

Indeed! But mine still doesn’t work, think the mechanism inside is worn as it feels like it skips over some gears when I push/twist
I think you ought to cut those bolts at the other side of your steering wheel..You could catch /cut your hand on them ,,but mainly they just look naff....Looks a right bodge,,, apart from that really nice old car....
Ha, you’re not the first person to comment on that! Yes the original boss bolts didn’t fit so had to use some spare ones that have stayed, by the time the lockdown ends they will be gone I promise! 🤣

Yep it’s a Mountney I think, can’t remember the size but it’s a fair bit cheaper than the equivalent Mota-Lita and boss
Again another good video especially for other MGB GT owner to compare.👍 Since my car has been upgraded to a Ford T9 gearbox the tunnel between the seats looks quite different. BTW - heaters were optional equipment back in 1967 at least for the roadster. I have a copy of an old broschure which you can also find here: mgb1967.comx/mg-mgb-roadster-brochure-from-1966/
Some people told me that cars for switzerland had uprated heaters but I cannot find any prove for this. However Brown & Gammons as well as Moss have upgraded heaters which are really recommendable
There are two more lids vents worth mentioning inside. You showed the fresh air vents - but there are hot air lid on both sides - left and right - behind the fresh air one (they are closed on your video). An earlier owner sealed them in my car (which came from Carlifornia) - not good when driving on cold days.
Hi Tim, thanks for the comment and link to that brochure 👍 I definitely need an upgraded heater! You’re right about the hot air vents, operated by the dial on the dash I think although I seem to get more heat from the gearbox tunnel than those vents 🤣
@@granblogismo I recently installed a mix of Dynapad and Noico. In my opinion both products work well- Noico is just a lot cheaper. My gearbox tunnel is insulated from beneath (done by Frontline Developments). Really recommendable

Show 'em the battery - er, batteries - mate. There are two of them underneath the back jump seat. Yeppers! Two six volt batteries on series to make a 12 volt system. Also, in typical English engineering fashion, the electrical system is POSITIVE EARTH! That's right - bass ackward from the conventional. Also, get used to removing the batteries and bringing them indoors on days when the temp goes below 32° F and you park the car outside. Otherwise, you will never be able to start it up in the morning!
