      Why would they need to get out of the truck? The water is on board so no need to connect pipes, the hoses are too powerfull to be handled by people, they are more protected in the truck, they dont have time to do anything else, they are in open field, so they can park anywhere they want. They dont need to bring hoses around corners or in buildings.

      Would be cool but impractical. It’s almost impossible to put out full fledged forest fires. If this truck can dump it’s entire reservoir in less than 2m then it’s useless.

      Andy R Aircraft fires, if they are on the field, are in a wide open space and for the most time on the exterior of the aircraft. Structural firefighting happens inside of buildings, so we have to go inside and find victims and the source of the fire and knock it done. Andy R thats why the hoses on “ordinary” fire engines are preconnected. these Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting, or ARFF, rigs are purpose-built for airports. they would not be effective at all on most structure or vehicle fires due to the fact that mobility is very limited in tight spaces like crowded freeways and narrow streets and alleys. these ARFF rigs are built for large open spaces like airports

      Vito Amos as far as heat detection goes, only FLIR enabled cameras all around the rig, sadly no automation on the water nozzles.

    Interesting to see how visually (and seemingly functionally) similar these are to Oshkosh Corp's ARFF Striker trucks.

    • @wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20
      @wopmf4345FxFDxdGaa20 4 роки тому +1

      The functionality probably mostly comes from the standards for aviation fire fighting vehicles. Rosenbauer has been building fire truck with this visual style from around 2005, so it's not exactly a new design and relatively similar style already before that since early 90's.

      If it isn't the passengers are cripsy fried. 90 seconds is all you got. The other primary is to keep flames and heat off the fuselage. thats why the jets are so powerful, .
