I just did silver without bleaching on my hair. It basically looks like a cool brown. I thought it would stand out more because I have a lot of whites but it is pretty and natural.
Id love for you to do red in the same way, as someone with almost black hair id be super ok with a black cherry look, like only picking up the red in the sun

It depends on the colour you're looking for. I want a medium-dark red and my natural hair is darker than those strands, so my hairdresser lifts it just a little bit so my hair is a medium brown, then she puts the red. I have a small section however which I colour with vivids. Because that section I generally have neon, it means I have to lighten it as much as possible.
I used to put kind of a middle range blue on my light brown hair w/o lightening and my hair would be dark navy blue which would fade to gun metal grey.

Recommend using the purple shampoo instead of dying as it's less harmful and way more effective, you don't need the most expensive one either.

Manic Panic, Punky, XMondo, Arctic Fox or any other semi/demi color deposit color with no lift or developer.
I have very dark brown hair and red shows up pretty well
Not fire engine red but it's beautiful and noticeable in my hair
I did it and its great pretty intense in the beginning but IT will fade quick into reddish Version of ur Natural hair

Oh yeah I don't bleach my hair but red creates a very dark Auburnish feel I only use conditioner

Shampooing with Shimmering Lights is a great idea for any color treatment when trying to reduce a green undertone.
