I learned this just by watching the trpattern videos and it turned out beautifully. I transferred everything to the fabric using the notches and now that you've posted this video it all makes sense to me now, and I can now do it correctly 😊. Thank you so much!! A two thumbs up for Mr Sato for allowing you to video the whole thing. 😊😊

Very fine but difficult. I think i got some sewing parts from this Essex underful lane. I have seen this before and have seen this man in his shop. This video was made long time. Thanks for sharing how i wish i could make. In this bodies is there any stitches or not? Is it held by gum alone?
I really want to do this but I have a question!? The starting bodice pattern only shows two bust to waist darts but the most common bodice patterns that I’ve seen also have bust to arm darts - what do I do with these? Many thanks!!
Well......either close the bust darts and absorb the space into the waist to bust darts or.....make sure the style lines of the pleats touch both points *can be on separate lines. Tree
I'M VIETNAMESE, OH, YOU FEEL YOU HAVE TO ME 1 GOOD DESIGN LESONS , I LOOK FORWARD TO YOU SHARING ABOUT THIS FASHION DESIGN MORE SO I HAVE THE OPPORTUNITY TO LEARN MOẺ . THANK YOU VERY
+Amarjeet Simar It is isn't it!! I've got 3 more of these for you to watch. Click on image at the end of the film. Also, just completed a one to one with him doing his new style of Moulage. Will be uploading that too soon. Tree
+Suramichael Brown it was added in the original pattern and tgen tge pleat pieces are just the pleat pieces. But watch tge beginning again because you will see that he adds a small seam allowance at the base of the pleat being formed so you have something to grab when stitching pleats together. Good luck and feel free to ask more questions. Tree x
are you talking about the 3cm at the end of the triangle? i did that. but thrn i also added 1 cm to the outside all sides of the bodice in correct form. for the neck, arm hole, sides, etc... i didnt see him do that part.
This is such a great video thank you so much, I've drafted a pattern but now I'm not sure how to sew it can I find more of an explanation or would you be able to explain more? Thanks!
Just watch back the last part where it is explained how to sew (although not in as much detail) I will do a tutorial on soon and I will show it's application in the real world for a real garment. Tree x
+Paris Parchment Hello Paris, no not at all. You are just relocating and relocating the bust darts again and again so don't loose any of the original size. Tree x

And how about the measurements if the person you are sewing for its a plus size, or does it mean you will have different sizes of the body statue. You are just amazing. How I wish I'm closer to you I will pay whatever it cost to become an expert like you. You sure really know your onion. And secondly how do I get the statue. I live in malaga spain, I have just a little knowledge of sewing with 3months training in Nigeria.
+Evarossy Okah How funny.....I wish you were closer to me so you could pay me whatever!!! You don't need to but if you want it to fit you, then you need your dressmaker's dummy to be your size. You can pad it out. Doing this technique on an A Line shirt dress looks good too. I will do a demo soon on my channel (for free) Tree X
Tree, this is so great, thanks so much for posting this its just brilliant, i'm a fan of Shingo Sato, and ive watch many of his videos, but some of them are not as clear as this one was, this is definatley achievable, I just want to know, what measurement are the waist darts? as usually a dart only has to be 1.05cm or no more than 2cm or 2.05cm maximum width, but here in the video it looks much wider than 1.05cm, I don't hear him say it in the video. please can you tell me as I want to make this, please. thank you Laura in Liverpool fashion student.
+Laura Aqui Hello Laura, that's such a complement......clearer than the master!! As for the size of the dart waist dart, it doesn't seem to matter. Some have done this technique on tops and dresses that are not fitted at all. I have still 1 more of these films to upload. Tree x
Tree thanks for responding to my enquirey, i feel really inspired, by this video, of shingo sato doing the origami bamboo bodice, in the past i wouldn't attempt this, as i felt it maybe too complicated for me as ive only ever done one level of pattern cutting before, and so im just at novice level, and this style of pattern cutting, dose require some knowlege, to understand the implications of increasing dart volume, and how this can change and effect your pattern adaptions, i did finally overcome my lack of confidence, and i just had a go, i really enjoyed doing this pattern, it just showed me what i could be capable of, if i just do it. my very first attempt, has not been a 100percent sucessful, one of my waist darts was a touch too high, and the fold was not smooth, in that area on the left side, also i cut along the style lines going in to the arm hole too far along that line, the other lines worked out really well, and you can clearly see, the origional, folding pattern, also i pinned the paper pattern and folded in fabric on to my dress form after i had completed this part, just to see how it looked, i had not considered, that folding the paper pattern and fabric inward towards the center would shorten the side seams, as my basic bodice block side seam was only 1.05cm after i had pinned it to the dress form on compleation, it had decreased and shortened the side seam alot, so i had learned alot from doing this pattern, and i enjoyed it. i had already decided to remake this pattern a further two times, so i can re-adjust this areas all i needed to do was add more seam allowence on the side seams and lower the waist darts and not cut in to the style line cut so far in front of the arm holes and this should turn out to be great the second time around. i would like to let you know, im really greatful to you for posting this lovey and brilliant video of the origami bamboo bodice, as it has given, great confidence, to begin, doing the other origami patterns, here on youtube, im also currently in the progress of doing another origami design called spiders web also by shingo sato, im following a video, posted by one of his students called Arif Khan called origami techniques. so far ive compleated the paper pattern of the spiders web design for a bodice, i will be cutting it out soon . Thank you tree for giving me inspiration, and the courage to begin, just doing it. your follower Laura in Liverpool, Fashion design, student.
+River Friedman Well yes and no......because the point is that you watch this video and make the pattern based on your size and bodice block. It's not that complicated...you shoe have a go, it's good fun. Try it on a simple shift dress shape to start with. Tree X
I see what is there now the people there, can see the exact thing spaces left and the cut aways, before we get to the point window closes and open when he is folding.
+WILD CHILD Hello, just keep watching it when you get time. It is important to start with a bodice block with just 2 bust to waist darts. When you 1st draw your style lines your 1st 2 lines must touch the bust point of the bust dart. Feel free to ask me... Tree X
