A burglar that sits around waiting, especially when there's a shitload of smoke-like fog that neighbors can detect, is a complete moron that will get caught. If your burgling of a place takes more than 10 minutes under normal conditions then you're doing it wrong.
I already commented a long time ago on Facebook regarding this. If someone has a gun this is a terrible idea. A trapped, scared person with a gun is a recipe for them to start shooting at anything and anyone.
If they have a gun, you have to already assume they are going to use it regardless. Therefore, it is much better to ensure they cannot aim at what they want to shoot at and many opportunists would choose instead to flee before they can no longer see the exit. The fog is utilised mostly at night to prevent burglaries than armed robberies anyway.
you dd be surprised how resilient humans are to bullets and stabs, it only needs to miss the vital organs and you dd survive, since they can't aim its unlikely they ll hit you in the first place
