When the moment came, I was very underwhelmed and unsatisfied, but I couldn't put into words the sensation (or the lack of) of what I felt. A few days have passed and a friend then asked me what it tasted like and was it amazing as it was advertised. I couldn't explain further besides the obvious notion that it's "bacon and cheese sandwiched between two KFC chicken thighs". "It was good but it wasn't at the same time." Then another friend, who was just sitting down minding his own business as he wasn't part of the conversation, interjected and said: "After you've had one, you won't want another one" and silently went back to reading. My jaw dropped. I was speechless because that's exactly how I felt but could not find the words to save me. I just find it hilarious that my friend who gave the best observation, was probably as exhilarated and anguished as I was. And to hear his disappointment in his completely random interjection and immediately get back to reading his book was just the cherry on top; like talking about your favorite sports team playing like crap the whole season but can't help but cheer them on despite the lack of wins. Ahh good times.
Thank you so much for this. KFC chicken is my favorite fast food indulgence, but just learned recently it has dairy in it, and I'm severely allergic to lactose. So I will follow this way of cooking but just make it with vegan buttermilk. Also, you showed me how it's possible to fry and cook it without the fancy KFC equipment like special high temp baking oven

The process of making h&s chicken at an actual KFC goes as follows: 1. Marinate the chicken and then let the marinade soak in for at least 2 hours (i do not know the ingredients) 2. Place the chicken in a tub of flour and breading. 3. Dip and roll it around in the flour for a bit that quickly dump in a bowl of water and then put the chicken back into the flour/breading and make sure it's covered. 4. Shake the chicken or shake it in a strainer to get rid of excess flour (this is actually important) 5. Fry it, different chicken types fry for different times at KFC, but everything fries at around 360 F° and 5 minutes should generally get you there.
