Thanks a million man. Saved me a good chunk of change.
Thanks so much everyone wants $2000+ to replace front and back on my 2016 LTZ, Seems like this is easily a job I can do myself.
Getting ready to do mines today. Same car. $2000 is crazy. Place I go to said 380 just for the rear. Still gonna do it myself tho
@@ChrisJohnsoniShootnRaw yea after looking into it further strut replacement is a huge scam most cars will get well beyond 50k miles out of their struts and shocks. As long as they are not leaking, and you have no shudder at higher speeds, and they handle speed bumps ok your struts should be fine.
@@atbass41 that’s why I don’t go to shops if I can do it myself. The shop I go to is probably one of the last honest shops around the price he gave me was good. My car is well over 50k, I’m around 82k so I replaced the rear shocks and struts. Guy at shop said my rear shocks was leaking. Decided to just replace front and back. I was getting that shudder at high speeds and was damn near bottom out going down extremity shitty roads.
Is a wheel alignment necessary afterwards?
@@kpmarez I would just to save you tire wear if nothing else.
I've got a 2015 Impala LTZ with 124,000 miles on it. Needs Struts front and back I believe. Great video! Thank you much!
Nice presentation, to the point, and done; I like it. I’m bout to replace mine soon and this video was super helpful, thanks.
Thank you, I appreciate the support and feedback!
Thank you. Just got an estimate of $1,100 to change my struts on a 2018 Impala.
Can definitely save some cash!! If you need the new ones pressed just take them to any garage, the rest is easy.
Thanks@@rednecktech82
Thank you, excellent video. God bless.
Thanks bro 💯💯💯
I usually take that link arm off with pressure applied so I don't have to use the T-40
thanks for the vid man. appreciate what you do.
Do you have to do a wheel alignment after you do that
Great job!
Thank you I appreciate the support!
Torque spec for strut shaft to mount nut?
Thank you for the video! Quick question, how did you detemine that the struts needed replaced? I'm starting to think that mine need replaced as I'm hearing a fast metal on metal sound whenever I go over decent bumps on my way home.
People usually notice a difference in ride or you may hear them bottom out on bumps etc...and if they're really shot and you're strong enough you can push on the front end and bounce the car.
Thanks
got a price yesterday at pep-boys to replace shocks and struts on my 2015 impala $1800 i could not believe it.
That's why I do this channel, to honestly help people save themselves some money. I was a long time youtube taker, now I get to be a giver lol.
Yessir nice video man
FYI. On 2018 Malibu the springs are made so that common spring compressors will NOT work on them. Took to local shop with a wall mount compressor and even they could not compress it. Had to take to dealer to have done. Cost $217. Ruined spring using normal compressor.
My local shop did it for $25 with a wall mount compressor.
thanks good info.
i replaced all my shock/struts on my 2104 impala lt 2lt but i have bad ride quality..something is banging when i hit bumps
How's the steering? Bad ball joint or anything else along those lines? Aside from ride quality is the noise something in the trunk bouncing around...I wouldn't mention it if it hasn't happened 😏
@@rednecktech82 steering is very tight, car has 77k on it,i have a lift and i dont see anything bad,,got to look at sway bar mounts,it seems to be coming from the front..but check the spare tire..i put the tires at 35,seems kinda high..
@@rednecktech82 I took the sway bar links out and its much better.
I swap the front struts but it does have a gap on the top bolt and cover and I can’t find the way to fix it
Question, dont you need to get a wheel alignment after replacing the front struts on that vehicle?
No.
Very useful ! Thank. How to write you directly to get parts?
i think after they are replaced it has to be aligned will i be able to drive 30 miles to a shop? or will it be so out aligned so bad that i cant drive?
No alignment req'd from just a strut replacement.
thanks

one more question what is the verry best name brand shocks ?
That's a loaded question, ask 100 people you'lll get 100 different answers. But for my trucks I like Bilstein.
Which spring compressor style did you try to use that didn't work with the tapered springs these newer impalas have? About to tackle this project but may invest in a free standing compressor instesd of widow maker sticks.
Standard suicide sticks, you'd have to have a standing style compressor...or local shop should only charge about $20 each.
do you need the impact wrench? only thing i dont have
No it's not absolutely necessary but it definitely makes life a lot easier.
How did you tighten down the top bolt? Impact? Thanks
I believe so yes.
What did you use besides a 24 mm to take off the top nut?
All the tools needed are listed in the vid description.
$125 for the whole assembly please send me the site to buy this
Where did you put the Jack stands under?
I apoligize, I make it a point to show that in my newer vids. It's been so long I can't remember but typically under the control arm front or back. The owners manual should tell you.
@@rednecktech82 thank you, I have the impala and when I look under it’s weird. Being unibody and all. The pinch welds are like 6” and don’t go down along the body of the car like other models. Gonna do a full brake job in a month so I want to safely keep the car up. Cheers.
More light.
I had to leave it took to long to get started
Does it matter the type?
No not at all.
That bar as u called it....its proper name is called the swaybar link😂😂😂😂newbie
You're a genius!! and yet here you are watching my video!? 🤣🤣🤣
