I ended up using electrical tape in the inside, but your solution is more elegant (and does not void warranty!). Question, does it still have light bleed with your approach? This was the reason I had to try different methods, to completely eliminate any light bleed at all.

The only light bleed is the extremely minor one from the d-pad area, you honestly can't notice it
