    Dr. John Stevenson-thank you so much for your concise presentation and historical background from the intertestimental period to the N.T. I learned a lot from this presentation and piqued my interest in Jewish history.

      +bukton10 My brotha, the entire new testament is false. It was put together by Europeans such as this guy speaking the video to lead the TRUE children of Israel astray. All of the children of the 1619 slave trade are the real Jews of the bible. My ancestors never prayed to Jesus. He is a false prophet and did not die for anybody's sins.
      The fathers shall not be put to death for the children, neither shall the children be put to death for the fathers: every man shall be put to death for his own sin. - Deuteronomy 24:16
      The soul that sinneth, it shall die. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him. - Ezekiel 18:20
      Read the book of remembrance(old testament) if you want to receive the WORD of God. Not once do you ever read THUS SAYS THE LORD in the new testament.

      Someone has been feeding you bad information. And as to the claim that the New Testament never says, "Thus says the Lord," Revelation 1:8 says -- "I am the Alpha and the Omega," SAYS THE LORD GOD, "who is and who was and who is to come, the Almighty."

      Sadducee's adherents controlled the Temple and the Sanhedrin at the time of Christ. You don't hear much about Sadducee's anymore as sadly, they were predominantly wealthy or powerful people and were lost when Rome destroyed Judea and Jerusalem around 70 BC. So sad.

Overall though, I think that it was a very good video and wouldn’t have minded if it went into even more depth. Thanks again Dr. Stevenson. God bless you!

    Yes, thankful for all the pictures to make this easier to understand. Learning a lot and very grateful. But question is, did man (Constantine) change the Sabbath to Sunday away from the biblical Sabbath?

    • @DrJohnStevenson
      @DrJohnStevenson  9 років тому +3

      +Maryann Lee We learn from the writings of the Apostolic Fathers, the Didache, and even from the New Testament itself that it was the normal practice of Christians to meet together for worship on the first day of the week. This took place long before Constantine. They did not necessarily see this as "changing the Sabbath," but rather, it seems to have been as a regular memorial of the resurrection.

    • @leemary4833
      @leemary4833 9 років тому

      Thank you Dr Stevenson. Struggling because Exodus 20:10 Sabbath is the 7th day. NT Paul, Jesus, His disciples had kept the 7th day Sabbath going to the synagogue then. The 10 commandment never changes or is deleted because we do not steal, murder even today. Enjoy all your programs. Thank you for helping us learn and grow.

      @Maryann Lee, I don't know if you saw it, but Dr. Stevenson said that in the NT and in the Apostolic Fathers, and the Didache, we see that the early church met on the first day of the week. That didn't change that Sabbath; presumably Jewish believers still kept that. Acts 15 addresses whether the new gentile believers had to keep the law of Moses.

    One error..the original Septuagint rabbis translated into koine greek were the Torah being Genesis to Deuteronomy...not the entire Hebrew Tanakh. Oregin used hexapla to re write Christian version calling it "old testament "using Greek,Aramaic and Hebrew into latin which is very much different than original Hebrew Tanakh.שלום

      There was a complete Greek old Testament by 130bc at the latest. It was used all over the region, including in Judea, and even in many synagogues. In addition, In most cases where there are variants or disagreements between the DSS Manuscripts and the Hebrew Masoretic, The DSS does agree with the Septuagint.

    I think Alexander was angry at his soldiers for mutiny and perhaps his generals as well. Maybe they had a hand in it. Alexander certainly favored neither. Lots in soldiers died on the March back to Persia and which of his generals did he anoint to follow him?

    NIV bible shows roman additions by church fathers to koine Greek...like 1john5:7-8...they modified the koinr Greek and Hebrew scriptures...even Martin Luther and Erasmus knew this.

    • @DrJohnStevenson
      @DrJohnStevenson  7 років тому +3

      ! John 5:7 was not added by the church fathers; it was added by the Roman Catholic Church in Erasmus' day a good 1500 years after the church fathers. On the other hand, the Latin version was in the Vulgate a very long time earlier, so it might have been someone's commentary on the text that was inadvertently added to the codex.
      Perhaps one of these days I will do a short series on textual criticism.

      David Ross...., I believe you're referring to to title, yes?
      You are incorrect in your above statement, because you miswrote.
      You meant to say that "Malachi" is not from the New Testament. Because "Matthew" (which you also misspelled, btw), is indeed the first book of the Bible.
