- An introduction to the series "Unlocking the Old Testament"
The Old Testament is actually a library of 39 books written over a period of 1000 years with most of it covering 2000 years of history before Christ. David Pawson shows how they fit together. With teaching on any one topic scattered all over the Bible, every text is in the context of the book, and every book is in the context of history. God speaks into particular situations, so the time and place give the text its meaning. It features the struggle between the two world powers in the ancient Middle East. The first 5 books are on God’s law and are the most important books in the Old Testament as they are the foundation of the Bible and help us to understand the rest of it. Next are the prophets - prophetic history through which God speaks to us today. Prophetic history is different from other history. All history books are based on 2 principles, selection and connection. When writing a history book, writers first select what to put in and what to leave out. They then show the connection between these events, i.e. what led to what. Prophetic history however, selects only what is important to God. Lastly are the writings, which are stories, poetry and songs.

I was a firm atheist until my mid-twenties when I saw the videos of this amazing man and read the bible from cover to cover.
And what a sign that this wonderful man left us on Ascension Day.
I always hoped I could meet David in my lifetime, but I never got the chance. But I truly hope we'll meet one day. Thank you for everything, Mr. Pawson, I owe you more than I can repay. Amen.

David Pawson and his teachings have been such a blessing to me. His kind, thorough teachings rebuilt my Biblical foundation. I had a group of women that got together and would watch each video then read the correlating book of the Bible during the week after our meeting. @@mitchellc4 you don't have to proclaim anything to own it. That's not how God works. Prophesies of Jesus extended from Genesis. His arrival was well prophesied by Prophet Isaiah 9:6-7. Isaiah also talked about His mission. By Jesus identifying Himself as Messiah was enough for the Jews to know who He was.
His body was created by spirit and whatever He did were directed by the Spirit of God (5:30).
Yes, Jesus was born, grew, was crucified and died. God the Father is Everlasting, omnipotent, omniscient, etc
The body or person (named Jesus by angel Gabriel) was a cask thst hosted the spirit of God the Father with linage from king David as promised in the Old Testament.
When Jesus died, it was the body that died, not the 'SPIRIT'.
The same SPIRIT (of God) brought Him back to life and transformed Him into a glorious being with full authority (math 28:18-20). This is the Jesus we worship (Jesus-through whom God the Father is manifested).
Jesus, the name above all names, and at His feet (whether you or anyone else like it or not) every knee will bow in heaven, on earth and under the sea and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord to the glory of God the Father (Phil. 2:10-11).
That is the Lamb' of God who appeared to John in Revelation 1:12-18.
Learn to respect and love Him before it's too late. He is coming back soon.

It's been a blessing hearing God's word through His servant. As a youth minister working across London, I decided to promote reading the entire Bible in 2022. This teaching helps me a lot to pass it on to the younger generation.

I have never heard of David Pawson till 2 days ago, but I had searched for Leviticus and got the video. Outstanding! This man was a servant of God and he is so educated and has such a nobility and dignified tone and appearance. Definitely hooked!
His Bible teachings are such a treasure...do you know they have a website which has got audio sermons that he preached b4 the advent of video, in the 60s, 70s and 80s...they are not on UA-cam...check them out if you haven't already.

Pure wisdom is speaking. He makes the OT and the whole bible sound so "sweet." I have also his book "Unlocking the Bible" and it seems to me that there is not one word too much or too less. Definitely one of my favorite bible teachers.

This is such an excellent and detailed way of explaining the old testament. A lot of confusion is brought in the old testament because of all the history, the years, the wars, and the people. There were so many people and a lot of empires. A lot of youth like me always get confused bc of this. This was such an excellent and detailed map. Covered everything. Made so much sense. I've been a Christian (properly ) for years but I've never come across such a detailed way of explanation.
David Pawson has been blessed by God with "Simplicity" in his teaching. Both children and adults are amazed at the way he can open up the Word of God. He has left behind a powerful and worthwhile legacy.
I love learning stuff I never knew I needed to learn. So valuable!

David committed his whole life to studying the scriptures and reading more than 3500 books, that's how many were left in his library and he had given many away
The pat the Lord played in making this happen was to give him an incredible memory - he never forgot what he read ...but he had to read it first

Brother David went home to be with the Lord a few days ago. He was the best teacher of the last half century. This presentation is brilliant, concise, and understandable.
