This Jaunpuri was recorded by AIR ,Calcutta on 31.03.1965 as a Surshringar recital and also broadcast later and recorded by me from the radio personally. The date was mentioned by the announcer.

Is this sound really sound of Surshringar? Surely it is different from that of Sarod. But This sound doesn't have bigger sound-scape of Sushringa. Then, I suspect that this is a sound of Mohan Veena (it was invented by Radhika Mohan Maitra. And it looks similar with Sarod, but it has Sitar or Been-like bridge). As for Mohan veena, you can find it which is played by Bhabanishankar Dasgupta. He is a sonf of Buddhadev Dasgupta. And Buddhadev Dasgupta is a dicsiple of Radhika Mohan Moitra. ua-cam.com/video/FqMTd-NnamU/v-deo.html

I'm a student of Pt Buddhadev Dasgupta myself. This recording sounds like the Surshringar though the Mohan Veena (with tabli) can sound like this too.
There is a dispute going on which is the recording of which instrument as some suspect that the recordings aren't properly named even by HMV. This is a broadcast from Akashvani as Surshringar but I don't trust Akashvani at all. I have some recordings of Akashvani announcing Yaman as Todi and Desh as Darbari.. or Dhrupad alap as Khayal.. hilarious to the fullest.
Pt Radhika Mohan Maitra designed many different type of instruments maximum of which are based on Sarod (to see those instruments you can check my fb account) also he (experimentally) made different Sarodes with different unconventional woods.
So what is the solution.. I'll go with the instinct that Surshringar is generally tuned much lower like in G# or A. But this one is in B♭ so 1 semitone higher. Pt Maitra played Sarod mostly in C/C# so this is 2-3 notes lower but again there is high chance of scale changing while digitizing the tracks.

@@SobersChatterjee I found this explanation really helpful. I wanted to ask you, is sursringar like a sort of baritone sarod? So, does it have the same progression of foundamental strings, but 6 notes below respect sarod? I hope I expressed this curiosity correctly. Thank you.

@@alessandromuresu8464 Hello, the mother instrument was Seni Rabab (also known as Dhrupadi Rabab) from which Sursringar was born. It's very hard to bring out the meends from gut strings of Rabab so it was modified by adding a tabli and a metal plate. Later as the size enhanced, it was easier if made with a gourd..
Yes, you can call it a baritone or bass Sarod but in its heydays there were 3 different forms of tuning to play this instrument..

@@SobersChatterjee Thank you so much, very clear. I asked cause I play baritone guitar and this summer I discovered in a blaze the incredibile hindustane classical music, in particular sarod players, so I think that in the future this could be an instrument I would love to study and play. The appearence of sursringar asked me more attention on the topic, imaging the passage from guitar to baritone. Thank you again.

@@alessandromuresu8464 Yes, Sursringar is a magnificent instrument which glorifies Tansen's sons side ( Seni Rababiya gharana) but it is advisable to learn Sarode for couple of years before attempting to learn it..
      Best wishes
