This should be our anthem. And for those that disagree remember we only adopted our current anthem in 1984 so it’s not like we have a rich history with that song. This better represents Australians and has more passion than the current anthem. It could be made shorter like the ABC version. Thank you for this beautiful performance
that’s not true. it was first performed as a ‘patriotic song g’ in 1878 it replaced god save the queen under whitlam and then fraser changed back to god save the queen in 76 and we then had a plebiscite in 77 and then under hawke it became the national anthem…..

In 1977 in grade 7 we were learning the Advanced Australia fair and whinging relentlessly about it because its too hard for most people to sing.. plus most people didn't resonate with it.. we loved "I love a sunburnt country and a land of sweeping plains' as a better choice (and it was easy to sing) or Waltzing Matilda.. but we were stuck with the other horror box. This song here "we are Australian' will never be a national anthem because it celebrates Ned Kelly and the rebels along with many others.
This is so beautiful. I’m from West Papua and I have been to Australia few times and I feel Australia has been my second home. I am holding my tears particularly in the native language part.
