I installed an FMF Q4 on my DR650. I then removed the snorkel, re-adjusted the fuel/air screw, and shimmed the stock needle. In the U.S., these bikes do not come with a grooved needle and clip, so it must be shimmed. Anyway, after doing these very simple mods, the bike runs fantastic. Excellent gains in the low and mid-range, but especially in the low rpm range. Huge amount of torque, which is of course very useful for off-road and most definitely more than enough power for any situation I have encountered off-road. Other mods: Yuma rear rack, Jet bark busters, Acerbis bash plate, Dunlop D606 tires, removed upper chain roller, removed passenger pegs. Next on the list is a set of fork springs and rear spring, with corresponding heavier fork and shock oil.
Excellent job in comparing the sounds. This is how it should be done -- out in the wild and in a variety of contexts. The quick flip back and forth in the middle was a nice touch too. I don't care for the Powercore sound but I'm two thumbs way up for your production. And NO MUSIC (yay).
Great demo Matt! I know this is an older video, but I'm still hoping you will respond to my question: Where did you get that rack over your number plate? I've been searching for something just like that for my DR. I REALLY want one!
Cayoot hi cayoot. Sorry but the rack was already on the bike when I bought it in 2014. Didn’t think to ask. Same with front rack - maybe owner got them together
Hey Matt just watched your video, great looking dr and that fmf sounds amazing! You still have it now after 8-9 months? I have a 2007dr650 and i'm this close to buying that exact muffler.
+Deadarm DR. I deadarm, thanks for your comment. Yep, still have it and loving it. Haven't bothered with tweaking the carby - I like the popping so I've kept it as is. It's loud so I'm careful not to make too much noise near home or when I see a cop. Have you got your on yet?
+2phalanges. Hi, thanks for your comment. I removed the upper chain roller because I kept reading that sometimes the chain gets caught in it and rips a whole in the frame. Preventative measure to remove it before that happens. How's your power core?
my power core is pretty awesome once i put a jet kit in it. i feel the power for sure. i didnt actually take out the upper roller but i put on a new chain since. everything is great. love my dr. stay safe my friend.
These bikes have decel pop no matter what you do after a full exhaust install. Tune your little heart out, it will still pop on decel. Speaking from experience...

Just put my power core 4 on my 2020 DR 650 and it sounds like a monster. Thanks for the video

Pretty cool. The sound is way better with the upgrade muffler. Cheers.
nice video. straight to the point. Sounds a bit lean. you might need to keep the snorkel in place until you rejet.
Thanks Arturo
that fmf sounds SEXY
great choice mate :)
Wow, nice bike! You should upload more videos!
Wow thanks Isi. Be sure to subscribe to my channel for all the best motorbike videos, eh. I really like your Tumbler too.
Great video. But the ultimate " holy grail " exhaust for the dr650 is a titanium GSXR 1000 40FO.
You are running lean when you get popping when you are decelerating. Lean can burn a piston. Just wanting to help
These bikes will always have a decel pop no matter how fine you tune them and with whatever you do to these carbs.
How did you reduce the popping/backfiring? Just tweaked the fuel screw in the carb or?
Very good vid...answered everything. Did you get rid of popping on decel.
Damn, sounds awesome!
sounds good mate.
Sounds much better 👍... is that the stock gas tank??
Thanks 100...yep logo sticker simply peeled off
Thank you for this vid I wanted to go with the FMF for my DR650 but I hated the color of there logo, was it just a sticker that was easy to get off??
From crap to BRAAAAP 👍

Too loud and no we're near running right you should have no back firing when you let off.
