Maybe it's the gritty, almost cinematic opening shot, or the raw energy of the DR tearing through those landscapes. It's the perfect example of a true adventure bike, built to be ridden hard and put away wet. The DR and its contemporary -the KLR 650s are a testament to the beauty of simplicity. They're a reminder of what motorcycling is truly about.
Haha!! Same! Triumph Scrambler 1200 now looks too pretty for adventure. Man you guys have some serious dirt roads, I think any in Australia would just end & you’d be lost forever 😂

When did you race the Baja? I've been down there on the same roads from Ensenada to about a few hours south of there many times but I've never raced or even seen the race in person. Only dreamed about it.
Shawn - You nailed it on the best experience when racing down in Baja at sunrise. I have raced in Baja for over a decade and although, I was in a trophy truck at times, (no windshield) there is nothing like hitting a 100 mph section in the most remote areas watching the sun rise in the distance. I have to also say cracking your visor on the race course near the coast, in the middle of the night, with the bright race lights bouncing off of the cactus is unreal. Then ad 900hp to the audio and try to explain that experience. 🇲🇽🏁

Too much nonsense going on right across the river from us, whether it be cartels battling each other for territory, or battling the Mexican cops for, well, territory😅. Occasionally, if the wind is blowing just right, and you listen closely, you may just hear a gun battle if you're close enough to the border. Mostly they're killing each other, but as is the case with high-powered artillery in the hands of untrained idiots, there's going to be collateral damage. Plus desperation is at an all-time high down there right now, so no telling what someone would do if they see a pretty little DR rolling down the road. Of course those are worst case scenarios, but yeah, nahhh.😅. I'll stick to this side of the river. My buddies and I used to frequent the nightclubs over there every weekend in high school back in the late 80's in to the early 90's (when we finally grew out of it), and we never had any issues or concerns for our safety. But things were different back then. There's a whole 'nother caliber of buffoonery going on these days. I have friends and coworkers who recently and currently travel to the larger cities in the interior and report no issues, citing most of the violence/nonsense is more so concentrated in the border areas

I haven't done the Baja but I've ridden on a lonely road by the beach at sunrise and sunset. The sense of loneliness and freedom can't be beat.

I know this is a 650 but they both susi thumpers and while riding it to Morocco crossing some desert flats I imagined myself in some of these shots. So cool. Ever so often I come back to this video.
