    You’re sleeping on the party trick! Break up, awkward conversation, poor political interview? Throw your self down the stairs to get out of it!

    Copper doesn’t actually rust, which makes it super cool! That green color isn’t rust, it’s called patina. When copper is exposed to oxygen it turns green, but there is no damage to the metal and can be easily cleaned back to the copper color, unlike rusting iron.

      Also, the Statue of Liberty is made of copper. It originally had that orange-ish copper colouration. Now it's that teal colour we all know.

    I love how Athena starts the episode by saying "we gotta build the base" and MDB is like, "yeah totally, we gotta build the base and expand the raft" and then immediately rants about UA-cam and Wrestling for like 40 minutes lmao.
    Also neglecting nets and watching so many pieces of wood float by 😂😂

    My favorite thing about the Steam Deck is that not only can you play video games on it, you can play them online and you don't even have to pay a subscription. What a novel concept, right? That said I do think Valve should be on the hook for a Steam Legacy Client that works back to Windows 98 because the way they keep slamming the door on Windows installations is very annoying. It literally doesn't need to do anything except install, update, and run games, that would be completely sufficient.
    Glad to see that advanced purifier, now I wait with excitement for the moment that MDB gets a bottle.

    Man, I’ve heard the “Texture vs. polish” rant before. I think where it becomes hard to accept is when the views average at 6 views a day, stuck at 17 subscribers, and don’t have the skill yet to make “polish” (purely hypothetical of course). When stuck there, it’s all to easy to think “oh, polish is what I don’t have, that’ll fix it. I just need perfect it”. The video I’ve put the most work into (10 ish hours of editing) is not my best preforming video, has a watch time under 2 minutes, but I’m so proud of it. It’s conflicting, but I just hope that’s my “Texture”, you know?

    • @MahDryBread
      @MahDryBread  9 місяців тому +6

      You develop your texture naturally over time, so it will change a lot as time goes on
      Regardless of all the texture or polish in the world, it's not going to result in immediately noticeable analytical differences unless you're already big. This is more of a slow, over time kind of thing.

      For sure, just hard to fight that little voice that screams “just clean it up, that’ll help”. But I absolutely agree. I’m in my “consistent upload schedule and try to make bigger projects too, but struggle” era 😅

      @@SunnySideSpud Don't worry too much about constant uploads, I wouldn't say they help growth that much. The practice is good though! That's the most beneficial thing I got out of daily videos, was just practice.
      Never feel bad about having an upload gap. Sometimes it's better that way.

    • @SunnySideSpud
      @SunnySideSpud 9 місяців тому +2

      @@MahDryBread Yeah, it’s mostly for practice and general channel building. It’s the type of thing I like to watch, so I want to have it available for people. I’m hoping my bigger things coming up hit

      @@MahDryBread Having constant uploads would be great practice, yes, but it comes at the cost of video quality and your well-being, which is a big reason why you stopped doing daily uploads, if I'm not mistaken.
      As for upload gaps, don't make them too big or your channel will suffer as a result. I mean look at me, I've barely uploaded anything since my channel started. But that's because of something I don't want to get into here.

    12:46 That is honestly really helpful and really real. I’m trying to be a UA-camr, but I’m a perfectionist and get upset at any small “stupid” mistake I made. One time my computer picked up the sound instead of the mic on a series I couldn’t feasibly re-record the episode on and I almost didn’t want to upload it. And if I’d have been able to, I’d have sacrificed the original impression I had for the sake of better-sounding audio. Looking back at it now after hearing you talk about this, it really doesn’t matter how it gets out there to the degree I’ve always been concerned about, as long as I get out there in the realest, most fun way possible. And watching someone go through 20-30 min of something they just played threw off camera is honestly very obviously NOT that. It’s true: It happens, and it’s ok. Thank you.

    im working on an pokemon glitch iceburg type video and while yeah, theres a ton of iceburg style videos, but at the end of the day I really dont care if its not unique.
    Im doing it because I love watching those videos styles and Im having so much fun making this video. im doing it not because I think it'll draw in tons of people, I'm doing it because I enjoy doing it!
    its alot of work and is taking alot of time, but doesnt feel forced as if im just making videos to appeal to a certain audience, and its a project I am going to do regardless of if 1 person or 10000 people watch it :)

    The whole texture/polish thing makes a lot of sense. A youtuber I follow posted a video the other day and it felt very strange. It was over polished. Comments praised the editing and it was nicely done but it felt way too rushed and too much. Your rant completly makes sense in what happened.

    The federal parliament buildings and most provincial parliament buildings have copper roofs.
    I think that for the B.C. Parliament they didn’t want to wait for the roof to turn green so they lifted up buckets of horse pee to speed up the process

    the shark can only go after unarmored tiles on the water layer. so as long as your edges and any holes like the anchor hole are armored youre fine. it cant clip through and attack random tiles.

    • @lisahenry20
      @lisahenry20 4 місяці тому

      Pretty sure single gaps are fine and don't need armour. The only time I had an issue with a shark biting the interior was when I had built and armoured the perimeter of my raft and was working on filling in the middle. Next time I did it, once I had the outer tiles down and armoured, I would focus on splitting the inner gap into smaller ones (about 2 by 3) so I could get it shark proof as quickly as possible.

      @@pulsefel9210 wow, either I'm very lucky or you're very unlucky. Was it before or after Chapter 3 was released? Because I think they changed the shark before that update to not target inner tiles (and I think you don't even need all the outer tiles reinforced to protect against the shark, I remember seeing a diagram on the raft discord while waiting for the final release that shows what tiles need reinforcing and which don't).

    You think 32 GB of RAM is bad? I only have 3.6, so you've got nearly TEN TIMES as much as I do. Not to mention I have two CPU cores, a generic, built-in graphics card, and to top it all off, my computer is coming up on ten years old. Not trying to one-up you or anything, just reminding you that you're lucky to have such a good computer.
