  • With the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 super zoom camera, we can see things that are less than 14 miles (23 kilometers) wide on the Moon which averages almost a quarter of a million miles or over a third of a million miles away from the Earth! And we find out how close we can get to the Moon with various focal lengths (zoom levels) from 24mm to 12,000mm (digital). Plus, I'll tell you my simple - but critical - tip for taking great super-zoom pictures and videos of the moon. This video is… wait for it… out of this world! :)
    Check out my top 6 tips for great photographs or videos of the Moon with a zoom camera or a telephoto lens here:

    Subbed. I've had a P1000 for a few years now but haven't used the digital zoom at all. I'm surprised at how good the video is.

      Thanks @BradGryphonn! I usually keep the digital zoom off too, but I do turn it on from time to time as does a pretty good job in some situations.

      I'll definitely have a play. I've tried it with stills but wasn't happy with it. But then again, it was a few years back when I first bought it, and wasn't familiar with the settings. I'll give it a go soon.@@OneLensTwo

      It's great to hear that you enjoyed the video! I used the Nikon COOLPIX P1000 camera which zooms up to 3000mm. Those cameras are hard to find these days, so you could also use the Nikon COOLPIX P950 which zooms up to 2000mm. I hope you enjoy viewing the moon!

      @OneLensTwo  5 днів тому +1

      Thanks! The only wobbling that I've noticed at higher focal lengths and digital zooms is from the camera moving on the tripod. I'm always amazed at how the slightest movement of the camera can be seen in the video.

    So the camera that you're using can't capture any other stars and planets??
    Or there's only the moon in the sky, when you were zooming and taking these photos?
    Why can't I see any other shining objects in the background in these photos and videos??

    • @OneLensTwo
      @OneLensTwo  5 днів тому

      Good question! The camera's exposure is set for the brightness of the moon, which is much brighter than the relatively small stars and planets in the sky, so they don't show up in these pictures and videos. I can see the stars in the sky with the P1000 when the moon is not in the frame and I set the exposure for the lower brightness of the stars.

  • @Seansaighdeoir

    Thanks for a very insightful video. Presumably not being an expert you will need to buy a number of lens to attach to the P1000 to get these images especially up to 12000mm focal length?
    Have you a rough price for how much that setup would cost? Many thanks again.

    • @OneLensTwo
      @OneLensTwo  Рік тому +2

      Thanks for the feedback @Seansaighdeoir ! All of the video and images in this video were made with the P1000 with NO additional lenses or attachments. The P1000 is an all-in-one camera so the lens cannot be changed. The 12,000mm shots were done using the P1000's digital zoom. You could buy a P1000, open the box, point the camera at the moon and get results like this!

    was looking for an actual expplanation how to set the camera. mines in moon but its a blur

    • @OneLensTwo
      @OneLensTwo  2 місяці тому

      Switching to the moon setting with autofocus on should be all you need to do. Sometimes, when you zoon in really close to certain areas of the moon, there isn't enough contrast so the camera can't focus. You can try to pan to a different area of the moon and press the shutter button half way down to see if that will allow the camera to autofocus. If it does then switch to manual focus to lock in that focus. Repeat those steps if you change the focal length. I hope that helps!

    • @OneLensTwo
      @OneLensTwo  9 місяців тому

      Olá! A lente e o corpo da câmera P1000 não podem ser separados, portanto você não pode usar um teleconversor/extensor. In English: Hello, would it be possible to adapt an extender to the Nikon to enlarge another 4x, 8x, 16x? --> Hello! The lens and the P1000 camera body cannot be separated so you cannot use a teleconverter/extender.

Jetzt zoomt die Kamera auf 3000 mm und nach einer kurzen Pause auf 12000 mm (4,0-fache digitale Vergrößerung). Ich hoffe das hilft!
