few months ago I picked up this exact mower , fixed it and sold it. I use #4 pull cord, and I am glad I bought a 100ft of it recently, 40% of mowers I have had come my way needed a new pull cord I use Oregon 31-140 4 100FT[896] Small Engine Starter Rope. Also at the end of the video I saw you using non -detergent oil. I wouldn't of used that but if that is all you had its better then nothing. 10w30 or HD30 is what I use, Detergent oil.

I'm to the point where I'm going to fully inspect everything before I leave. Just bought a small hydraulic fender press thing and dude said "it just leaks some oil, works fine" got it home and filled it up. The thing was just full on dumping fluid. Not from a hose or something nice and easy, but out the seal of the main hydraulic cylinder that you can't get parts for anymore. Wasn't holding pressure at all and was way beyond useable. Thank goodness he took it back and from now on I'm fully testing every aspect of whatever I buy.

I’ve gotta say, cheap as they are, I really like these basic Weed Eater mowers. I’ve had a number of them and they always seem to work very well with little effort plus they don’t seem to rust out as easily as many others. The paint seems to be consistently good too, it’s well applied and shines up beautifully (unlike those MTD mowers that seem to use poorly applied latex house paint which peels off in sheets, even on a new mower!). These rarely disappoint!

Not entirely the same, but I’ve been using a very similar weed eater for the last decade. I inherited from my father who has probably used it 5 years before that. I don’t keep it as clean as I should but I make sure to change out the oil every other year and spark plug/air filter every 3-4 years. Still starts on the first pull even though it’s probably in desperate need of a blade sharpening. 😂

I'd have 15 responses in 30 minutes on marketplace. I've had people race to get them. Even try to out bid each other. I would have mentioned in the ad that this mower has very low hours for its age. I got my Weedeater Sprint 3.75hp mower for 10 bucks, I bought it because I wanted the deck, seller said mower wouldn't start, checked the oil and it was 1/4 of a quart over full, drain oil to right level, cleaned and re-gaped old plug, cleaned air filter, that little B&S 3.75hp engine fired right up, seller started crying and asked to barrow mower because they needed to cut there lawn, that was 10 years ago, I'm still using this mower, one of the best little B&S engine ever made in my opinion, BEST 10 BUCKS I EVER SPENT !

Got 2 of this exact Weed Eater Mower. They were Walmart Returns and the guy worked there and got to take them home when they were going to scrap them. They had never been used and had defects of some kind that prevented starting. The guy had them in his shed for several years and never worked on them. I got them free when I sold him a used mower. Literally the only thing wrong with them was that the carb gaskets weren't placed correctly and a port was blocked. I put new gaskets on them, cleaned the shed dust off, and they started and ran perfectly. I tried to give them back to the guy, but he insisted I keep them. We them agreed that he'd keep one and I'd keep the other. I ended up selling it for $100.

When I received it, I connected it to a battery, inserted a cassette, & all I heard was the motor. This told me it needed a new belt. I then bought 2 belt kits from a supplier in Sydney. A few days later, belt kits arrived. I fitted the correct belt, then found a few other issues. I repaired those, & it now works. No, I'm not selling it.

Glad it worked out in the end for you! Yes, some people's terminology and grasp of the English language (or lack thereof) can be pretty shady. "I just had the tires replaced," three years ago. "It's got new oil in it," from the oil change done eight months ago.
Don't get me wrong, our memories can be a fickle thing. "Seems like only yesterday" can be weeks, months, or years!
Though the term "new" in this case could have been, brand-used parts are new to this machine 😂😂

After flipping a lot of equipment, I'm now leaning towards specialty machines that are not considered a commodity: Plumbers Jetters, Woodchippers, Stump Grinders, Generators, Pressure Washers, Stihl/Husqvarna Chainsaws etc. The prices on these machines don't bottom out as much.

I have also bought cases for my phone that were a "guaranteed fit" for my phone. They weren't. I bought headlight assemblies that were a "guaranteed fit" for my car. They weren't. Nothing is as it seems. Question everything. I avoid the word "guaranteed" now.

You haven't seen shady. I recently got burned on a Yamaha blaster quad. The engine cases had a crack in them. It leaked transmission oil into the combustion chamber. I did this after I put oil in it. Which means the seller had just enough oil for it to run and ride for a little while. But once I put the oil in that was it. Oh yeah the price was 1200$

If you did something that a person would question don't post that. If you list something at lets say $ 100 and they say would you take $ 60 I don't even respond. I have to buy the stuff go through the machine and sell it. The shops get around 80 to 100 per hour to work on small engines. I am sure if they were selling they wouldn't give big discount. When I buy something cheap I expect issues.
