Quick and dirty? That repair looks like it has never had any damage! Ole's progress is really impressive. You just need to breath the same air as pro rider and you're good to go.
Great to see the PU injection technique. Could you share the name of the 2-component PU foam that was used? Thanks, Nico, for your inspiring video work (and great windsurf technique!)
Hi Nico, could you tell us how you carry your foil gear into the water, especially when there is a bit shore break? For small gear it is easy but how to carry the big foil board and 8.0 sail together without catching waves? Thanks!
Hi Nico, what components for the pu foam injected? Is that a foaming agent + resin alone or with some other filler? And what about the final polyester filler, what was it? Thanks
What about a video zooming in on the differences between different sail types? Sometimes they can be hard to define, especially freestyle sails & wave sail shapes. Or Freerace and foil sails. Perhaps by trying to slalom with a wave sail you could zoom in on the (obvious & less obvious) differences for example. I'm still not sure what some of the characteristics of the sail do. Like when the pressure point of the sail is more forward, backwards or higher or lower. When the power is higher or lower. With which shape does a sail have more acceleration, and which more topspeed? How does downhaul (lose leech) affect either of those? What do 2/3/4/5 battens do with the sail? Which aspects of sailing do cambers improve? (Low wind, high wind, no difference in medium wind?) And so on!
About the same time you posted this, I was getting my board back from a repair! I ran into a jetski floating dock section earlier in May after an 80-kilometer session. :-(
hi there,it would be great to see more repairs with details even for huge damaged boards(while we Turcks are not just ride the boards we rape them while surfing so they need BİGGER repairs :P ) Thank You!
I have a question: carbon fiber laminated with epoxi, ok, but then you say polyester filler? Is this epoxi with polyester microballoons, or you actually use polyester resin with balloons??
If that's intended as a very general video about having you board repaired ASAP, dont' care about quality, the only need being it's waterproof and ready for yesterday, then cool. But: - where has the big dent gone? After the accident the rail is badly crushed and when the guy begins working there's no sign of any dent, all perfectly flat. - I imagine this is a sandwich board also on the rails and repairing it while preserving the original structure (there to provide solidity) would be the longest and most complex phase of the job. - even If you don't give a sh*t about it and the only sandwich you ever heard about is the one you had for breakfast, you could do a lot better than randomly drilling some holes around and blindly injecting PU foam - besides, the board is made of polystyrene (EPS), not PU. This is the cheapest, fastest and lowest quality approach to the issue. Apart from the use of carbon - but why using a high quality material in such a a low quality process? - polyester (filler) over epoxy is a bad idea. It's widely used because it's much cheaper and, most of all, will cure in 1 hour compared to 24 required by epoxy, allowing delivery of the board 1 to 2 days earlier. But, to give an idea, no serious boatyard uses a polyester filler under the water line and don't be surprised if, after another impact, your filler patch detaches and falls off. Bottom line: if you're gonna throw that board away at the end of the season, just use it for training and filming those fancy You Tube videos then anything goes - wanna try concrete? WTF, go on! And, please, post the video... :-D I wouldn't do that to my boards and I suspect Nico's racing boards undergo a different routine if they need surgery
Who thinks Ole should keep on windsurfing?
Yes!
He looks like he's done it before. Was it really his first time? If so, he's a natural.
Yess!!
Absolutely!!By the way.. I'm a kiteboarder but your windsurfing videos are strangely cool and interesting to me!! :)
For sure! And he is so skinny that he will plane also with breeze
Quick and dirty? That repair looks like it has never had any damage! Ole's progress is really impressive. You just need to breath the same air as pro rider and you're good to go.
Just a matter of the right coach..
Not kidding - but Ole was doing brilliantly!!
Maybe talent is infectious?!!
One of the most positive things in life, teaching and learning something in the beginning!
Yeah, I absolutely agree with this! 😊
Hey Nico, do you think you could make a video on the right pumping technique, and using gusts most efficiently.? Keep up the amazing content.
Already working on it 💪
Wow!!!! 2 things.....first your videographer did amazing and second....that repair work was AWESOME!!!! great video Nico....go GER7🤙🤙🤙
The commentary is gold XD
love the video !!!!!

did u got any answers ? im also searching for that stuff :D
Me too!!
you ca use polyurethane foam, sold in bottles as well
The question is how long Ole will keep filming you when he realizes that windsurfing is much more fun 😂
You are really a happy man
I love watching your videos and I imaging I am alrealy on my windsurf
Hi Nico, could you tell us how you carry your foil gear into the water, especially when there is a bit shore break? For small gear it is easy but how to carry the big foil board and 8.0 sail together without catching waves? Thanks!
Great job by Ole, impressive! Was this one of his first sessions after a beginners training several years ago?
Yes, that’s exactly righty. More than 8 years ago he did it before.
It‘s Sunday in Germany... No more words needed Ben 😉
Hi Nico, what components for the pu foam injected? Is that a foaming agent + resin alone or with some other filler? And what about the final polyester filler, what was it? Thanks
Really useful for fixing foil catapults...😩
Hahahaha..practice+bread+nutella🤣
Good to know how to do repair.
Ole will be a top surfer.
Nice! Good effort Ole. Did you left Ole on the lake for three days?
Yes, that's why he was so good when I came back.
Today I fixed my board, Ш гыув glass cloth, but your friend is best in the epoxy )))

And so on!
Hey Nico, I'd like to know what vacuum pump that is being used in the video please? It's tiny and sounds much quieter than mine
Hi nico. Aalways watching your videos..Can u tell me the type of paint used?
Awesome, but it seems like you would apply the vacuum after drilling the holes. Just to take any H2o out of the equation...?
4:30 what 2k liquid you are using here exactly?
About the same time you posted this, I was getting my board back from a repair! I ran into a jetski floating dock section earlier in May after an 80-kilometer session. :-(
Ohh nooo 😄. But good that it's fixed now.
Nice repair but really goood perfect ws session - beach start? Wow;)
what PU foam density is recommended for use? Kg/per cubic meter
"That point -
when the Pupil surpasses the Master"!!
Der arme Ole muss als Sidekick herhalten. Aber super gemacht
Oh you didn't repaired it by yourself Nico ! :o Nice repair btw
In stead of my board, I broke a toe this weekend. How much was it approximately to fix the board?
Could you share which vacuum pump has been used?

Very nice video 😍
thanks 👌

No, it's actually called polyester filler. It's a product you can buy - not sure of the exact ingredients.
beach start super
Can you tell me plz what is the material you use in 5:23 ? I dont understand you..
that repair looks good, but if you dont fix the laminate under the sandwich its weak.

Was machst du eigentlich mit deinem "alten" Boards?
When are you getting the 2020 sails?
Oh hahah should've watched the entire video first i guess
Yes, haha. Will get some soon!
Nico - can you tell what exacatly is this foam?
2K Epoxyfoam apparently
Very interesting Viedo 👌👍🏼
Finde ich auch 🤙
Ole hat ja richtig Talent?! Jetzt ist er verloren als Kameramann, denn ab jetzt will er nur noch windsurfen...
New Sails Yeah
Yeah, and the first disliker is finally woke up... 👍 What a nice guy
fuck the nutella joke made me laugh
You still need to hit Ole with the boat to get even.
Sportliche Grüße
Zurück 🤙
Why polyester filler and not epoxy
yeah
That looks so bad, but in the end like new!
