    Mate a Jeep!! Never mind as long as you are good, some wicked tracks up there, I like the Crooked River track and the Collingwood Spur, white knuckle driving that is when we did it some 30 years ago.

    I agree on your call not to risk that river crossing….. I had a similar experience a couple of years ago where the water was maybe a tad deeper and the guy I was travelling with was egging me on to cross … I walked it and it was up to my arm pits (I’m 5’9”) I don’t regret my choice btw👍

    • @aguyandhistroopy
      @aguyandhistroopy  6 місяців тому

      Yeah now that is deep, fuck that. Even if you made it you’d have a car full of water and a massive clean up.
      It’s more the flow that worried me… didn’t feel like getting washed down stream. Back of a tilt tray wasn’t a plan either. 🤦🏽

      Sorry for the slow reply. Insurance paid for the tilt tray 👍🏼
      Just bad timing I guess, came around corner, I was slightly over the wrong side of the road, the jeep was well over the wrong side of the road, he pulled hard to the left to correct himself and my front tyre made contact with his back drivers side rim and tyre, this causing my steering and suspension to be ripped apart, not body damage what so ever. Could have been so much worse, I had a 50-80 mt drop off on my side of the road I could have went over or it could have been a head on, with serious injuries. Later found out his L plater son was driving, which he denied.
      Cars can be fixed, its back better the before after being fucked around by the panel shop for 7 months. Hard to keep a channel going through that but I managed.

    • @aguyandhistroopy

      Hey Mat, it probably was doable, just whether you wanted to risk the potential damage if you came unstuck. I did talk to a couple of guys in a patrol and 79 series dual cab, both on 35’s and 4 inch lifts that done it that afternoon. So I wish I had of attempted it now… I might still have my Troopy on the road?!
      As for my mood, no one was injured, really it should of been a head on, or me over the embankment. So it was a pretty good outcome really.

    Just caught up with this episode. Burgoynes track is a favourite of mine, both sides of the river and then continues on further east as well. The unfortunate prang with the Jeep was a bummer, BUT - had you tried to cross the river, the Troopy would have been a writeoff. You would have been on your side and having a bloody hard time opening the door upwards to try and get out. We've crossed the river when it was much lower, 800mm, and even then it was an eye opener. Hiluxes in the convoy floated..... my Patrol didn't, but only just.
