  • The choke was not coming off when the car warmed up so we pulled the choke assembly to replace parts and properly adjust it. The kick diaphragm is replaced, and several settings are adjusted, including the kick diaphragm travel, the air-gap for the choke-hold solenoid, and the torque of the closing spring when the solenoid is engaged. The biggest issue we found was that the pinhole that regulates the flow of heated air from the exhaust manifold heat exchanger was plugged, preventing much hot air from getting to the bi-metallic spring. Upon making these adjustments and cleaning the entire assembly, the choke then operated properly - but we ran into another issue that prevented the car from running well.
