Lyrics:
She walks these hills in a long black veil
She visits my grave when the night winds wail
Nobody knows, nobody sees
Nobody knows but me

Imagine being an inmate, and getting to live on forever as part of this recording.
Many will live forever because they chose to be saved through the sacrifice of Christ. That's the Only Way to live forever and even Johnny Cash knew That.
@@TheMidnightModder Jesus couldn't save himself
@@luciferseven1426 Dude, read the gospels and you'll see that Jesus willingly died then resurrected Himself.
Don't be ignorant.
Merle Haggard was an inmate at San Quentin during this recording. He got to see Cash play live as an inmate!
I can only Imagine some if not most of these Inmates were later on released from San Quentin and lived on to have children and grand children whom they will tell their story about how they were locked up in San Quentin and got to see none other than the Man In Black himself live right their very eyes and how they got to boo and protest peacefully against the guards and the entire prison itself through music
A small corner of fans in Yugoslavia will recognize this song in the form of Zenica Blues by Zabranjeno Pušenje
Thank you Johnny Cash for posting from heaven
Yes
johny cash is a legend
San Quentin, I Walk The Line and Ring of Fire are my favourite Johnny Cash hits.
He was an amazing songwriter and singer.
i like without love and highway patrolman best
You should probably dig a little deeper into his library if those are your favorites.
@@harryheebs690 I agree with Ring of Fire, my least favourite of his and certainly leaves me confused why he came up with it. But I Walk the Line is pretty good too, next to songs like All Over Again, The Ways of a Woman in Love, I Still Miss Someone, &c.
I used to be the lead singer of a small town Country & Western cover band about 15 years ago (I was 19 at the time) and this was a staple song of ours. Everytime we played it, it never ceased to give me the chills. Such a great song.
I’ll always love Johnny cash
You go to jail but you get a free Johnny cash concert.
That would be special!
First day in quentin this rollin'
Pefect. The best singer of all time. A great man.
The most iconic line in music history: "Hello, I'm Johnny Cash."
Johnny Cash was my very first idol when growing up. I listened to all his albums over and over again. He's a true American Hero and Christian. God Bless Johnny Cash!
The man in Black 💜
I'm listening to this May 2021. The prison and criminal justice system for all it's progress and good intentions is still no better.
I want to finish a social sciences degree and fight for the change.
@@ryanforster8761Best wishes and I hope you succeed.

This was my first of many, many Johnny Cash albums and at nearly 70 years of age I’m as big a fan today as I was as a teenager in high school in the sixties.🧨

First heard this in 1970 but didn't understand the sentiment behind it. Too young I guess. Now I'm 74 and understand perfectly. Johnnie you're great. You gave and still give hope to those who have given up on life. Maybe we'll meet in the sweet by and by......R.I.P JOHNNIE.
Which Song you want to hear from Cash?
Me: Yes
Zenica Blues
San Quentin, you've been livin' hell to me
You've hosted me since nineteen sixty three
I've seen 'em come and go and I've seen them die
And long ago I stopped askin' why
San Quentin, I hate every inch of you
You've cut me and have scarred me thru an' thru
And I'll walk out a wiser weaker man
Mister Congressman why can't you understand
San Quentin, what good do you think you do?
Do you think that I'll be different when you're through?
You bent my heart and mind and you may my soul
And your stone walls turn my blood a little cold
San Quentin, may you rot and burn in hell
May your walls fall and may I live to tell
May all the world forget you ever stood
And may all the world regret you did no good
San Quentin, you've been livin' hell to me
San Quentin, has estado viviendo infernal para mí
Me has alojado desde diecinueve sesenta y tres
Los he visto ir y venir y los he visto morir
Y hace mucho tiempo dejé de preguntar por qué
San Quentin, odio cada centímetro de ti
Me has cortado y me has marcado a través de un
Y saldré a un hombre más sabio y débil
Señor Congresista, ¿por qué no puede entender?
San Quentin, ¿qué bien crees que haces?
¿Crees que seré diferente cuando termines?
Has doblado mi corazón y mi mente y puedes mi alma
San Quentin, has estado viviendo infernal para mí

And Warden..you tasted just like ham.
For those who watched Let There Be Carnage
Meryl haggard was in the front row I believe.
Different show, same prison. Haggard was there for Cash's first show at San Quentin 11 years earlier in 1958.
First yay

Mr warden you tasted just like ham
Well thats punk lmao
Great song but it's funny how criminals always think they are the victims.
They aren't but the people who really deserver prison often don't get the punishment they deserve and some get punished for much pettier crimes
Freedom of Speech......... is CRIMINAL
:(
why ):
⁰01
every masterpiece (Zenica blues) has its cheap copy (San Quentin)
He did time at Folsom too. Robbery conviction, I believe. BUT, he was a great song writer and singer; he was a pretty good actor too!
No, Johnny Cash never did time in Prison, but I think he felt pain for the prison population in America, is why he did this concert.
If you were convicted out of carelessness and misunderstood or justice thrown away. Come to Jesus I'll tell you he cares about justice and doing right. Get to know Jesus read the holy bible and if you feel scared to die or anxiety and if you feel church calling you to come whenever you feel down come on by and Come to a christian church..
