Would have been good to have included a few moments of night footage after you took the ring off. Thanks for the tip though, good to know.

There was some footage at the start (around 2:45) wihout the ring on but it is such poor performance that it is probably hard to tell the difference. There is another video showing how to really fix this problem and get good night footage at : ua-cam.com/video/-o9UUKBrfiA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WesternAustraliaNowandThen

@@WesternAustraliaNowAndThen thanks. I did see the other video and that add on really does improve things. I maybe getting a WXF1 so should I want to night shooting might consider that option.

6:31 how you remove the top cover?

I didn't remove it deliberately, it just broke off as I thought it would. The connections are very weak.

It has a high dynamic range setting that may give similar results but I can't comment on it as I do most alterations in post processing.

I can see you have knowledge of different camcorders and their capabilities,. Would you be about to answer this question? Are there any other camcorders other than Panasonic and Sony camcorders that shoot in green hue night vision. I have the Sony fdr ax 43 and 33 and I have very nice night vision. I also use ordro night vision light or andoer night vision light and it is perfect. Do you know of any other brands that shoot in green night vision mode. No older models that are outdated. Like I said I have the Sony fdr ax 43 n 33. But they are rather expensive. And I’m am not looking to buy a bunch of Sony or Panasonic camcorder that are close to $700 to $1000 dollars depending if you buy it used, open box, excellent condition etc. I’d love to be able to record in green night vision compared to most camcorders these days being in black and white. My question to you is do you know of any other brands or cheaper panasonic, any cams that shoot in green night vision. Cuz if they are gonna be all in black n white. The Sony fdr ax 43 and 33 are used for POV cams or personal carry around cams. If not I will end up using the CCTV cams that shoot in black n white night vision. And in king run cheaper to use. Set em up run 100 feet to 300 feet cables from camera back to the NVR or DVR. I prefer the Ethernet cams. But will use the regular audio for DVRs. And I have a 55 inch TV that I could use as a monitor. Bug I just want to know if other brands shoot in green might gision, or even full spec! Thank you very much. Would appreciate and be grateful for any info you could share with me.

Sorry but I can't be of much help. The Panasonic VXF1 is the first we have had that has any real night vision capability although it is the infra red that works well not the colour night vision. To get really good night vision, you need to spend a lot of money but over time that will change as tha capability makes its way down the cahin of camera models. The VXF1 was around the $1k mark when we bought it but I really don't think it is worth that sort of money. The older V785 was around $500 and was much better value even though it does not shoot in 4k.

It would be quite good with a decent IR light on top. I show the difference in the following video : ua-cam.com/video/-o9UUKBrfiA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WesternAustraliaNowandThen

I really don't understand what the fuss is. This camcorder is for general use, you want it for specific use, the ring is blocking the light so you remove it, wow! need more IR light ... so get a better stronger light, why you think pana ir light HAVE to cover 20 meters ahead?

As it is the IR on this camera is worse than useless. Surely they could have designed it a little better and put on a light that is worth while. We have now got a top mounted IR light that sorts the problems out but the initial design is bad. ua-cam.com/video/-o9UUKBrfiA/v-deo.html&ab_channel=WesternAustraliaNowandThen
