Definitely. I saw him in concert years ago and he refused to perform this song and got mad when the audience begged for it. He only wanted to do his new music that no one had ever heard. Glad he is back to performing his biggest hit.
It almost feels like someone sat down with him and had a heart to heart talk about what he meant to so many people and how his song changed peoples lives for the better and how it still does today. He maybe finally realized that his curse was really a gift. To me, it was a gift from God,
I totally agree ... There was a time when he was ashamed ... There was this one reality show where they threw in a bunch of people that were famous at some point... But were no longer nearly as famous.. Well he was on there and they wanted him to play his song...and he was like feeling like they were picking on him but they LEGIT wanted to hear it. I dont know why he would be ashamed ... But it sure seems hes over that now which is good
@@dodge33445at a guess, I'd say that's the fallout from 1. The stress of having been sued for sampling (something he can laugh about only decades later) and 2. The outrage at a white guy rapping AND being successful. He was not respected for being talented enough to pull this off. Instead he was ridiculed for years and basically named as the embodiment of all that is wrong with the music industry
You may think that's a cool thing to say in the U.S. but here in the UK it sounds like a vehicle your gran would drive to the shop to buy a bottle of milk in. As it's England, shades would not be required. The sunroof could be on tilt though. Weather permitting.
He got so much hate back in the day because the song was such a hit, it's good to see him getting the love. No matter what anyone says, put this song on anywhere and see what happens.
I saw him about 10 years ago at one of the 1990s tours. Salt n Pepa, Boys to Men, a bunch of other 90s groups. It was awesome. When Vanilla Ice came on the bass drop was insane. I have been to some loud shows. Old school raves. I thought I heard deep bass. Nope. When the bass dropped for this I felt it in my soul 20 years ago. It was awesome. He is a performer and entertainer.
Same here, All my teen years were the entire 90s. 90s was great for us because we were young. And as much as I love technology, I still miss the days of no cell phones
The guy was embarassed and tried to run away from his ice ice baby days for so long, and now he's reveling in them again. Kinda funny. That said, he never had anything to be embarassed about back then. It was high energy, high rhythm, fun stuff, the guy was talented, reasons why that song and he became so popular. I'm glad he's doin his thing, then and now. Go Ice!
Too true. Everyone (including me) wanted to hate him & this song but it was just impossible to do. Talk about staying power LOL. 33 years & he's still rockin out
I'm 55 and I've been jamming out since the early eighties everything from grandmaster flash to nucleus and all the way up to when vanilla ice came out on the scene this song will never get old
Good for him. He was not only a rapper but an entertainer. Didn’t just sit there and talk in the mic. Brings back good memories when this song came out. Better, simpler, and more fun times.
You can say he's just a one hit wonder, but most singers in this genre go their whole careers without even that. Money? Yes, they make a lot this days, but they won't be remembered forever like this dude!
❤❤❤ every single person on earth knows the words to ice ice baby. My 5 yr old grandson even does. I guess from my daughter/,his mom? But he knows them.

He has always resented being "vanilla ice". Back then, it was the equivalent of what "k pop" stars have to go through, and for a dude who made it big through hustling, that is an insult. He was on a "big brother" episode....or a show like that, and they had "vanilla ice" stuff put up in the house and he went on a RAMPAGE destroying it. He hates that part of his life and has fought with his past for years. He has a "metal" version of "ice, ice baby"...he could have done that. But nothing is worse than being recognized for something that you arent truly passionate about.
@@pitlee He is actually doing really well for himself it seems, I believe you. I just stinks someone being that torn up about something, let alone something that most of would consider a blessing.

You gotta give it to him. Yes, he fought against the standards of rap and survived. He overcame drugs, worked hard, educated himself, and now is super successful in construction. That’s a success story
I will forever cherish the memories of being in 9th grade asking for To the Extreme for Christmas, and getting the cassette in my stocking and playing everyday and I still have that same cassette today, wonderful memories.
Keep in mind that when “Ice Ice Baby” was first released, it was the B side to “Play That Funky Music.” David Morales, a disc jockey, decided to give the B side track some radio time, and the rest is history.
Wooow!!! This guy from the infamous band called “Vanilla Ice” started singing this song in the beginning of the 90’s and in those days his fans were young people, now 30 years or so, those fans turned into old people and in this generation the young people can’t understand that type of music!!! Well, that’s what generations turned into in just a few decades!!!😎🤘
You’re so right! I watched the original video with my mom when I was in my 30’s and now I’m in my 60’s, my mom passed away 5 years ago. At the time my mom loved the video. Vanilla is still in such good shape after all these years!
