I don't know how often I said amazing in this video but well all of these TV Shows are just AMAZING right 😂🧡
I hope there was something new for you in this list and let me know if I should do something similiar with Period Drama Films, Old Films from Hollywood, etc. Because I really enjoyed making this video 🕊
You should watch 'La dama velata' if you haven't seen it yet. It's amazing spanish-italian show from the late 19th century and it has just 12 episodes.
Do "Old films of Hollywood", please! I'm beginner in Vintage lifestyle so this would be so helpful for me!
P. S. You look gorgeous in that dress!
Lots of love from Slovakia! ☺️
Thanks for your recommendations! The Australian one really catch my eye.
Also Spanish I reccomend ARDE MADRID, is a comedy about Ava Gardner in Madrid (the fifties), Debi Mazar plays her. Maybe some Spanish history/culture knowledge is needed to fully understand, but amazing anyway.
PENNY DREADFUL, gothic-horror XIX century with Eva Green is my absolute favourite TV show ever. Beautiful aesthetic and dresses, great characters and actors, literary references, amazing settings...
:D
You should definitively do one for films, series are vey demanding time wise while films usualy run for two hours or so. I personally would rather watch a couple films than commit myself to a lenghty series (altough I've seen many of the ones you're recommending). You can check out Cable girls if you haven't already, film wise I personally love Le roi danse and The piano
A really good german show is Kuhdamm 56. It‘s wonderful to watch and talks about important topics like woman rights in a man dominated time etc.
When I saw Poirot I shouted: "Finally someone!!"
BEST SHOW! BEST DETECTIVE 🕊
Yes, he is my favorite so far.
He is the reason I started my vintage obsession!😆❤
Speaking of movies, have you seen Marvel ones?
Me and my mom are obsessed with the show
The detective show that truly resonated with me was Jeremy Brett's Sherlock Holmes. Best ever and VERY historically correct.
anne with an e is a show i highly recommend and it’s on netflix 💛
It's on my list for quite a while now! Can't wait to watch it soon 🕊
AwaE fans, let's make Some noise! 💓
YES!!!
@@knihetty5569 I love that my fandom is in every comment section of videos about recommended Shows and movies 🧡
OMG my current favorite! Pls watch this show!!
You definitely need to check out Call The Midwife, North & South (2004), Poldark and Howards End (2017)!
Poldark is Best 💓
Oh yes Poldark! I love it
Call the midwife is a lovely show!
Yes yes yes!!!!
LOved NOrth&South!
Call the Midwife is another great one set in the 50s and 60s. The clothes are 😍😍😍😍😍😍😍😍
YES! Finally someone shows appreciation for Poirot
It definitely needs more appreciation 🕊
Shirinatra: "My 10 favourite TV shows..."
Me:*going to watch every single one of them*
Yasss for Miss Fisher!! I watched the whole series twice! Can't wait for the movie!!
Phrack is an OTP, I can tell you.
You can visit “La Magdalena” that is the location of “Gran Hotel” in my hometown Santander (Cantabria) in the north of Spain 😊😘
Hopefully one day 👏🏻🕊
I recommend for you (I very very like these movies and drama):
Pride & Prejudice (1995)
Sense and Sensibility (1995)
Grantchester (2014-) actually 4 seasons
Becoming Jane (2007) with James McAvoy ;)
Some Like It Hot (1959)
Greetings from Poland! :)
I absolutely looove Downton Abbey! 💕 And I would highly recommend:
- Call the midwife
- Poldark
- Las chicas del cabel
- Velvet & velvet collection
- Land girls
Babylon Berlin is a great show, set in 20’s❤️
Babylon Berlin is so great!!
Finaly someone mentioned it :D
I would highly recommend Poldark, especially for those who like period dramas or Outlander. And I know some other people brought it up, but Anne with an E is my new favorite TV show!
Is poldark similar to outlander with the sex scenes and dark scenes? or is it more light like downton abbey?
@@kaylag9579 Poldark is much more like Downton Abbey than Outlander. Outlander is *extremely* explicit in terms of things like rape (including male rape), extreme torture, etc. etc. Poldark is a bit darker than Downton, as it isn't about one family and their estate's drama, and more about the drama of all of Cornwall, but it's nowhere near the level of dark that Outlander is. The only triggering thing I can think of in Poldark is there is a character later on in the show who gets married off into an abusive situation with a husband that rapes her, but it isn't incredibly graphic. The rape scenes are non-existent to my memory; you just see the fear of the female character leading up to it happening and then her trauma after he abuses her. That's only a minor portion of the show, however. For Outlander, it was the main characters and it was constantly happening.
(I have only seen season one of Outlander.)
@@anneth7154 Thank you so much for your input. I try and protect my mind and spirit from different shows. So having someone who has watched explain things really helps. I think I will give Poldark a try and stay away from Outlander. Thank you again. :)
@@kaylag9579 I'd say it's fairly dark, but definitely not as explicit. It deals with things like rape, war, and PTSD but it is nothing like the drawn out and explicit scenes in Outlander. It's a bit sexy, but not explicit, a mild PG13 maybe? It's a bit more adventurous feeling than what I've seen of Downton Abbey. Hope that helps!
I love Agatha Christie. I have most her books and I’m still collecting
Velvet and velvet colleccion are really good too! Set in the 50s and 60s in Spain. Follows the lives of seamstresses/dressmakers in a shop. And another good one is cable girls.
Not sure if miniseries count, but there are Period miniseries I LOVE and watch time and time again:
- North and South (2004)
- Anne of Green Gables (1985)
-Wives and Daughters (1994)
They are AMAZING!!!
I also would recommend these TV shows (current)
- Anne with an E (2017) 3 seasons
- The Alienist (2018) 1 season.
- Sanditon (2019) 1 season
I love some good Period Mini Series but they are kind of a different category for me that's why I didn't include them in here hehe 😄 Definitely should make a video about that too!
Anyway, thanks for the recommendations 🕊
I love the three Anne mini series (1985, 1987, 2003??)☺️❤
k94tran where can we see the older mini series like Ann of green gables?
I love Sanditon 💖💖💖
k94tran Also Emily of New Moon is a great series! The first episode is pretty dark, but the rest of the show is very wholesome :) encore I believe has put out the whole series on UA-cam for free!!
I honestly had a mentally dreadful day and I can't describe you how releived and relaxed I became when you popped on my suggestions . Seriously , thank you for sharing what you love in a very calm aesthetic way . Because I can't tell you how much of a difference it makes in one's day
I'm sorry you had a bad day but I'm glad to hear my video helped you a tiny bit! I really hope today will be better for you 🕊
Highly recommend "Most Beautiful Thing" (Netflix), set in the 50s - a show with really beautiful photography and costumes! I personally love the bossa nova playing in the background and the social aspects represented in the show.
Yes, definitely a great recommendation and it got renewed for second a second season! Yeah! 🎉
Some Canadian recommendations: Bomb Girls, Anne with an E and Murdoch Mysteries!
Love Murdoch Mysteries. ❤
Bomb girls was wonderful.
i enjoy murdoch too. Johnny harris is hilarious.
I didn’t know about some of them, thank you for putting this list together! Downton Abbey is my absolute favourite. The storylines are amazing and as you said, the fashion is to die for!
I'm glad you mentioned Poirot! ☺️ I also love the old BBC Miss Marple (Joan Hickson), Partners in Crime (the old one) and I totally love the Albert Campion series, with Peter Davidson! 😍 and I also love All Creatures Great And Small!
I have recently watched ''The Bletchley circle'' and I totally recommend it to everyone. It's really, really good.
It is!!!! I loved it, too
LandGirls by the BBC was also nice
Oh yes I've seen the first season! It was great 🕊
Yes!!!! I love The Bletchley Circle!!! And oh my goodness Bletchley Circle: San Francisco is so awesome as well and brings so much, I love it!!!!
@@ViridisArborem Oh really? I've only watched season 1 and 2. I should definitely go and watch this San Francisco version , too👍
Yesss this is the content we need!! Thanks for explaining what each show is about and not just listing them. You look beautiful too btw 😍
It’s the dress from your Instagram post 😍
Outlander is so good ! I am waiting for a lot of episodes to come out so I can binge watch them 😄 ...
Victoria is so, so beautifully made!
I recommend Velvet and velvet collection on Netflix it’s about designers in an Spanish 1950s fashion house it’s A love story between a humble seamstress and a young man destined to inherit the majestic fashion empire ruled by his father. The star-crossed lovers are prepared to to break the conventions and follow their hearts.
This video is so inspiring! I love your dress, hair and makeup and I love all of your recommendations!💕 I'm a huge fan of Agatha Christie too, I recommend watching the Miss Marple series as well 😊
Agent carter is absolutely amazing!!! And the costumes and hairstyles and just everything...........😍
I'm absolutely in love with that show. But I'm very sad that they stopped it after 2 seasons.... But you have to try it!!!!
Hayley Atwell is a time travelling champion!
I just finished Agent Carter and yes!!!
YESSSSSSS!!!!!!!! I've watched both seasons twice and I want to watch them again!!
I have watched that show countless times. It's a shame it had a low viewer count when it first came out. A very underrated show for both marvel fans and vintage lovers!
I love it.
Downton Abbey is the best 😌
Lady Mary’s dresses are always so very elegant.
Indeed, she's a style icon 🕊
I love Victoria very much, we all need the 4th season!
I can strongly recommened you to watch Reign, because costumes there are so so beautiful!
Екатерина Дегтярева Completely historically inaccurate 😂, but fun.
I'm currently watching reign and began to love it, but the costumes and the music terrified me at first. It's like the other comment said, absolutely historically inaccurate. But I love series that take place in that period of time, also as Outlander. And they are compared to series in other decades, like the 20s oder 50s, very rare.
@@Sarautumnlight reign isn't in Netflix
Mad Men is one of my absolute favorites! I need to check out Peaky Blinders and the Marvelous Miss Mavel - I've heard great things about them, and this confirms it! Thanks for sharing!
So glad to hear Miss Fisher getting a mention. It's so fun to see places that are so familiar to me in the episodes - I took my sister to The Windsor Hotel (where Miss Fisher stays in episode 1) for afternoon tea to celebrate her graduation and we went to Luna Park (where Phryne and Jack go on the roller coaster) as kids.
YES!!! Peaky Blinders!!! And yes Cillian's eyes are sooo gorgeous :)
Super mature subject matter, but gorgeous cinematography and fantastic story.
Some of my favourites in addition to the shows you mentioned, which I love.
1. The House of Eliott
2. Flambards
3. A Woman of Substance trilogy
4. The Darling Buds of May
5. The Cazelets
6. The Brides of Christ
7. Lark Rise to Candleford

10. The Paradise
11. Forsyte Saga
12. Wives and Daughters
13. Mr. Selfridge
14. Murdoch Mysteries

17. Upstairs Downstairs
18. Howards End
19. A Room with a View
20. Penny Dreadful
7 and 10
Love it
I'm totally in love with your tips 🥰🥰🥰
I highly recommend the BBC Mini series Little Dorrit! It literally covers everything: romance, drama, thriller, mystery! It criticizes social class and the debt situation back then. It has an AMAZING cast, costume design and set! It's based on the book by Charles Dickens, too bad it's so underrated!
Sounds great! Thanks for the recommendation 🕊
Yes! It is so good!!
Hey Shirin! Thank you so for this video. I recommended "Call the midwife". I hope you will enjoy it as much as i do. Take care!
That's also on my list already! Can't wait to see it. Have a great day 🕊
@@Shirinatra just perfect! Sunny day 👩🎨
I started watching Downton Abbey because of you and I love it so much! I watch it with my mom everyday hehe ✨♥️✨
I recommend High seas (Alta Mar), it is a Spanish show on Netflix, the plot is not as good as Grand Hotel but the vintage style is definitely there :)
Agreed! Whoever did the wardrobe on that show did an really good job.
Are you serious... Plot is amazing in fact it's super duper amazing show.. It covers romance suspense horror action detective evil good everything... It's the most under rated show any one can watch
Additional recommendations:
Poldark (the new one)
Pride and Prejudice (1995)
Emma (2007 I guess, quite unknown but soo A M A Z I N G)
Sense and Sensibility (idk when but a BBC production)
Anne with an E
I recommend Foyle's War! It is set during WW2 in England, and revolves around a police investigator in this small town. It's so good and has great characters, and also really focuses on the conflicts of people struggling at home during the war. I also recommend Upstairs Downstairs, Cranford and Return to Cranford, and The Paradise. The Paradise is unfortunately discontinued but it is so amazing, it is about one of the first department stores and I think it is set in the 1800s or early 1900s.
Love these recommendations! I would also suggest Poldark, Penny Dreadful, and Versailles.
Poirot is such a classic, my mom and me always used to watch them all the time. The books are amazing too! Thanks for this video, got some new shows to check!
I LOVE Victoria I rewatched it for years! Glad to see someone else as obsessed with vintage things as me
An amazing show to watch is "Land Girls" it's set during WW2 and fallows the lives of three land girls who work on a large estate gardening, managing, and working for a rich family with some comedic relief here and there (my explanation isn't very good but you'll just have to watch it to see how good it is) I has about three seasons and you can find it on Amazon or Netflix
Cranford is something you might also like! It's based on a book by Elizabeth Gaskell and has 2 seasons. Their costumes are also👌
Thank you for your video, I really love Outlander, Peaky Blinders and Hercule Poirot of course.
My favorite shows are I Love Lucy and The Andy Griffith Show. I have been waiting for this video!! Thank you so much!!
Miss Fisher’s Murder Mysteries is fab, fabbity fab. ♥️
Also Downton-but that’s already a given! ♥️😂
Anne With an E is an AMAZING show. It’s set either in the Victorian or Edwardian era (I’m not sure). It’s based off Anne of Green Gables.
its late victorian
i absolutely adore your accent and listening to you talk is so lovely ! i can hear the tv influences in your voice, every now and then i can hear a slight variation, a couple times was a bit of irish, some was very british and a touch of american! keep up the amazing work
Hai ms shiri,I love watching vintage/old fashions dresses thats why I follow your vlog...i love read books too, hope i could see your recomended beautiful books🤗
Your recommendations are always spot on, so I'm currently writing everything down whilst watching this. Also, your blouse is so beautiful and you look so elegant!
Yay, then it was successful for me! 🕊 Thank you, it's a dress from Miss Patina 😊
Oh I absolutely love Gran Hotel 😍it's incredible and I love the dresses Alicia wears 😍😍😍😍😍
Lovely tips, thank you!
I absolutely love your simply makeup! You look beautiful ☺️❤️
"Coisa mais linda" tv show on Netflix. It's set in the 1950s in Brasil. Bossa nova and amazing 50's outfits.
🇧🇷
"I'm, like, a very female female" oof, big mood haha 😅. I also want to see Peaky Blinders, but now I just wanna see all of these shows really 🤭😍
I highly recommend the very heartwarming British show "Call the midwife". It's set in East End, London, during the '50s and '60s, and is loosely based on the memoirs of Jennifer Worth.
I’d recommend The Man in the High Castle, it is basically a “what if” the nazis won. Which means it can be a bit dark but it’s an amazing female lead and the clothes are very beautiful.
I just finished the last season. Such an amazing show. I might have to read the book, as well.
Another one is 'Penny Dreadful' . It's one of my favourites
I'm so glad that you mentioned Gran Hotel! I thought nobody apart from spanish people knew it
this video came at such a perfect time! i just finished anne with an e (which i see is on your watch list) and i absolutely loved it and wanted to check out some more shows set in earlier time periods. thank you for the list, can’t wait to check these out 😊♥️
Heyy i watched Gran Hotel, and it was amazing! Thank you!❤
YAY for Miss Fisher!!! I've seen the entire show four times, plus some of my favourite episodes that I've rewatched just because^^
Great recommendations, I definitely will watch the ones that I haven't seen yet. Have same struggle mentioning "Poirot" 😂, but you did great actually. You were lovely as always, keep it up girl!!!❤
Outlander OMG BEST EVER. soooo in love with Claire and Jamie. Just finish the 5th season. Going to watch it again from the beginning. I just can't live without them.
Love love ur channel.
"Miss Fisher" and "Agatha Christies's Poirot"!!!! My favorites!!!!!! I watch and rewatch his shows all the time, for the plot of course, but also for the amazing fashion and the settings!!!
Gran hotel amazing !! Thank you great presentation x
I recommend to you Poldark which is on Netflix. In England on the end of the 18 century
Thank you for all the recommendations!
My recommendation for you: Poldark!
You would LOVE Call the Midwife!! It’s on Netflix and set from the 1940s onwards
My mom loves Victoria! I still need to see it. :) And The Crown is my current favorite!! So sensitive and nuanced. I can't wait for the 4th season.
I was listening so intently and then almost at the end. . . you took a drink and then I found myself wandering where you ( or your mother?) found the gorgeous green goblet you were drinking from ?? Yes, I am obsessed with lovely, stylish drink-ware almost as much as I am with your beautiful channel. . .
. . . And period dramas. 🥰
I'm about a minute in, and...
•She is wearing the most gorgeous dress I have ever seen in my life.
•Outlander sounds perfect; I love learning about the 1940s and the 18th century the most.
•Will report back with more if needed :)
For 1940s/1950s fashion I recommend Bletchley Circle, My Mother and Other Strangers, Land Girls snd Home Fires x
I would also recommend: -Alias Grace -Las Chicas del cable and - Anne with an E. I love the shows so much and miss them on your list. ❤️
Yes, please, more of that, especially if it is about period dramas, Jane Austen, North and South, etc.
I personally see more of Maria Ehrich in you, but that's not important since you are just you and that is totally fine 😉
Marvelous. I also reccomend watching the spanish princess and Ophelia!
She makes me feel so calm...🥰❤️
A show I can definetöy recommend is Anne with an e (Netflix) its well written, the story is capturing, every character is special and interesting and last but not least they talk about so important topics that are still important today eventhough the series takes place in the early 1800 I believe. Rights for women, LGTBQ, Struggle for racial equality, freedom of speech and in general the right to be yourself. I can only say that this show has changed my life completely.🧡
Now I have to re-watch Downton Abbey from the beginning!
Harlots, Gentleman Jack, and Derry Girls are also really good!
Caitlin Moon Oh what a pity🥳🙏🏻
Hi! I highly recommend Reign, it's my favourite show! It's set in 1550 and it is about the life of Mary Stuart, also it is historically accurate!
I love this series! I was going to recommend it. I've rewatched it a zillion times!
Thanks for discover me Gran Hotel, i'm spanish and i didn't hear about it! I'm going to watch it! ❤
Check out Las Chicas Del Cable. It takes place in Spain.
I have watched and love most of these shows! One I watched and absolutely fell in love with is a Turkish show called Kurt Seyit ve Sura. It's pretty much a love story between a Turkish soldier and a rich Russian girl which spans a little over a decade maybe, from the height of Nicholas II's reign to the Revolution that changed everything. It's an extremely well made show, the costumes are absolutely gorgeous and the story very touching. Totally recommend it! I've watched it on Netflix, hopefully it's available in Germany as well.
Thank you! Now I definitely know what to watch next. I also love "The last tycoon" 💘 The atmosphere and the visuals are incredible! Highly recommend to watch)
Oh I love that show too! So sad there's only one season, it was fantastic ✨
I saw this video just today, I want to reccomand "The last Tycoon" for the gorgeous costumes and the cast. I'm in love with it and I'm obsessed by the marvelous Mrs Maisel ♥️😍
You are so beautiful!🥰♥️ I love your style sooo much!!!💕
Cillian Murphy always takes my breath away 😍 I know others have mentioned it already, but Poldark is amazing, too! Aidan Turner is another jaw-dropping specimen 😉 lol. Sanditon is a show that just came out, and it’s wonderful as well!
Yes I would love a period drama video as well!
I'm obsessed with the roaring twenties as well.
i definitely need to check out miss fisher, that sounds SO good, i'm so down for a female-driven period detective series!! also, have you seen fleming?? lara pulver is just a vintage beauty in every scene i love it so much
Murdoch Mysteries needs to be on that list.
You should do films from Old Hollywood and all the actors and actresses that you adore from Old Hollywood. :)
I'd like to add to the recommendations: The Durrells in Corfu (Amazon Prime) - an english family moves to a Greek island in the 30s. Its a much more light-hearted show than most period pieces, and such a favorite of mine :)
I'm Greek soo it would be really interesting to watch!
It's so good!
I also would recommend Anne with an E ❤
I wanted to say that in this video, you look pretty lovely ! Also, thanks for this recommandations !
I love all these you talked about!!!! A few I have not seen yet!! Downtown Abby and The Crown and Victoria are my ABSOLUTE favorites👑💗👍💐i love all things English!! English history is my passion!!👑💗💗Have you see The TUDORS? HENRY VIII I had a whole different opinion of him. He was a great king for England. 👍 I love your style and channel!💗👑🎀💄💟💟
My favorites are Victoria , Poldark, Downtown. I'm currently watching Grantchestor and so far I really like it !
Mr. Selfridge is a beautiful show with incredible wardrobe and set designs. It’s about the Selfridge department store in the early 1900s and focuses a lot on fashion. I believe they were one of the first stores to have a cosmetic department and it was so interesting seeing the controversy over that and how women were learning to use makeup for the first time.
