Nice looking airfield. Well done to the owners and stakeholders there for making it well presented and engaging with the local council to sort out planning issues. Very impressed 👍

Steep approaches: go to Popham and practise on R03. Should be part of every pilot's tool kit. Get to know what your aircraft is capable of - you might be surprised.

It's a nice little airfield and cafe set up. I started my LAPL training there, but only did a couple of hours, preferring to move to another flying club. I wasn't keen on my instructor (nor him me) and his attitude towards a few things and an issue with a broken parking brake on a 172 destroyed my trust in him. I was also left a bit confused about their pricing policy for lessons. At the time I did the lessons, it was a separate aircraft hire rate and a 'cash in hand' rate for the instructor. This may have changed since I was there, but I felt the instructor was inclined to 'stretch out' the lesson a tad.
That said, I met the owner and a few other staff members and they were really welcoming and interesting to chat to. I'm nearing the end of my training now, and my flying school does trips to Eshott, so I might be visiting again soon.

    Very nice.
Things seem to have improved a lot since I was there a couple of years ago.
Good to see some young guys, trying to build the place up - Best of luck to them.

We've been going to Eshott for many many years (alas only as enthusiasts), it has always been a welcoming place, long may it continue to be so.

Had a great couple of days at Eshott a few weeks ago taking my parents up for their first flight with me. As a not long passed PPL, I wish I had seen this first as no response on the radio did throw me for a bit as I did orbits checking the radio etc. I was a bit concerned about the 'challenging' label on the website, but whilst I have been spoilt down south with huge runways and very aware of bald spotting the tyres on the DA40, it was drama free (did use the entire runway when attempting my best landing with the parents). My parents enjoyed the cafe waiting for me and the team running it were super helpful as well as having JETA. Charges very reasonable, and the toilets albeit away from the main building were immaculate, will be back for sure.

Nice video again! Price for your accommodation was quite steep I’d say, especially for the room you’ve got. Liked the trailer you stayed in last time way better and I guess it wasn’t quite as expensive.

Excellent review Jon. BTW wonder if you could perhaps get an interview with James Head of the CAA Airfiled Advisory Group given their remit to help GA aerodromes.

Another fascinating video and aerodrome, charming 👍😊
My dad's last aeroplane, G-ATRM (1966 C150F Reims Cessna) is stationed there iirc, part of the flying school🤔 It was in Orange & White scheme (which Cessna have reintroduced on their C172's in a resto mod kind of way), it's been repainted in Blue & White, I seem to recall. We spent some happy times in that aeroplane and I flew it from the right seat several times too💜✌️😊
Re local councils (our local council all work from home with every Tom, Dick and Harry free to look at your private data)I'd argue that ALL local councils are no longer fit for purpose (if ever they were) and they're in breach of our ancient common laws, they seem to forget that they're civic servants and there to serve, as we all have sovereignty. Issues we've encountered with local councils are akin to corrupt, useless, apparatchik - they really need to go.
Glad to hear that the CAA stepped up though, I'll have to duck as a squadron of flying pigs do a flyby for me right now💜✌️👍🤣🤣

Great, each episode is a pure pleasure to view !!!
Why do you Brits drive the plane sitting on the left, and instead drive the car sitting on the right? Decide once and for all which side you are on!!! (just kidding, thanks again)

Such a shame that Eshott has to battle the local authority over what I feel most reasonable people would agree are very insignificant issues. Sadly the north east of England is relatively speaking a general aviation desert. You only have to look at apps like Flight Radar 24 on any week day or weekend to see the massive contrast in general aviation activity levels between the south and the north of the country. Wouldn’t you imagine that the local authority in Northumberland would bend over backwards to foster and assist places like Eshott? But no, it would seem their agenda is a make their existence as difficult as possible.
