Ashwiniji is indeed a doyen of the Jaipur Ataruali Gharana. After all she is the daughter of Smt. Manik Bhide & niece of Smt Sarla Bhide both veterans of the same Gharana. Ashwiniji's music is for the Gods as she keeps it simple, soulful, unadulterated, melodious & most importantly without any gimmicks. Contrast this singing when she accompanies the doyen of Mewati Gharana Pt. Sanjeev Abhyankar where she moulds her traditional singing to that of Mewati Gharana making Jasrangi very pleasing & easy on the ear. This is according to me is the hallmark of a great vocalist a la my Daiwat the late Abhishekibua.
Rightly said..."without any gimmicks". Ashwiniji's music is for those and those only who adore and respect the greatness of Gharana tradition of this country.
@@manjaribanerjee6308 In my personal opinion, Ashwiniji's music is beyond gharanas. It just transports me to a different universe. I forget everything else when listening to her.
Had the good fortune of listening to the live rendition of Jasrangi by Ashwini Tai and Sanjeev ABhyankar ji at IMG Janfest 2020. I have no words to express i was transported to another dimension.
Undoubtedly true master. We are fortunate to be born as her contemporaries and get to listen to her live.. Thank you so much for posting this video and BTW, fantastic recording.
A brilliant presentation of Rageshree by Ashwinitai, who is my most loving female Maestro... its soooo soothing to listen to her velvet voice..thanks for the upload.
No words to express the joy, the blissfulness, the fulfillness of all desires of listening to heavenly music. The raga which very few artists render deserves all this.
A thing of beauty is joy for ever.great musicians are like a shining star and ashwiniji is one among them. Sheer joy to listen this raag and soulful redention.
A beautiful upload - what a joyous Rageshree - the drut is magical . The audio quality of your uploads are pretty much the best and I really appreciate the trouble you must take. Superb. Thank you !
The joy she expresses when her student present alaaps is so nice to see - the joy of a guru to see her disciple shine! Truly soothing presentation. I wish more artists present Vilambit explorations of these beautiful raags and raaginis
Mr. Rich Osborne, Mrs. Ashwini bhide Deshpande is singing an Indian classical rag called rageshree. Indian classical music is based on improvisation. She is singing a fixed composition and doing improvisation in the rag called rageshree
Mr. rich osbourne this is an Indian classical raag called rageshree here that Mrs. ashwiniji’s bhide deshpande is singing. Indian classical music is based on improvisation. The main artist must have a good handle on rhythm and melody in Indian classical music to do good improvisation. And improvisation must come on the spot with no scripts or papers or sheet music. There are many rhythm cycles and many melody scales that singers and instrumentalists must master. When doing improvisation they must work within these framework. I hope this answers your question.
can someone please tell me in English what she is singing? I see waves of understanding and appreciation in the faces of her accompanists over and over, and would like to know more
Sir, the main artist is spontaneously exploring the scale called Rageshree. In Indian classical music, a scale and a composition in it are chosen and then explored in depth without any former thought process (this thing makes the music system beautiful). Exploring and improvising within the limits of drone, scale, and rhythm is the extremely challenging job and the accompanists are delighted to see that the main artist is brilliantly doing this :) Hope aforementioned helps and hope you liked the rendition. :)
Thank you so much for your reply. It is very helpful indeed. I am trying to bring a kind of raga approach into my own guitar improvisations in the West, and based mostly on my emotional reactions and 50 years of listening to Hindustani classical music (mostly Ali Akbar Khan). It is hard to imagine this music developing as beautifully as it has without having at the same time been integrated with sadhana, a spiritual practice. That is why I had thought that perhaps she was singing something from the Vedas or a bhajan of some sort. Again, thank you for your reply
The lyrics are extremely romantic. These are love songs, plain and simple. They are spiritual in the sense that love is a spiritual emotion. North Indian music has a long tradition of blending love and spirituality (Bhakti/Sufi) since they are both essentially the same thing, if you come to think of it.
@rich osborn. the main artist is pundita ashwini bhidhe despande and she is of the jaipur atrauli gharana. she is singing a fixed composition in an indian classical raga scale called rageshree. in this raga scale, she is doing many kinds or techniques of improvisations, because indian classical music is based on improvisation. there are many ragas and scales that indian singers and musicians need to master, and there are many rhythmic cycles that indian singers and musicians need to master also. there are no scripts, sheet music, books, or any written material used when performing or giving concerts or recitals unlike western music.
