- Here is another rendition of the Jaipur-Atrauli favourite, a live undated recording, probably in Tai's early years before she took up the swarmandal.
The same raag, the same set of words and emotions, the same artist and yet so much variations in her Nand renditions. The rasik can only be delighted!
Why wouldn't one cry when the singer does full justice to the bhaav and bandish? "I search for you, my beloved, all over, in each forest, in each jungle." The romantic yearning for the lover at the height of the evening, when all throughout the day, she has been preparing herself for the evening, for union with her beloved. That romantic yearning, marred by fleeting doubts and pessimism of searching and not finding him. What justice to the words, emotions, and almost giving the raag a physical form as depicted in raagamalika paintings!

Kishori ji sings this 'Nand' for 'Nandkishore! Simply divine and takes me to Gokuldham.
She is not singing Nand - Nand is singing himself through her subtlest voice ! Indeed, the Genius is at her peak and thus showering on us all her grace - of the world's most wonderful and beautiful happenings ! The aesthetic cohesion - incredible brilliance surrendered and dissolved into the supreme artistic organic unity of medium, form and content of classical raga sangeet. Thanks a lot Abhishek.

There seem to be lot of comments comparing the renditions of Raag Nand by Kishori Tai, Ustad Amir Khan and many other greats. We should be grateful that these recordings are available. Let's just enjoy the music of these great artists without making it seem like a competition! Thank you for the upload!
Most of the times life is burden, but when you listen to these - one lifetime seems to be too short. I want to be born again and start listening to her all over again and again.

Such chemistry between Kishoritai and her shishyaa on the vocal support. One example would be at around 25:48 when Tai's Re Sa Ni Sa Ga- phrase was so beautifully completed on the taar Sa by that disciple.

My heartfelt gratitude for this upload. Personally, I prefer Nand in Madhyalaya, at least not in the Ati Vilambit style presented here, but this is Kishoriji in her heydays and that is the significance of this upload. Shall be thankful if more such recordings are shared with music lovers.
This lilting gati, this leisurely pace, was Kishoriji's forte, her wide open spaces within which she created these incredible patterns and flew these magical sorties of swaras.

Mirza Ghalib said "jikra oos parivash ka aur fir bayan apana....". It is more than relevant in rendering of this piece of music by revered Kishori Jee. Intense mood of yearning of Raag Nand getting equally intense notes and expression of this mood by the Gaan Saraswati is amazing.

Sangeet is sangeet! Western music is music! Of course it is but the one saying that it is equivalent to classical has to be simply dayf....Western can not come any closer to this music....it is faaaaaar beyond the scope of western music...

Do you know how I remember and segregate this rendition from others? The words are ढूंढू बारे सईंया तोहे सकल बन बन। Notice the glide up and down सकल from 1:10 to 1:25. For me, it resembles the dauntless flight of an eagle in search. My silly interpretation but helps me remember which recording this is :)
Lovely bandish - have been hearing this continuously today / It reaches parts of one that one did not know existed . And a lovely clear recording. Abhishek please FORGIVE my greed but I am compelled to ask you - do share what recordings you have pf Kishori's . For possibly 2 decades people like me have been pinning for her recordings apart from the standard HMV and Navras CD;s and what a shot of joy you have unleashed.
