This time, myself & Joanne pay a quick visit to the site of the former Manton Wood Colliery in Worksop, Nottinghamshire.
Closed back in 1994, little remains however not all is lost.....

Thanks for the video and chat. Cheers buddy.
Good to see all the old pictures puts the whole thing in a more real place.
Yes i think it would have been a little short and not much to see without them. There are some great individuals around 👍
@@TrekkingExploration amazing what people take photos of but fascinating in the long run
Nicely shot, a fascinating 'snapshot' of one of the many similar sites across the country. How fast nature claims back what was once taken. Looked you up courtesy of Martin Zero and look forward to watching some more.
Hey Nick, great to have you here and thanks for following 👍😀
Loving the context, it’s like a video version of the rails then and now books I had as a kid. So glad something is left our industrial heritage. So glad MZ got you in his film as it’s a great little channel you’ve got! I love the midlands knowing the West Midlands best so it’s great to see your half! Keep it up Ant! 😁👍👊
Hi Ant, glad to have you here and thanks for the kind comment 😀 We'll gradually be venturing over towards the west Midlands 👍
whilst working on the osberton home farm one of my jobs was take a massey 135 and weeks trailer to the colliery for coal for the big house. used to be owned by the family
haven't mentioned before how your maps are a very helpful and interesting addition to your videos
Yes I'm getting into the habit of adding them now 😀👍
Nice video, there was a small line in Rugeley which wasn't long which took trains off the Chase Line (Between Rugeley Trent Valley and Walsall) but the branch for Lea Hall Colliery came off between Rugeley Town and Rugeley Trent Valley, there nothing left apart from one bridge which was built guessing late 50s to the 1960s which trains travelled over the Trent and Mersey Canal, Amazon Warehouse is mostly built on the site.
I've been past ita few times and thought it's gonna be difficult to make anything from it. But once everything was added together, it was OK 😀 Thanks for watching 😀
I once suggested to Northern Rail that they install a request halt at the former junction of the colliery branch with the Lincoln/Sheffield line as workers at the business (the correct spelling!) park would not have to walk all the way across Worksop from the station. This is no longer the LNER so of course, I received no answer.
YES I LIKE IT... Cheers.
Cracking videos love to join you on these walks
Short & sweet but loaded with great finds and history. Have you got a special bit of equipment that seeks out rails still in situ?!!😄 Weird how they just walked away leaving the track🤔
I think the other half can just sniff it out ha ha. Seriously though, yes it's crazy. If you get time have a look at the Welbeck Colliery Branch video, it's completely intact from start to finish
@@TrekkingExploration Don't you worry I shall be having a massive trawl through all your vids so beware of random comments flooding your inbox however out of date they be to you!! Loving the rail pics, great addition, espesh Class 56, they were rare bits of kit in this neck of the woods❤👌👍🚂
Another Martin zero watcher here, subbed and looking forward to seeing your vids :)
Morning, great to have you here 😀
Martin Zero brought me here many thanks
Hello thanks for stopping by 😀
@@TrekkingExploration No problem hope to see alot more videos
Nice one thank you for sharing this with us 👏❤️😁x
Hey thanks for watching 😀
Great little video thank you.
Thanks for watching, plenty more to come 😀
I'm a huge fan of your work, yet I wonder, how do you come about these old railroads? Where and how do you find them?
Hi Jean 😀 Thank you for your kind comment 😀 A lot of them were former lines into coal mines, and we don't have many remaining in the UK so a lot of abandoned railways are left all over. Im starting to look further afield now, last week walking one on Scotland 😀
tracks to the left are still down right up to the bridge
Short but still interesting.🤔
Really good
Thank you ☺️
I remember driving under that bridge when travelling between Sheffield & Lincoln, always hoping I would see a train entering or leaving the colliery. Do you have Paypal for donations?
Manton is the name of industrial biult on and around the old pit site manton wood wasn't the pit it was just manton pit
Shireoaks next and then Kiveton Park =)
I don't think there is anything at all at either of those two 🤔😔
@@TrekkingExploration there's nowt left at Waleswood Colliery or Beighton Pit
We did bolsover on Monday so that'll be along soon 😉
@@TrekkingExploration I hope you didn't bump into the Beast of Bolsover, lol =)
