How to Start a Car Wrapping Business (that Makes $50K/Month) Pt. 1
Вставка
- Опубліковано 22 тра 2024
- Are you looking for a business with a low start-up cost and a big revenue potential? A car vinyl wrap business could be your answer. In this interview, we’re talking to Anthony Fisher, founder of Tailored Auto Styling, to find out what it takes to get started.
Anthony always knew he wanted to open a business, though car wrapping wasn’t his first plan. He started a screen printing company, You Are Here Designs, in 2015, and quickly saw that the vinyl side of the business had the most potential.
Since he’d always had a passion for cars, he pivoted the company to a car wrap business in 2017 and changed the name to Tailored Auto Styling. Three years later they’ve outgrown their location and are only track to double their revenue for the second year in a row.
One of the great things about a vinyl wrap business is how little it takes to get started. We’ll find out what equipment is necessary for wrapping a car and how much you’ll need to budget if you’re starting from scratch.
The kinds of vehicles you’ll be wrapping is a factor, too. At Tailored Auto Styling, their emphasis is on high-end cars and custom graphics for commercial fleet vehicles. We’ll ask Anthony why he chose these market segments and how he built a customer base and reputation when he first opened.
Anthony credits his business systems for a lot of his success. We’ll find out which key factors he focuses on and how he’s put effective systems in place to ensure his vinyl wrap car company grows consistently year after year.
You’ll learn more than just how to vinyl wrap a car watching this video. Any entrepreneur who wants to grow their business faster can benefit from Anthony’s advice. You can find out more about Tailored Auto Styling on their website, tailoredautostyling.com/.

I used to run a small part time PPF business from 2006- 2011. Very easy for one person to make a couple grand extra a month. Just being listed as a certified installer on 3M website brought in 75% of business for me.
Thanks for sharing Robert!
@Chris Camez desk job medical recruiting, but still do some hobby work on cars
@Chris Camez took the 3M training course back in 2006 was ready to install within a week. Had a background of window tinting, and vinyl graphics. Used a plotter to precut my kits this was back before Xpel had thier own film and had the best software on the market. Film sizes were limited back then could only cut off 48in rolls before 60in rolls came out. Only full wraps I did was Porsche front ends, most kits were only full bumpers and 24in to 30 on the hood.Very manageable for one person, once skilled and learned how to manipulate slip and alcohol ratios.
@Chris Camez went back on active duty in the Army, almost retired now. Been thinking about jumping back into it after retirement.

I've been in commercial wrap for nearly 10 years and the money in it is amazing. If you're a big business owner like a plumber and you see your competitors wrapped you need to be wrapped. It sells itself.
It's an awesome business!
100% agreed! The upfront cost may seem high at first but break that down over time and its pennies on the dollar for how much more business someone can gain by a wrap.
But it's a business where quality results is the most important thing to have. Literally you can learn to wrap in a single day, but mastering it to do high quality jobs in terms of durabilty and picking the best materials for it takes a long time. Sadly if by word of mouth you become notorious for low quality wrapping jobs then your business will go nowhere, even if you're getting better. And I have seen that in related businesses too around here like window tinting, car audio installation, car upholstery, car tuning and some others. That's why the best way to start and grow fast is to work with someone already established in the business or go to some good institute and learn the stuff.
@@jellyg.8961 This is all great information for people as well. Thats part of the reason why you start with great communication with clients as well so they are aware of what they might be getting but mainly how you're going to take care of them if something does go wrong from the get go. It creates a comfort level for them that they aren't aware of normally.
@@TailoredAutoStyling I imagine the ROI is quick. I think one can be in profit within 6 months or less depending on how one gets started.

In this modern age, skill > degree, so stop wasting money pursuing a degree. Learn some skill and try to be the best of it. Doesn't matter what skill, it's all about if you are the best of the best.
Well said. Thanks for the support.
I would disagree with your you “don’t need a degree”. It depends on the degree and what you do with it. I know “people” with degrees that make $160-300k a year and a few people with out a degree make that much too. Mostly though I see people with out degrees making a lot less, a or less working two jobs making $15-$18 and hour. With more inflation coming that’s not much. My degree also gave me a trade. There are lots of wasted money degrees out there too. Mostly though it’s how much effort you are willing to put into something and sometimes it works out, sometimes, not always.
@@Rzagski I have no degree 📜 but I’m a one person business making 150k on a lazy year killing it at 50% over 300k year…

I've been doing vinyl graphics for almost three decades. I remember nice paint jobs going for these prices. Time to get the dc4 dusted off, and get back in to it. This shit makes more $ than sign work, store front lettering, banner and stickers...

My Boyfriend wraps cars for a living and we just got back from a 9 day excursion paid for by many people over paying for wraps we literally love rich people and we love charging extreme amounts of money doing this! We make 6 times over what we pay for the ENTIRE PRODUCTS! Thanks Rich Americans
Yep that’s the key! Still deliver good service but these people have too much money to know what to do with why not charge them an extra couple thousand 😂
How do I contact you? I'd like to have more information concerning car wraps
Yeah no problem we don't mind breaking you off a little piece here and there for doing some work. Consider our way of giving back to the poor. I know you think $1,500 is a lot of money but that's because you're not rich You're getting paid by the rich. If you live like me you would have to wrap three cars a day 7 days a week so you're welcome to tax write off for me anyway... Smart people do smart things like have LLCs so it's just a business expense. But you'll learn that one day after you wrap about 500 more cars

These businesses are competitive
Any business that you need minimal tools is going to be very competitive.
Car wrapping can be a very lucrative business when executed correctly.
@@UpFlip that's the case with any business..
Sounds great......but depends what overhead is.
It’s not how much you bill...... it’s how much you keep.
Great point Tom. Also remember that there can be huge advantages to running / owning your own business that don't always revolve strictly around profits.

whats the best way to get into this type of industry like wrpaping tint and ppf wrapping where does one begin
@@mondo9.2.5 easiest way I started . I started with window tints. Asked a shop to teach me and they wouldn’t so I bought some film from “FlexFilm.com” worked on my own car and became good enough to do my family members and friends cars. You can also just search up local tint/wrap shops and walk in asking to work there. Ask to be trained or just get your foot in the door at any car customization shop. Even if you get in as a detailer/ porter just get into ANY shop. Then constantly ask and show interest in the field you want/see at that shop whether it be tint/ppf/ or wrap. For me I learned how to hand cut window tint from UA-cam channels like “Tint Stuff” ,”Window tint Warriors” and “Patrick latman “ They all go VERY in detail on how to do everything and how not to. Tint led me into wrapping and PPF because PPF and tint are similar with how clean the job needs to be. UA-cam is FREE tons of videos to learn with ! GOOD luck and God bless!

HOW CAN I INVEST...LOVE IT
How do I get the printers and machines to make vinyl wrap?? Is it just a very big sticker machine. Where can I find these machines
hp latex is a low maintaince line that you can produce these prints with.
people who can afford wraps dont hang out in facebook groups. Even the lexus, Mercedes, etc. they are bums working paycheck to paycheck to pay for a car they shouldn't own.
most calls will ask you how much and then immediately hang up when you tell them anything more than $1k.
You need expert marketing if youre going to get into the wrap business. The market is saturated and every window tint and audio shop in town is ready to undercut you by thousands.
A shop like this is rare. Congratulations to him, but 999 out of 1000 people who try this will live in mediocrity. Especially if you dont spend on advertising.
Good advice
Also, I'm not rich, not even close, but I've learned better to already know the price of something, than to ask seller 'how much', whether ordering food, ect, cause as soon as you ask seller 'how much', you just shrink in importance in their eyes....is what I've learned and experienced.
