The deposit, non refundable, usually covers the basic cost, not to include any profit. Bad business decision that i bet she doesn't repeat in the future. Some lessons we learn in life are harder than others. It's very own fault though.
More reasons for me to increase my hatred towards Telsa. I can't wait to the day this goes out of business and everything that goes with it including Muskrat. Giving Pies needs to sue!
At first I was thinking this was someone pranking their business pretending to be with Tesla. Imagine my surprise to hear it really was Tesla yet they made no effort to set things right. Even after the story hit social media. They simply suggested ordering more pies in the future as opposed to immediately reimbursing her for her time and costs.
Actually it wasn't Telsa directly but a third party vendor called City Flavor who caters for Telsa. They never got the approval from Telsa for the order so that's why the payment was never made. Plus Elon Musk recently posted on X that he just found out about this incident on the news and promises to make it right because people should be able to rely on Tesla.
Finding out it was a third party vendor made a whole lot of sense now when the pie lady said the person who made the order was excited to work with her pie company. Because I was like why in the hell a car company say they are excited to work with a pie company. Because it's a food vendor wanting to work with a pie company to cater food to a major corporation for those big money.
Elon is so extremely rich, why can't he pay these people and settle it once and for all, dude didn't even apologize for what his worker did, I think Elon is a goddamn racist. His company got sued by a black worker before and had to pay millions in damages

When a representative from a big company places an order for the company, that is the purchase order from the company. Do they have to get authorization from the CEO or the Board directly?
If she couldn't sell the pies and has a paper/email trail, she could take Tesla to small claims court. For large orders, she should have asked for payment in advance, or at least a deposit that covers most of the order. This was 2,000 pies, not just an order for a pizza.
she can, lots of people have sued Tesla for stiffing them. Its why they are black listed in most restaurants and catering firms... why do you think they had to call up a small bakery in the first place?
@@Freedomcustom Are you saying the person who made the order (who was a Tesla Employee) was some how 3rd party? However, no Tesla Cooperate payment policy and practices is what gets them blacklisted. You seem very determined to cover for Tesla's behavior, why is that? The damage is done.
Why is this on the news? The business owner does not know how to run a business and failed to take a deposit from Tesla before working on the order. It's her fault for not knowing how to run a business. If she took a deposit and Tesla canceled, it would be reasonable for her to keep the deposit so she wouldn't have any losses.
Wait, you guys started preparing the orders after a Quote n a phone call Did Not get a purchase order.. Take this as lesson learned and implement strict no exceptions policy in future! .. no order no dough
Also she doesn't know the difference between a third party vendor for Telsa and Telsa car company. The vendor that made the mistake was called City Flavor who didn't get authorization from Tesla for the orders.
If you’re a small business and a well known company wants to put in a big order you are happy to get the business. That’s why she didn’t demand a deposit.
Those pies look amazing! $2,000 is nothing for Tesla and there's no reason that they should not have gone ahead and paid her. And, as others have posted, get a deposit to cover baseline costs ahead of the final payment.
Lady, that’s why you have strict cancellation policy. It’s to protect your business. She should know since she’s running the restaurant. Or put a deposit high deposit?
First of all, the pie shop is the 'vendor', not Tesla. Tesla is the purchaser, or customer. The vendor is the pie shop. If she doesn't understand that, how the hell is she in business in the first place? She made the mistake of not having a written commitment from the purchaser before acting on the order.
Once you called for the order and change your mind that your not gonna need it anymore you have a responsibility to call back immidiately so they can stop making more pies. Unless..they are pranking the pie business and laughing in the other side of the phone saying oh theyre gonna make 4000 pies and were gonna cancel the order.
Actually she did the exact correct move. Big, name brand businesses will almost always pay on time. This is a very rare scenario. When they don't pay, it becomes a huge news article that advertises the hell out of your business, for free. It's a win for her either way.
a good pie shop is an enrichment to the community, as most supermarket fresh pies are only made to sell cheaply, as a little bit more expensive convenience to the frozen looks like pie, crust with fruit sauce inside.
She should charge a down payment first for such huge orders. And that they customer can't get it back if they cancel the order. If they don't agree with such policies than they can find someone else to make their goods. This is what restaurants do when they are catering to weddings as well.
she needs to from now on implement deposits and/or last minute cancellation fees as well as a specific time frame for large orders like that ! that will definitely save her in the future! Unfortunately indecisiveness and/or last minute cancellation from clients is nothing new
@@FreedomcustomIt is not the fault of the third-party vendor. Tesla's senior event manager canceled/postponed the event and his associates did not handle it properly. You know what it was her greed, she thought about the large order and future possible orders and she threw logic out of the window. Never ever prep an order let alone make it, without full payment. It is as simple as that.
Has nothing to do with Elon other than an employee made an unauthorized purchase. The bakery owner made multiple mistakes. It’s on the bakery. She also sold her pies and got free publicity.
The Tesla employee named Laura placed the order with pie owner and later requested to double the order. Bad business decision that i bet she doesn't repeat in the future. Some lessons we learn in life are harder than others.
It's very own fault though.
Elon did this on purpose.
yes, he wanted send those pies on SpaceX flight.
Prepayment, order is nit confirmed until full payment is received.
Looked like a weak hit piece on Tesla. Did anyone see her play the race card “black wokan owned business….”
Well played MSM
I liked her until she pulled that.
Is Tesla really so poor that they can't pay for dessert? Do the employees get nothing to eat? Is this because BYD sells cars so cheaply?
More reasons for me to increase my hatred towards Telsa. I can't wait to the day this goes out of business and everything that goes with it including Muskrat. Giving Pies needs to sue!
As much as i sympathize with her plea, adding that its a black woman owned business is just unnecessary
Had to make it a race issue and sensationalize the story 😂 never miss an opportunity
She lost me there
I missed that. I thought she was hispanic.
Well she ain't white
Right just gloss over the racism.
It’s not just corporations; individuals don’t think they have to pay for goods they received.
That was probably a prank call from Elon and Joe Rogan super stoned ! Sober up and didn’t want the order anymore 😂
Elon doesn't care about anyone. He scammed millions of people with his Doge coin scheme and laughed about it because nothing can be done to him. He sees everyone as peasants. He just wants to build a spaceship and leave you and your children here to rot, that's his idea.
Imagine being Elon, but still being so out of touch that you don't show up personally at this woman's bakery with a free Tesla to fix this!
So she sold her pies, got publicity, and learned a lesson. Happy ending to a stressful day. Seeing this made me want pies.
"brianzachary5618," You're overlooking the other side of the story as you try to force 'happy' on the woman and her staff; specifically those heartless, imbecilic a-holes at Tesla.
Well, I am sure Musk will try to sue her for defamation or something.. give him a few days and a couple vitamin K's
Probably got a GoFundMe, too.
she's fortunate that she made no loss on this mistake as she had only bought ingredients by that point
Small companies cannot handle a hit like this.
Not surprised that Tesla would stiff a vendor.
No signed purchase order. No deposit. The person ordering doesn’t seem to have had the authority to order in the first place.
@@ericeandcoAre you suggesting that they have get authorization from the CEO or the Board for a small (perspective) order like that?
😂
They had the authorization but the higher ups canceled the order.
@@NextNate03 yeah in this case the 3rd party vendor made the order and the higher ups (Tesla) told them no we didn't say we were going to make that order thus vendor calls back cancels 'order' then leaves them with no explanation or details
I really got to say this business owner can't blame Tesla she didn't require a contract she didn't require a downpayment which left the door wide open for cancellation learn how to do business better and things like this won't happen
Just because someone from a large company makes an order does not mean that that person has authorization. Get a purchase order from the company.
When a representative from a big company places an order for the company, that is the purchase order from the company.
Do they have to get authorization from the CEO or the Board directly?
Lesson learned on her part.
@@erikanders3343 yeah they get blacklisted because the vendors they use to assist fuck up now and then
@@Freedomcustom Are you saying the person who made the order (who was a Tesla Employee) was some how 3rd party?
However, no Tesla Cooperate payment policy and practices is what gets them blacklisted. You seem very determined to cover for Tesla's behavior, why is that? The damage is done.
Pay her her money!
She should have requested a 20% deposit with an electronically signed contract that included indemnity clauses
F Tesla. Shady company and horrible drivers
Tesla drivers are the worst
Wait, you guys started preparing the orders after a Quote n a phone call
Did Not get a purchase order..
Take this as lesson learned and implement strict no exceptions policy in future! .. no order no dough
Also she doesn't know the difference between a third party vendor for Telsa and Telsa car company. The vendor that made the mistake was called City Flavor who didn't get authorization from Tesla for the orders.
This is disgusting!
Just another reason to dislike Tesla.
Just another reason I would never buy a Tesla.
If you get big orders; you should always get a down payment that covers costs.
You gotta have measures in place so you don't waste material or work for free. Live and learn.
She’s smart don’t work for them don’t even take a chance.
Unless..they are pranking the pie business and laughing in the other side of the phone saying oh theyre gonna make 4000 pies and were gonna cancel the order.
exactly. They knew what they were doing
Actually she did the exact correct move. Big, name brand businesses will almost always pay on time. This is a very rare scenario. When they don't pay, it becomes a huge news article that advertises the hell out of your business, for free. It's a win for her either way.
Yes baker needs to be more careful but that is LITERALLY blaming the victim
this way of PR on social media is terrible.
Orders that require special handling (ie more time, supplies than you have on hand) need a non-refundable deposit to at least cover the supplies.
Companies such as Tesla need to honor their commitments. The problem is at Tesla, not at the honest trusting pie shop.
always require a deposit no matter who you’re selling to, lessons learned
Lesson being never work with Tesla and do not trust people.
@@erikanders3343No. Trust, but verify.
They should not allow cancellations beyond the point of their preparation, at any phase.
TESLA needs to pony up and pay for those pies.....
a good pie shop is an enrichment to the community, as most supermarket fresh pies are only made to sell cheaply, as a little bit more expensive convenience to the frozen looks like pie, crust with fruit sauce inside.
@Hello there, how are you doing this blessed day?
She should charge a down payment first for such huge orders. And that they customer can't get it back if they cancel the order. If they don't agree with such policies than they can find someone else to make their goods. This is what restaurants do when they are catering to weddings as well.
Should have gotten purchase order number...it's bakeries failure....I not convinced it wasn't a scam
Lol the person at Tesla thought they had the authority to buy 2k pies
Maybe the universe is showing people something here
she needs to from now on implement deposits and/or last minute cancellation fees as well as a specific time frame for large orders like that ! that will definitely save her in the future! Unfortunately indecisiveness and/or last minute cancellation from clients is nothing new
Atleast take 30% advance. Add cancellation policy.
An email confirmation for the pie order would hold up in court.
Tesla managed to put itself into the news. It believes no publicity is bad publicity. I am glad the neighborhood/community helped this small bakery.
Tesla only became aware of the debacle after the social media post. 3rd party vendor failed to inform them of this particular quote they dismissed
@@FreedomcustomIt is not the fault of the third-party vendor. Tesla's senior event manager canceled/postponed the event and his associates did not handle it properly. The problem is the work culture in Tesla. Remember how Musk handled the acquisition of Twitter. Musk is a brilliant man but things happen. It is not is fault
Do something about it Elon Musk!! It’s your company screwing over a small business !
You know what it was her greed, she thought about the large order and future possible orders and she threw logic out of the window. Never ever prep an order let alone make it, without full payment. It is as simple as that.
I blame her for poor business practices. Take no order without a deposit.
it's Tesla.
Elon Musk needs to step up and rectify this issue.
Has nothing to do with Elon other than an employee made an unauthorized purchase. The bakery owner made multiple mistakes. It’s on the bakery. She also sold her pies and got free publicity.
“Oh yeah we screwed you over but it was just a miscommunication so it’s all good”-Tesla
The Tesla employee named Laura placed the order with pie owner and later requested to double the order. Pie owner went ahead and started preparing the pies with no down payment but literally went off a "verbal agreement over phone /message" with Laura.
Tesla later apologized that Laura had no authority placing the order. I think I heard Tesla has offered to make a real authorized purchase this time but the owner is hesitant..
Money upfront, always.
Strange behavior….could it not possibly be identity theft?
Is he a regular customer?
Scamming is going on 24/7 now. Definitely verify order & get a retainer first….deposit to hold the purchase.
Since this news outlet didn't say this Elon got in touch with the business when he found out about it.
They do this to me all the time. Big Companies get staff from my staffing agency and then steal them. It’s crazy how big corporations steal from small businesses. Major corporations always stand on the backs of small businesses
if not for these big companies how would you place your people. stop this nonsense of playing victim.the people you employ are jsut numbers and dollars for you.they are making money for you and your bonus and commission.
You do not own your temp staff. You are a slave owner. No one wants to stay a temp staff employee. They want to be hired directly by a company. Cut out the middle man. Profiting off the work of temp employees. Disgusting.
😂😂😂
She must be a not so above smart owner!
Orders are processed with a paid in full.
She needs to close up shop and go home.
