- The Cleveland Guardians are not playing up to standard lately.
The Detroit Tigers took three of four against the AL Central leading Guardians and the Minnesota Twins are just 4.5 GB now.
ESPN Baseball analyst Tim Kurkjian joins UCSS to discuss the team's recent struggles, Jose Ramirez's MVP candidacy, the team's #1 pick in Sunday's MLB Draft & much much more.
Andy Ibáñez homered his first two times up and drove in four runs and Ryan Vilade got his first major league hit and three RBI in his debut for Detroit, leading the Tigers to an 11-7 win over the Cleveland Guardians on Tuesday night.
Ibáñez homered on the third pitch of the game from Logan Allen and added a three-run shot in the second. Ibáñez hit a double in the eighth inning and finished 4 for 4 with a walk and four runs.
Vilade, who was recalled earlier in the day from Triple-A Toledo, singled home two runs in the third off Pedro Avila (1-1) and another in the seventh to put the Tigers up 9-7. His first plate appearance with Colorado in 2021 and his first hit as a major leaguer came 963 days apart.
“It was long," said the 25-year-old, who had the ball from his first hit and three other game balls on a shelf in his locker.
Although Vilade didn't make Detroit's opening-day roster, he didn't get discouraged. He went to the minors and worked on his game, recently adding a leg kick to help his timing at the plate.

Do people realize Charlie Condon has played 70 less games than Bazzana in his career, yet has 18 more home runs? I have a feeling we will really regret Bazzana when Condon doesn't slow down when he hits the MLB

@@abu-4 good cause condon isn’t just a power hitter. Has a much higher average than bazzana against better pitching. SEC players seem to do well in the MLB

bite the gd bullet and trade some of that sweet sweet middle infielder depth for a proven bat. and a front end starter. you wont get another shot before the next dynasty appears.

The Indians simply don't have the talent necessary. The 7-9 hitters are beyond horrible, and they can't get more than 5 innings out of any starter. A normal owner would see this for what it is; a once a decade chance to show you're serious about winning. That means spending money. Dolan won't do it. I personally don't give a crap about prospects, because they're PROSPECTS, not true MLB players. When you have utter crap playing SS and CF, and are automatic weak outs, you have to use those prospects to get true major leaguers. I would trade one World Series title and 25 years of crap over 15 years of being competitive, with ultimately nothing to show for it. In other words, I would rather be the Royals over the Indians.
Yeah. The past few weeks have become the "Spring Training in July" season. Injuries; bring up the younger guys; if he doesn't look like All Star status immediately - send him down, and bring up somebody else. In the meantime, we must improve the starting pitching. And that costs $$$. Your fans have supported you with the attendance going up - show them the support they have shown you. Spend the $$$ for crying out loud.
