This run saved approximately 1 minute and 58 seconds over my previously uploaded run. Much more solid throughout; less big mistakes, less small mistakes. Frustratingly close to 1:09...
There is still a lot of time to be saved everywhere in the run through optimization and/or just playing faster. There is a faster route unused found by Icefire which saves an upwards of 50 seconds. Said route does mines before Crashed Frigate, leaving Samus with 11 Energy Tanks for Early Newborn rather than the normal 13. There is also a required wallcrawl at the end of the run to activate a door by shooting a conduit out of bounds. These two factors make it a very risky route to use despite the time save.
Might come back to improve this by 1 second some day.

Man these graphics were years ahead of their time
I remember playing this and Halo around the same time. It was cool to ramp a warthog off a big hill, but something about water droplets appearing on my visor when I walked through fog (and other similar fine touches) really stuck out to me and made this world with its limited corridors feel way more real.

@@7m1a0x exactly! So many small intimate details that stick with me more than an open flow poly field that you drove over quickly.
Plus: the game runs at 60 fps on the GameCube! It's nothing short of a technical marvel, really.
@@Neathyr This game is criminally underrated, and that's not to say it's not popular just maybe not as much as it should have been. I remember as a kid being blown away playing this game. And a little spooked by the atmosphere it set too

are these shoot-able hatches that clearly act as loading screens for the next room.
Manages to escape space pirate frigate with all suit upgrades and Varia Suit intact by skipping elevator cut scene. Arrives on Tallon 4... denied. Also, defeats Meta Ridley and saved some of the towers. Cutscene triggers... poof all towers disappear in front of your eyes. Amazing.
To be fair, saving some of the artifact towers isn't that difficult.
Even though i knew you got the run i started panicking so hard through that phazon tunnel artifact x) love the run man! You should stream on twitch gave you a follow!
I think 2D Metroid speedruns are amazing, but this is on a whole other level. Idk how you figured out half of this shit, let alone executed it in one rep. Goooooood shittttt
There were problem areas but this was solid. Proud that you got the 1:10 (and 1:09 to me). Really great run and set the bar to an appropriate level for this category. Good luck with 21%!
hermano, es posible que no sepas español y no entiendas este mensaje pero a pesar de esto quiero decirte que con este speedrun has tocado una parte importante de mi infancia, o sea, el juego al cual le dediqué no horas, no días, no semanas si no que años, ya que hasta hace pocos meses fue la última vez que lo jugué pero no en busca del mejor record como tu yo lo jugaba por ser uno de los primeros juegos a los cuales pude acceder y ver con la velocidad y la destreza con que vas avanzando por el mapa solo me hace pensar en la cantidad de tiempo que le invertiste a este speedrun, fue la primera vez que veo esos gliches en metroid, y para no llegar a alargarme más solo que gracias por el vídeo y que soy tu fan por recordarme mi infancia :).

I'm curious, when does the timer start for a Metroid Prime speedrun? Because if it starts as soon as you control Samus, then there's no way that was 1:10.
The timer starts as soon as you have control of samus on Frigate. The timer only counts when you have control, and anything that stops the world also stops the timer. That includes, but isn’t limited to: cutscenes, text boxes, pausing, and using the map. The time format is HH:MM

blainethemono19 Hey Blaine, the trick that helped me learn was to jump a little earlier than you think. The ghetto jump is kind of weird there. Also, start the jump at a slight angle (I face a bit to the right).
