This is rad!!! I love Diiv! I have for real seen them like 3 times. This song makes me think of something from their second album Is The Is Are. Way to go, man. You are crushing it with these videos. Can you do one in the style of Beach Fossils at some point?
Thanks, Man! That’s sick! I’ve never seen them live but I’m sure they’ll kill it. Yes! I’ll consider a Beach Fossils video real soon. I dig them as well. Thank you for the support!
Ok cool. Sounds good. Also I don't know if you have addressed this in any other videos, but would you ever post these songs on a streaming website? It would be cool to listen to these songs on SoundCloud or Spotify. Your music seriously sounds like a band I would just listen to. Would be cool to hear your work as an album or something.
Thanks, man! I appreciate that. I thought about releasing some of these songs but still not sure where they would fall under. Also, not sure if I’ve mentioned this before but I have some music released under Banana Cream and Pure Mids, both my music projects which are streaming on all platforms! I haven’t released anything recently because of this channel but hopefully I can soon!
These videos are awesome. I feel like I actually know what I’m doing in ableton now. It’d be cool to see how you do Whirr, specifically the Feels Like You record!!
very cool.. .this sounds like what i imagine their 4th album maybe sound like. Its darker than sounding than, and more wet than "deceiver" album.... the vocals/bass are more post punk... honestly i think this is a very cook song you did and it sounds rather unique
I appreciate that, thank you! I do. I haven’t been active with these music projects lately but feel free to check out Banana Labs, Banana Cream and Pure Mids on all streaming music platforms!
Nailed it yet again dude! Such an underrated channel, won't be long before everyone catches on to how talented you are. You just using two mics for the kit.. kick and an overhead?
Thank you for the inspiration! I have a question about your bass, are you running direct into the interface and using EQ and plugins for the tone? Or do you use an amp or DI simulation pedal? Cheers :)
Thanks for watching, Pierre! For the bass I’m going direct into my interface and yes I do some processing in my DAW. It’d be compression, EQ and saturation.
Hey man, absolutely smashed this! Do you mind letting me know how you push the vocals so far back and make them sound distant? I give it a ton of wet reverb but it still doesn't sound right
Thank you so much! I make sure to have the vocals a little above the snare so that they’re aren’t fighting each other-As far as volume. Then I’ll add some reverb but make sure not to have the tail drag on so long or it can get lost. For safe measure it helps to throw an eq at the end of the vocal chain (after the reverb) and duck the mid frequencies a bit( where the tones from the reverb would sit). Helps to control the vocals. And as far as the other instruments, make sure they’re sitting in a place where they’re not drowning out the vocals. Vocals are the main instrument. They don’t have to be the loudest but as long as they sit in a place where you can hear them and the lyrics. Hope that helps!
I'm so late to this party. I need to catch up... BTW, how do you use a condenser mic so close without picking up much extraneous mouth noises? I always have so many breaths, lip and tongue noises, etc. , that editing is a project in itself, plus de-essing.
You’re right in time! Good question. I actually have that problem sometimes. I guess it just gets hidden in the mix. I also find my self getting light headed because I’m trying to avoid those noises while also trying to sing and be as clean/clear as I can haha. I’m still learning, my friend.😅✊🏻
I actually am right up on the mic haha. Especially because I try to get a breathy sort of vibe since most of the songs I’ve been writing are dream pop/indie pop and lower octave style vocals.
This channel is going to see 10x type growth over the next year. So much value in your videos sir.
Thank you, Andrew! I really appreciate that, Brotha!
I'm a HUGE DIIV fan and this is an amazing song❤️ congrats bro

Not enough Hendrix bends 😔
Ok but great job, reminds me of The Spark

Very interesting! Thanks for watching, Hankus!
@@bananalabs no problem, i like your channel and versatility and how you explain things... do you have personal music to check out as well?
I appreciate that, thank you! I do. I haven’t been active with these music projects lately but feel free to check out Banana Labs, Banana Cream and Pure Mids on all streaming music platforms!
This is more of early Beach Fossils and Wild Nothing than DIIV
Did someone send this video to Cole?
Nailed it yet again dude! Such an underrated channel, won't be long before everyone catches on to how talented you are. You just using two mics for the kit.. kick and an overhead?
Thank you! I appreciate that. Only two mics. An overhead condenser and a kick mic.
Great stuff, I’ll check DIIV out🤔
Have you heard of The plug in Metric AB? It’s a great tool to use if you want to get an accurate mix comparison.
Right on! No, I haven’t but I’ll look into it. I think that would help get my mixes close to the style I’m writing. Thanks!
🙌🙌🙌
This is amazing, your extremely talented! Would you ever consider writing a song like Slowdive?
Thank you so much! Yeah, considering doing one of those in the near future!
@@bananalabs ah nice, ill keep an eye out.
Hello! Which mark is your guitar?
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
You found it! Thank you for checking it out!

Do you listen to Narrowhead? You should do a video on them
Never heard them but I’ll check them out. Thank you!
can you please try to make a song like Teen Suicide?
Yeah, I’ll consider it! Thanks for the suggestion!
so good! What effect did you use for the voice?
Thank you! I used compression, EQ, Saturation and reverb
Super willllllllll
Thanks for the continued support!
What kind of guitar tuning or chord type do you use for that kind of music?
Just standard tuning bar chords just using 2 strings

I actually am right up on the mic haha. Especially because I try to get a breathy sort of vibe since most of the songs I’ve been writing are dream pop/indie pop and lower octave style vocals.
Sounds like Sonic youth
The guitar leads are way more interpol
Absolutely
wanna start a band? haha
Haha but then I wouldn’t have the time to make UA-cam videos 😭
the vocal is to reverbed
That's the point, indeed
