Thanks for watching all our videos folks! You're the best!
The blueberry analogy made a lot of sense to a newbie like me. Thank you for this easy-to-understand video! 💯 💯 💯
These technical observations on the making of coffee are great. Please keep on doing them!
Thanks for watching!
Fully agree. Don't let what is says on the packet limit your choices!
nicely explained, super useful for the home enthusiasts
Thanks, this is exactly the info I was looking for.
This was super clear and helpful! Thank you.
Excellent, clear and detailed explanation, thanks.
thank you very much! this explains most of my questions
Very articulate and informative talk! I guess I shouldn't admit that I love to make my espresso with Starbucks French Roast. but I am going to try to start branching out a bit.
I came from a vid where they said if you want the iced latte stronger, use expresso rather than coffee and I didn't know the difference so thanks for educating me!!!!
I literally was watching the latest episode and was wondering the answer to this very question. Thanks UA-cam for actually being impressively helpful for once with the recommendation. And thanks SCG for the insightful video.
Love it! Thanks for watching :D
Thank you for a great explanation!
Thanks for watching!
She sounds like my math professor, I fell asleep halfway through. 😂
I don't understand why most modern "specialty coffee" drinkers are hating on the robusta bean. Yes, it haves a mean, intense flavor, but not always it haves to be bad. If the farmer knows how to take care of it, and the roaster knows how to handle it, I know that the end result in the hands of a good barista can be surprisingly good! :)
Agreed. If it tastes good what's the problem?
I also agree, and will add that one of the tastiest coffee's I've tried has been an arabica/robusta blend.
It might be because not all folks like the bitterness of the resulting brew. I for one don't drink espressos for that very reason. If it's OK for you then who really cares about what others think. Just like me not wanting espresso. To each their own.
1timby If nothing else, what others think matters most when people seek out opinions for new roasts/beans to try. In this sense, a lot of people who may have otherwise enjoyed a nice robusta might never even try it for all the negative opinions.
This is very true. There is that strong reputation regarding arabica coffee and how it is superior to robusta. Though, robusta can be just as good if grown and roasted properly. Take someone to a Vietnamese cafe, see how much they love the coffee, and then kill them by saying it was robusta.
Thanks for explaining this: light comes between the clouds and music plays.
hahaha you have the point
I love this! Thank you!
Woohoo! Cheers!
great vid, thanks!
I recently had some of the best coffee I've ever had when I was in Cambodia. I'm not sure how they brewed it, but it was SO good!
It had a hint of cocaine
@@peteross4879 Hahahaha! I recently read that a lot of coffee in Cambodia is mostly chicory. I sent the info to my son who lives there, and he was quite surprised.
Cheryl Rowe that must of been a fun trip. I always tell my friends and family how amazing it is to explore new places and cultures. You can find amazing food even if it’s the way it’s cooked which you will probably not find anywhere else around the world. Making those memories are gold.
@@peteross4879, it was an amazing trip! Great people, great food. Our youngest son lives there and we hadn't seen him for about 5 years. He started a microbrewery with a couple of Aussie friends he met there. He's doing great. The brewery is seeing steady growth. Not sure when/if he'll ever come back to the US. We'll be going back for his wedding in 2021. Literally can't wait!
Cheryl Rowe that sounds exciting. I’m sure he is really busy and that just creates another opportunity for you to keep visiting. Hopefully this epidemic is a thing of the past soon.
Thank you for your great video. Like it. Personally, I like light roast beans. My favorite- blue mountain beans with light roast.
Cheers! Thanks for watching!
Try different varieties and different roasts of each, you'll be surprised at the flavours awaiting you. When I get a new bean I do at least 2 small batches, one a light roast and one a medium to dark and try each then roast the batch according to my flavour preference, the one I'm drinking right now gives me the best flavour on a light roast but others I prefer dark roast, each is very different in the cup and each has a sweet spot regarding roast colour.
Nice work here! I would only add that in my personal experience, one factor which really affects espresso brewing is the freshness of the beans as determined by the date of use from the date of roast.
Absolutely! Freshness is key!
Only problem is theres never a roasted date on the bags
Great vid, but please drop your camera exposure a full stop.
I think high key works well for this kind of video, maybe more contrast
I don’t think anyone came here to critique camera exposure
@@HowToHydroponics Obviously, but constructive criticism is a good thing bud. It helps us get better at our craft. Get over yourself.
Amber, thank you. I guess what it extracts ;-) down to is if it tastes good to you. I must admit I was hoping for a way to determine if a coffee would taste good based on something in the description. I like to order coffee from different places and hoped to avoid those that don't work for me, but then I'll miss some gems. I even found a great coffee from Whitehorse in the Yukon. Go figure! I guess it enjoying coffee is like life. It's a journey.
Be Well
A tasty journey at that! Thanks for watching!
dark roasting is basically ruining the coffee, espresso or drip
So many specialty coffee shops around me are serving super bright almost lemony espressos. I'm totally open to trying them but man I miss the dark nutty roast expresso!
I really understand that feeling. There are only a few good roasters that specialize in that old school roasting.
Check out Middle Fork Roasters! Sounds like you will appreciate their roasts :D www.seattlecoffeegear.com/coffee-tea/shop-by-roaster?manufacturer=Middle+Fork+Roasters
+Seattle Coffee Gear Thank you!....but what I don't understand is...Why the coffee shops around me wouldn't at least offer that dark roast combined with a correct pull for that rich chocolate nutty flavor many people desire? All I see are super bright options. Hmmm?
I'm with you, and if you haven't tried them you might look up Red Bird's espresso roast. It's what their company is calling a classic "Northern Italian" roast. I like the modern take as well but for me variety is always nice.
I think lots of hipster kids who didn't like old school coffee like the bright flavours. I'd say 50% of roasters I know are under 30. Kids don't like olives and dark chocolate right? That's my thinking behind this craze.
Ok this is my deal i buy Cafe Bustelo, but I make it in a regular coffee maker that uses the drip method. This still has so so so much more caffeine than regular coffee. I just wanted to know why it has more caffeine. The only thing I can gather from this video is it is grounded up more.
How should I grind those beans? Fine or extra fine for an expresso machine?
▪️
Your comment made me want to look up what would happen if someone made a "coffee bean cr@ck rock" - but apparently no one has recorded themselves doing this yet. There has to have been some weird people out there that have tried it...
I ain't trying it.
🟥
I got a question, if you were to take say coffee from yemen and transport it to say Hawaii and grew it there. Would the coffee from Yemen that's grown in Hawaii be considered single origin?
We'd like to think so! Most coffee has been transported over time, so we wouldn't see why that situation would be any different! ua-cam.com/video/wymlAHukFzU/v-deo.html
Seattle Coffee Gear Awesome! Thanks so much!
All coffee originates from Ethiopia, the place it's grown alters the flavour profile due to the environmental differences, so the origin is always the place it's grown.
so if you put turkish coffee in an espresso machine...do you get espresso?
katia alami Yes, espresso is the extraction method, any bean in an espresso machine extracted to cup is an espresso in the same way that same bean in a french press is french press coffee etc, I note in America names are preferred which I think is why you get espresso roast, drip roast etc rather than light roast, mid roast dark roast?
People from Seattle are on a completely different level when it comes to coffee
Gotta have a quality cup of coffee before a hard day of rioting and looting am I right?👍
I mean I don't expect every Apple I bite into to taste exactly the same Why does it matter of the coffee doesn't taste exactly the same all the time
right now i drink about 4 tbsp/ table spoons i think that means, of La LLave coffee/espresso each day through a moka pot which ends up being about 16 OZ liquid spread over 2 cups. Im worried thats too much caffeine for a day. any thoughts?
Yess its way too much
You should consider taking a coffe break for about a month
@@yousufahmed985 even though it’s made with a moka pot and not an espresso machine? La llave says it’s espresso and below it says coffee so I’m kinda confused as to what it is?
How much caffeine is that per day
@@yousufahmed985 I have no idea. I figured you’d have an idea based on your response to my question.
I used to drink coffe regularly after breakfast
But then i had a cold turkey iguess,i stopped drinking for a while. First week was very tiring i craved coffe at 6pm daily .third week:i had lesser mood swings, i felt more energetic even without it as if my body produces its own caffine i dont need coffe anymore i slept a great deal now and isomnia has disappeared. I feel more cognitve now. The point is i consumed like 1teaspoon instant coffe daily (its a small amount right?) Going on break ober such small doses gave me great benefits
Imagine yourself going on the break
The only flavor I have ever gotten from coffee is bitter.
I cannot stop looking at the tattoo on her chest, isn't it finished yet, right? How it suppose to look? Thanks, great video! :)
Her chemo might be the reason she had to discontinue.
If I don't add anything, coffee tastes like bitter water to me
Not one word about the Grind? I guess it has no impact on the coffee
You talk very speed and other people who there English language isn't good it's become very hard for them .

did someone take a bit hard to understand what she was saying?.,, her voice is shaking a lot some times,.. seems that she is reading instead trying to explain her self about the topic
They're isn't a difference between them, espresso is coffee bean. Lmao
too wordy
